Less than £25k for a masterclass van build WOW bloody amazing. If you two don’t get snapped up for your own TV series then there’s no justice in the world. You’re both pure gold.💪👌Here’s hoping for many more of your amazing projects
I personally love what you've done. Not just the van itself, but the fact of how you run this channel. You offer step by step guides on hwo to do things. You offer clear little practical tips that you've picked up and best of all you list the exact prices for things. This is EXACTLY how UA-cam beats shitty TV these days. I can't sing your praises enough. And you were right about the bungies - the single metal rail to hold those boxes in the cupboards looks better. I'm defo surprised about how cheap the electrics were - the prices do seem to be coming down as tech improves.
That’s ever so kind of you to say thank you and it’s so nice to hear that the videos are helpful. We’ve learnt to do most things by watching UA-cam so nice to be able to pay it forward 💙 Electrical components do seem to be getting better and cheaper.
Wow that cost!!! SO much cheaper than the Landrover! (Granted the Landrover is more expensive to buy). That van too looks absolutely amazing! And your videos building it made it look so ‘doable’. I’ve done my own car mechanics for 30 years and do give most other maintenance jobs a go, and your detailed vids really make it look achievable. (Wouldn’t have thought so until your vids!) Thanks guys! Enjoy your next road trip!
Landys are ridiculous, but also super cool 😂 thanks very much we were happy with the final cost for what we have. That’s so nice of you to say that you very much 💙💙
@@truebluetravellers my wife and I LOVE our Land Rovers and they are super cool we agree which is why you pay through the roof for them! But this is brilliant. Will never look at a food delivery van the same way again!!! 🤣
You are really very kind and generous to not only explain the costs but to also prepare a spreadsheet for people to look at. Not only that, but you even provide an email address for people to contact you to ask where you got certain items! That is absolutely fantastic! So many channels on UA-cam will not share this information. I understand people wanting to keep finances private and also information about certain items that are one-offs or not readily available, but I can't get my head around why people won't share information about things anyone can order online or buy at a shop. The both of you differentiate with your honesty and transparency and as a result, I sincerely hope that your channel deservedly grows massively. Won't you need to change your tyres to winter ones if driving in snow and ice or will you be using snow chains? Depending on the country, you may be legally required to fit proper winter tyres. I've tried off-road all-season tyres here in Japan. They are useless in comparison with proper winter tyres and in anycase, we are required to fit winter tyres by law if travelling in snow country.
Thanks very much Andrew that’s so kind of you to say, So the tyres we have fitted are snow rated and yep we have got snow chains too incase we need them so hopefully we will be all good 👍💙
Sexy Saturday! Such a shrewd move Jon, making her walk in front of the van. Less earache and the double bonus is that she will fill any potholes she falls into before the van gets there. My kinda guy.
@@truebluetravellers If you find yourself along the Moray Firth we can give recommendations for a couple of places that do a nice tray bake or cuppa - or even year round ice cream. We’ve had a flat in Keith for 20 years and get over to visit as often as we can.
Thanks so much Kev, we are hoping to get to Culloden if time permits so not much further to this area. If we don’t make it this time will definitely be doing another trip so any recommendations are very much appreciated 💙
@@truebluetravellers Inverness is nice, and close to Culloden. I don’t know if he’s still there this time of year, but during summer there’s a chap that makes great pizza in a real wood fired oven in the back of his Defender, on the bank of the river opposite the castle. If you make it into Inverness you ought to check out Leakey’s bookshop, it’s one of a kind. Moving East along the coast, you can park at the Royal Navy/Royal Airforce heritage centre at Covesea lighthouse, Lossiemouth, and walk to one of the nicest beaches to be found. Go into Lossiemouth town and use the brand new footbridge to get to an even more spectacular beach. Go East from Lossiemouth towards Fochabers, and head North to the coast for the WDC Scottish Dolphin Centre, Spey Bay. It’s a lovely spot with a nice gift shop and cafe. Keep heading East to Cullen, and there’s an excellent ice cream shop just down the hill from the town square parking, and just down from there is a cracking chippy - Linda’s Fish & Chips. Right on the square is Rockpool Cafe which is a good choice for Cullen Skink. Cullen also has a fabulous beach, and a charming harbour. If you head South from Cullen to Keith you can park easily on Mid Street - it’s parallel to the A96. At 156 is IG Thomson Butchers where my mate Derek works, and their stuff is all top notch (they’re our neighbours 😎). The Deli Shop across the road is an excellent place to get bags of “seconds” of biscuits, and almost anything else you might want - usually a good selection of Baxters soups made back in Fochabers. Bengal Spice a bit further up Mid Street is our local Indian Restaurant, and very good.
Thanks so much Kev. Really appreciate you taking the time to write this out for me. I’ll pop it all in my list, we might not have time to get out to all of these on this visit but we’ll definitely be back so will save them for sure

Yet another great video. Loved the location reveal 🤣🤣. Well done to Callum for getting so close with his guess. Can’t wait for the next video of the trip. Safe travels both.
Beautiful job guys. Not cheap, but the quality and finish is amazing and you probably wouldn't get a pre built camper with half the features for the money. Looking forward to next weeks post👍
Probably the best conversation tutorial video in UA-cam land, what has been lovely it's not been too detailed, Greg Virgo did an epic series converting his, and his was great too, yours has been brilliant, one wonders if you could make this into a business, and would the numbers stack up, I'm looking forward to more from you like this.
Try and get a second camper that is fully equipped to your specifications in perfect technical order, no repair, brand new interior ready to go for 25 grand, I don't think so. You will never find anything like it... so you saved money. On top of that and this is the big one. You did it together and created memory's to treasure for the rest of your life and by doing that, created video evidence of the howl process helping others wist providing entertainment for all to watch. If that isn't a cool thing, I don't no what is. I have therapy enjoyed the journey with you watching you build your camping van and wish you the best holidays possible in it in the future. Can't wait for the next build.....😊
I’m sure there are other non van people like me who have really enjoyed watching this build (thanks YT algorithm 😂). The finish is superb but I’m intrigued by the practicality of the shower/toilet room and would have liked to have seen your experience of water pressure/amount of hot water/how you deal with the waste water etc. I assume there are some compromises to showering in the van but with the high standard of the rest of the build maybe there isn’t?
Thanks Amelia, yep that’s going to be the big test, the water, hopefully all the water doesn’t freeze as it’s inside, the pressure is quite good and yeah we will keep you updated as we go on the trip, the hot water tank is 10l so should be plenty for both in the shower as we always have to use water sparingly anyway due to it being quite hard to source sometimes, it’s a case of rinse off soap up and rinse off so yeah definitely a compromise but to be honest most things in the van are , the shower room is a bit of a luxury in a camper but this one is definitely the biggest shower room we have had so should be good hopefully 😁
J&J and Amelia.....I also follow Dan (Australian / Canadian) on 'The Road Chose Me' YT channel. Dan is also planning an Artic adventure and his Jeep is currently being prepped up for this. It would be great if J&J..a.k.a TBT links up with him. Cheers!
That's a well priced project I thought it would be much more so well done now all you need to do is figure out a way so that the balls don't stick together in the freez happy venture 💪
Well done guys. Van looks great your video's are so enjoyable loads of informaton and ideas for anyone looking to build their own van and just the right amount of humour. I look forward to what comes next
@truebluetravellers can I be cheeky and ask your views on peugeot vans? A custom build has come up and we are sorely tempted but not sure on the peugeot.
One big saving of course for time and money is that it is ready insulated and no future rust issues. Lovely job, mine won’t cost that much cos I haven’t got £25k it’ll just be a bit more rustic looking. I live East Coast Scotland but will concede that West will give you more bang for your buck and snow is due ❄️ thanks again for sharing your build 🎉
Thanks Denise, yeah just like you say the insulation and no rust is a big benefit, it would be nice to do a budget one really as I think you could do it for probably £5k less and not be that much different in function just won’t be as bling with wheels etc but still be a cracking camper
😂 honestly I think it would be the best all round camper, small lightweight and could go most places, the only thing I’d like to do is get the body down lower, as it’s a bit tall, so maybe remove the c channels from the body 👌👌 I’ll try convince her again 😂😂
Was recommended the first video just after it came out, and I think this is the best camper build series on yt ! You guys have great chemistry, and you make even the $$ breakdown interesting. Such a cool build, excited to see where it takes you !
The van looks absolutely fantastic, enjoy your travels. Enjoyed watching all your videos so much, I’ve started watching my favourites again 😊. Looking forward to seeing if and how the unapproved bungee gets used, only in situ mind. It can’t be moved from it’s position 😂. See you next week 😬
A fantastic job, and to have completed it on a £25k budget to such a high standard is amazing. Clearly, your acquired knowledge on previous builds, and your extensive skill sets show in the final product. Loved the bloopers - you are so entertaining! Looking forward to the Scottish adventure.
Pure Gold💪 fantastic build series, fun, informative and brilliantly produced! Very cost effective for a van built specifically for your needs! Hope you make wonderful memories together!
Ive been hooked on your channel since day 1, the build was fascinating to watch ,the laughs were great. Look forward to more in the future,be proud of yourselves and safe journey ahead. Thanks guys.
How about some small shelf/list like supports on either wall to support the extended bed? Could be made to be very discreet and save you from the hassle with the loose leg?
An Epic Build for Epic upcoming adventures far and wide. Jon did miss a trick of adding one last Tool talk Tuesday. Looking forward to seeing you first real trip away. I have started to look at Supermarket Delivery Vans in a very different light and it looks like it is only the Sainsbury van and possibly Waitrose Van, not had on stop long enough to have a proper look round. the Box looks to be slightly longer too. I thought you were in Sandringham before you said that was were you were. Spent a far bit of time wondering around there with my Girls before they started to not want to do days out like that. It won't be long before they start to not want to come away with us. I think they now use proper Auto boxes on Sprinters now after the problems that sprint shift. Our is finally going into a Garage in Monday to have the Gearbox issue sorted and whilst they have it fix an oil leak and change the rear shocks as they are very crusty, and my drive isn't the best place to be jacking up the Motorhome to change them myself.
Ah brilliant glad she getting sorted mate, although I’ll keep my fingers crossed still untill u get the dreaded phone bill call, love Sandringham, we used to walk the dog there most weekends 😁
@@truebluetravellers Not expecting it to be cheap. Labour will run the cost up. Especially because of the awkward to work on factor with it being an A Class Motorhome, changing the headlight bulbs is a major faff, and it easier to buy new mounting lugs and just thump out the unit and replace broken lugs when about to refit it. As you have to get past the remains of the old inner wings before you hit the void to the side of them where the lights are housed. What you gain in space on the inside without the length you pay for when thing need fixing in the engine bay.
John just noticed an oversight.. you've no lights on the step over door inside storage boxes.. u could of also modded front bumper with lower foglights as u got the blanks & maybe the thin reflective orange side red rear marker tape for safety... also carry a broom to brush off snow.. looking forward to the journey ahead.!!! P.s u upgrade headlights to Nighteye LEDs wouldn't matter if u left them on as wouldn't get a flat battery... plus brighter!!!
Cheers mate all the wiring is there for side markers so might integrate them at some point. We’ve got a snow shovel which switches head to be snow broom and scraper 👍
@@truebluetravellers just make sure markers are not a legal requirement also reflectors over certain height for route your travelling especially in a snow storm u don't wanna be rear ended.. they do switchable orange white marker strips & orange red white etc on sides u have a nice 2 or 3m marker light in orange & switchable to an indicator.. other wire makes them white so u could use like a perimeter light.. switchable side marker strips & on rear they do full tail lights but 4ft strips u could run up edges to double up lower lights.. tail reverse indicator or brake/fog depending how u wire it.. just nice to be safe as it's not u it's the others u got2 watch out for so make yourself visable as possible... especially as your "white on white..."
Amazing build. Youre absolutely right those spinter autos are a brilliant drive. The next model definately not though. Later autos are very laggy on low speed rolling starts such as give way junctions. Sometimes you put your foot down a bit to continue and nothing happens. So you give it a bit more and nothing. So a bit more gas then BANG it kicks down very agressively and shoots forward. Theyre just a pain but can be made better by using the paddles to manually kick down or just come to a full stop junctions like that though that isnt always possible with traffic behind.
Really enjoyed watching this build. Your attention to detail and professional approach is first class and very clever Also the chemistry between you both is so funny, thanks for sharing
Congratulations on achieving such a high end finish. This series has been a great insight into van building and very entertaining too. I must however highlight one serious issue I have with your layout - your bed/cooker arrangement doesn't allow for a lazy morning cuppa in bed 😮 😮😢.
Thanks very much mate, I know it’s a travesty. We had originally planned the layout of the sink and cooker the other way but wouldn’t work with the tap. Thought about a fold away tap but I wash my hair in the sink a lot to save water to in the end it was the morning brew that got the chop
Brilliant guys. Well done it does look amazing love the bloopers 😂😂taking the labour out of you done well to build it on good decent budget.we just been quoted £20,000 to have our 2015 vauxhall vivaro minibus turned into camper van I did think of doing it myself but don’t think I am up to task I ain’t too clued up on the electrical side of it. We have coach built motor home just fancy the mini bus as second one for doing tight access routes as it would be ideal.
@@truebluetravellers am sure it is if you got patience for it.😂😂I spend most of my working life out on road bring a lorry driver and just don’t have time for building the minibus hence we looking at some one doing build on it for us so I ain’t got stress of it plus we go away regular in our Moho.and don’t really want to not do that love going away in her such a chilled out time when we away scutch I love about owning a motor home 👍🏽👍🏽
Found you guys on episode 1 of this build and I have to say I've absolutely loved watching what a fantastic job you have done converting an old supermarket vehicle, keep up the good work.
Fantastic build guys. You did exacly what I was saying to my mates- build fridge box camper because its square box. Thank you for 8 weeks of great videos. Waiting for your videos reminds me of childhood when I had to wait for next episode of my favourite cartoons😂 keep on filming!
Just got rid of my 69 plate sprinter auto was a good van overall never had to replace much apart from wear and tear if you put accelerator to pressure plate on floor on motorway then push beyond this again so pedal on actual floor puts it in sport mode lol gears drop turbo sounds with dump .Also if you push the brake pedal hard when stationary it should put the van on hold without needing to use handbrake....i ran this van 210000 miles .Delivery of my 73 plate in 2 weeks🏴
Nice, I had the new sprinter for work and really like them, not that I don’t like the older ones but the newer ones are just like more of a car drive again 👍

😂😂😂 thanks mate 👍
Looking forward to seeing you guys in the Arctic
Cheers mate, can’t wait to get going 😁
Well done guys. Van looks great your video's are so enjoyable loads of informaton and ideas for anyone looking to build their own van and just the right amount of humour. I look forward to what comes next
Thanks very much 👍 much appreciated 😁
I think your skill as labour costs would be huge if you had to pay for that. It would double the bill to get that level of finish.
What a lovely compliment thanks so much, means a lot 💙
Have enjoyed following along, knew this would be brilliant and all for under £25k...AMAZING. So excited for the nordic adventures to come...😊
That’s so kind of you Tracey thank you. We can’t wait!!
@truebluetravellers can I be cheeky and ask your views on peugeot vans? A custom build has come up and we are sorely tempted but not sure on the peugeot.
great van
Thanks 😁
@@truebluetravellers I know I shouldn’t encourage Jon but the delivery van body onto a 4x4 idea is genius haha
😂 honestly I think it would be the best all round camper, small lightweight and could go most places, the only thing I’d like to do is get the body down lower, as it’s a bit tall, so maybe remove the c channels from the body 👌👌 I’ll try convince her again 😂😂
That was a *BEEPING good breakdown of costs vid, GJ guys keep the fun coming :)
😂😂😂 brilliant 👍
Was recommended the first video just after it came out, and I think this is the best camper build series on yt ! You guys have great chemistry, and you make even the $$ breakdown interesting. Such a cool build, excited to see where it takes you !
Ah thanks very much that so kind of you to say, thanks for following along with us 😁
Team j j …. Now that’s were it’s at ……safe travels ❤
😂😂 thanks 😁💙
Stunning . 😊
Thanks Gary 😁
The van looks absolutely fantastic, enjoy your travels. Enjoyed watching all your videos so much, I’ve started watching my favourites again 😊. Looking forward to seeing if and how the unapproved bungee gets used, only in situ mind. It can’t be moved from it’s position 😂. See you next week 😬
😂😂😂😂 Bloody bungee!! It might ‘accidentally’ snap, or maybe I’ll ‘slip’ with the knife while cooking dinner 😂 means a lot to us Sue thank you 💙
Inspiring content, funny and informative. Great mix.
Easy watching and motivational : boom, 👌
Thanks mate much appreciated 👍👍👍
What a fabulous job you’ve done, congratulations! If only I had the skills you both have! Looking forward to your Arctic adventures!
Thanks very much 😁
Looks fab but the only criticism would be swapping the sink for the cooker so you don't set light to your bedding 😁
Thanks, yeah that was the original plan but unfortunately can’t do it that way as the slide out bed would hit the tap 👍
A fantastic job, and to have completed it on a £25k budget to such a high standard is amazing. Clearly, your acquired knowledge on previous builds, and your extensive skill sets show in the final product. Loved the bloopers - you are so entertaining! Looking forward to the Scottish adventure.
Thanks guys, it’s a been a really fun van to build with some new challenges which is the nice thing about doing different vehicles, 👍 😁
We need a complete field report on how the bungy performed.
😂😂😂 she’s still looking the part 👌👌👌
Pure Gold💪 fantastic build series, fun, informative and brilliantly produced! Very cost effective for a van built specifically for your needs! Hope you make wonderful memories together!
Thanks Paul, lovely of you to say 💙 I hope she does us proud 👍
Ive been hooked on your channel since day 1, the build was fascinating to watch ,the laughs were great. Look forward to more in the future,be proud of yourselves and safe journey ahead. Thanks guys.
Thanks very much Chris 😁
This may be a daft question, if you are going to the arctic where it's -20 odd, how do you stop the belly tanks from freezing up?
The tank we have underneath is just for the shower which we will leave open, the sink tank is inside the van 👍
How about some small shelf/list like supports on either wall to support the extended bed? Could be made to be very discreet and save you from the hassle with the loose leg?
If we were to do it again we might give this way a go to see which was is best as I like the idea but could work out a better way to do it
An Epic Build for Epic upcoming adventures far and wide.
Love the van, love your videos.
Congratulations. I'll love to have one as cosy as yours.
Lot's of good ideas.
Thank you.
That’s so nice of you thanks so much 💙💙
Loved watching this video guys! What a build and what a journey it’s been! 👍
Cheers jona, can’t wait to test the old girl out now 👍
John just noticed an oversight.. you've no lights on the step over door inside storage boxes.. u could of also modded front bumper with lower foglights as u got the blanks & maybe the thin reflective orange side red rear marker tape for safety... also carry a broom to brush off snow.. looking forward to the journey ahead.!!!
Loved the bloopers ❤❤
Not too bad to behonest with the cost for what you both put in to it. Truly amazing van and well worth it 😊
😂😂 glad you enjoyed it 😂thanks very much that’s a really nice compliment 💙
Amazing build. Youre absolutely right those spinter autos are a brilliant drive. The next model definately not though. Later autos are very laggy on low speed rolling starts such as give way junctions. Sometimes you put your foot down a bit to continue and nothing happens. So you give it a bit more and nothing. So a bit more gas then BANG it kicks down very agressively and shoots forward. Theyre just a pain but can be made better by using the paddles to manually kick down or just come to a full stop junctions like that though that isnt always possible with traffic behind.
Oh that’s interesting to know, no wonder so many people have slated them if that’s what they were like
Really well made video, it all links together perfectly, not "dry" at all. Thanks for the cost info.
That’s lovely of you to say thank you 💙
Something that may help in future with the small space- Simon Giertz new coat hanger that folds in half!
Someone sent me this video the other day, they look well cool 👍
You must be so proud of your efforts great job
Thanks very much 😁
@@truebluetravellers I have enjoyed your build videos very much fantastic camera presenters and very funny too
Lots of love to you both
The Van turned out great well done guys. You are a great team 👏 👍
Thanks mate 👍
Amazing build, loved the bloopers 😂
😂 thanks 😁😁
Great job, really enjoyed the series, looking forward to your adventures in the snow!
Thanks very much, not going to lie, the cold is worrying me slightly but can’t wait to see it all 😁
I’ve loved watching you guys build this from start to finish , my Sundays won’t be the same .
Aus ,
Thanks very much Colin, it’s lovely of you to say 😁
Really enjoyed watching this build. Your attention to detail and professional approach is first class and very clever
Also the chemistry between you both is so funny, thanks for sharing
Thanks very much 😁👍
Congratulations on achieving such a high end finish.
Cheers mate, to be honest I had no clue about the electric side either but it’s actually quite simple once you break it all down, 😁😁👍👍
@@truebluetravellers am sure it is if you got patience for it.😂😂I spend most of my working life out on road bring a lorry driver and just don’t have time for building the minibus hence we looking at some one doing build on it for us so I ain’t got stress of it plus we go away regular in our Moho.and don’t really want to not do that love going away in her such a chilled out time when we away scutch I love about owning a motor home 👍🏽👍🏽
Excellent result guys, loved every minute of every episode ❤ Happy travelling 👍❤️🇬🇧
Thanks very much 👍
Only just come across you guys what a fantastic project very entertaining and funny well done and congrats on a super transformation
Thanks very much for giving us a go, so glad you enjoyed ut
Found you guys on episode 1 of this build and I have to say I've absolutely loved watching what a fantastic job you have done converting an old supermarket vehicle, keep up the good work.
That’s so lovely of you to say and much appreciated thank you 💙
It’s a belter of a van that’s for sure! Hope you both have many happy travels in it over the coming years. 👍
Thanks very much mark 😁
John, you got some mad good skills mate. Love to have the knowledge your have! Well done vans spot on
Thanks very much mate 👍 that’s much appreciated 👍
Brilliantly wrapped. Well done again guys. Sorry the builds over as it's such a great watch. Enjoy your adventures in it. Looking forward to next week
Thanks terry, can’t wait to test it out properly 😁
Hey, just got done Bartending here in Milwaukee. Having a Beer at 1am and watching you guys.
Oh thanks Mark 💙💙
Happy adventures folks, great series and can’t wait to see your first trip in the van!
Thanks mate 👍
Fantastic build guys. You did exacly what I was saying to my mates- build fridge box camper because its square box. Thank you for 8 weeks of great videos. Waiting for your videos reminds me of childhood when I had to wait for next episode of my favourite cartoons😂 keep on filming!
😂😂 cheers mate, yep the square walls are a game changer 👍👌
Enjoyed the build and fun you 2 have on my favourite you tubers list now
Ah thanks Graham, that’s lovely of you to say 💙
Loved❤ this series
Thanks tony 😁💙
