    U just gave me the confidence I needed. Oil pastels are my fav medium. However I was wondering if you could successfully use the 2 together.

      If you use sennelier oil pastels with sennelier oil paints /oil sticks with gamblin solvent-free gel, they look really cool. I've been doing that a lot and I'm still am
      Doing that. Everytime I mix other mediums with other brands of paints and pastels, my original art looks so magical.
      It's a shame that people keep unfollowing me and scrolling away from my videos. 5:04

      Ty! I would recommend a spray varnish sealer.

    I'm always tempted after finishing an acrylic to add some pastel...but I'm scared to ruin painting that I'm happy with! Can I paint back over the pastel if I'm unhappy with it or would it ruin the overall affect or slide off? Ps. Dig your accent!

      You can clean off oil pastel you don’t like
      The problem is that *they don’t dry completely*, but a couple of weeks later, you can put a special protective spray over it, so it doesn’t catch dust & lint

  • @My_eyes_hurt

    Looks great but you didn't show how you seal it! Oil pastels never dry, and after time the colours will change and some varnish won't work on oil pastels. So how do you protect the colours without putting it in a glass frame???

    • @raeart
      @raeart  3 роки тому

      Yes to seal it without smudging use a spray varnish sealer.

    how long does it take for the oil pastel to dry on top of the acrylic and can you varnish it with matte varnish afterwards? thanks

    • @raeart
      @raeart  4 роки тому

      The oil pastel doesnt dry out its like crayon you can spray varnish it at anytime. As long as the paints dry

    How would you seal a piece like this? I mean for protective coating wise. I always worry about that with two different mediums

      raeart Which varnish spray do you use? I have an acrylic painting but a section where I used oil pastels/pencils and need to seal it. I'm really stuck and need to find one. I've heard that the Liquitex Soluvar or Krylon UV Varnish might work. Please let me know. Also, do you put a protective layer of something down before the varnish?

      I have read other painters varnish the whole painting, but when you touch the pastel area, it will come off on your fingers. Is that true? If it is, how to solve the problem?
