In regards to cutting games, I'm interested in seeing interesting games whether they're wins or losses, but I have no issue with cutting all the games where you just flood/screw or otherwise get run over.
Definitely! show games where there is a good fight, and so what if you lost? Give the viewers the best matches. I’d way rather watch a close loss over a blow out
Dude you’re probably the most open and honest youtuber i’ve ever seen…honestly I certainly appreciate seeing the losses so I can gauge for myself how good any given list is, but like you said, I would definitely be kidding myself if I didn’t say watching those losses can be a bit tiresome sometimes
Granted, but I don't need to see games where his opponent staggered and he was in control early - you know the outcome when he has a mitt full of control

I watch a couple other magic players and I find myself leaving videos at times when the deck doesn't interest me and they're losing. However when it comes to your videos I'm always there watching 100% through wins and losses. I just enjoy watching you play and discussing the game. You're entertaining even when you're not winning.
Never turned off a video because of the content only ever turn it off when I'm either busy or its over. Love the content CGB keep it up! We're devoted!
I've liked the changed formatting. The extended intro and the drop off of the outro seems good if it's keeping your fanbase. And honestly, I'm here for the entertainment. I always want to see if there's a deck I'd like to play being showcased before I go in on it. CGB, you're my go-to for that entertainment.
Long time watcher, first time commenter. I like the purity of the video. Win or loss. I think it shows the good and bad of any deck. Like you said, we all loose in arena and reaction to those losses are sometimes frustrating. For people closing during your loss are not here for the purity of the game. I say keep all games and your unhappy reaction because it’s real content not edited.
Thanks CGB! I usually watch the outro…. One of the things I like is the stats. The other thing I like in an outro would be a deep dive into how the deck fits in the meta. Is it S tier? A tier? Junk? What does it hunt? What hunts it? How can we sideboard for aggressive meta vs control meta vs midrange meta? What cards are the top 20% of the deck? I know it’s a lot of work, but analysis is so helpful in understanding how we want to spend wildcards. Keep up the good work!
That Go Blank in the first mirror felt good enough to make the nausea caused by two magicians Fading Hopin’ their Liers to death subside. A rough one, but we made it through. Dope games/decks as always bro 😎
My Esper planeswalker deck has had epic matchups against mono-green. It's always fun. Thanks for reminding me about Vanishing Verse, somehow I forgot to add it to my deck!
I'd say just have a summary of games at the end. One summary slide saying "5 games, 1 - Beat Monowhite, 2-landscrew, 3-stomped by monored, 4- great control, 5- close trade at end" Then you capture it for the nerds that want it, but no one has to watch the bore.
I really want to see a bench of different match up, difficult ones so maybe losses. By seing those plays and hearing your thoughts on the spot, it will help me to understand the purpose of the deck. And yeah, you can cut floody and screwdy games; it's ok I guess since I got enough irl :) You're cool.
I’ll say just for me, long time fan: I wanna see you play Magic, man. Win/lose/whatever. So take that for whatever it’s worth. It’s just how games work. You put out what you wanna put out and hopefully the fans will fuck with it. Experiment on, have fun and thanks for all the content brother!
yeah i actually like the outro. i don't want to know the final win rate of the deck before he plays the games, i like the mystery. guess i can just skip ahead.
@@toof987 I don't mind getting the stats up front. But I like hearing his thoughts before he plays vs after he plays. It helps to show where his mind is at with certain card choices and how those worked out. The difference in his excitement to try a new deck in a video with an outro vs seeing how much of a slog he went through upfront when there's no outro kinda hurts to watch sometimes. Not to mention the abrupt ending of the video right after the last game. Seeing the deck in action and how it plays is more important to me than the raw W:L stats. But CGB's thought process is what makes the outro good.
I enjoy watching interesting games, win or lose. Mana problems or getting run over makes games boring regardless of who wins. I think most of the matches you choose to showcase are great and I always watch to the end. I also prefer to see the outros after the games so that I have some perspective on your decisions and recommendations for the deck.
Love that "oops" at the end of game one in response to opponent's oops on duress (as if a turn 1 duress is an oops play, like seriously, it's a fantastic play since you can't know what you're up against. Just a dbag move from opponent)
Been trying to make a decent esper control list for a few days after getting clowned on the ladder by what I'm pretty sure was a Patron with this exact list LOL Thanks for uploading sick content every day, CGB ❤️
I'm so glad you have showed plenty of losses, because it shows me two important things. First, since I believe CGB is a skilled player, it helps me understand that when I have a miserable string of matchups I'm not the only one. Second, it highlights the fact that Magic the Gathering is a fancy game of poker/chess. It doesn't matter how good the player or deck is, I can only play with a random selection of those cards. That said, I think it would be cool if you summed up losses with a one sentence summary or just a screenshot of the board state so we can a feel for how that game ended. Maybe you could include that stuff at the end for the Cool Kids Club. ; )
Thanks for the video as usual. Awesome intro, with very relevant considerations. You know your data the best but one angle i didn´t hear you consider was at what point in your videos you usual add you first loss. I do feel i usually watch approx. three games before the itchyness for trying your deck kicks in and i turn of your video. If that has got a coincidental occurence at the same time as your first loss i would be in that statistic but for another reason. I´m not saying your analysis is wrong, im just saying people might be in the category "turn of when losing" for the wrong reason. Writing this during the first game so i don´t know how the video is going to go yet. Future me might have something to say then ;)
Well my take is... perfect practice makes perfect. I watch your videos to help me get better at the game, whilst being entertained. So I'd say "close" games are great win/lose, but when you just run the table it also shows a bunch of things to learn.
I always stay near the end because I rock dual monitor so the second monitor constantly has something playing on it while I do my thang on the main one so I dont mind the length of video or if it contains wins or loses lol its your channel upload whatever man, you're cool 😎
I definitely lose interest in total blowout games so I don't mind those being cut. The "never found doomskar" games are so hard to watch. Close losses on the other hand, where the game is 30min of back and forth, are very entertaining and I find that I learn a lot more from those losses.
PS I'm having so much fun with this deck but it's been really interesting to see the how differently I've been paired compared to your stats on untapped. I've been matched up against Izzet Turns 6 times so far (2-4 win rate) and mono white twice (1-1 win rate).
Just for curiosity: I don't play Arena, I just like Magic and watching people that I somewhat respect pilot a deck. Therefore, I don't care if the games are mostly losses or wins, but I understand that I am a minority. Not many people have time to watch hours and hours of people playing a videogame that they don't play (nor have the interest to do so). Nevertheless, great content, as always. I'll probably keep watching until Magic is not entertaining to me anymore, so yeah, that's my feedback
I am in the same position and agree with most of what you said. The only thing I am a bit different is that I don't enjoy the majority loss videos, I will still watch them but maybe stop depending on mood, thats out of anyone's control but I thought it was better to give an honest feedback.
@@RuneDrageon makes sense. I think that the fact that the videos are not live cuts makes the losses tougher to watch through. It's not nice to lose playing a game alone while you record yourself. The interaction with chat makes it more bearable, I believe 🤔🤔
Well i'm new and wanna learn so i also like your thougths - thats why im watchting to the end - and you are very entertaining too so i like whenever i can and am watching where i cant too - you are cool
I personally don't mind the losses. Seeing them is another thing to learn from, especially since you're often pretty quick to summarize the biggest points of failure, whether it just be a really unfavorable matchup you couldn't work around fast enough or a streak of fatal mistakes or just a desolate mana pool.
I watch all your videos entirely. Im the minority that likes losses. If the game is interesting, doesnt matter who wins. I really like the outro tho, when you explain what you could have done differently. Yesterday it felt a bit weird how it ended. No outro, just "i should have played better" , bam the end. Felt pretty, hushed, i think is the word. Love your content, CGB. You are awesome. Much love from Brazil.
I'll give my feedback too. I personally prefer regular outros over a long intro but it's not really that different Cut games should mostly be mana screw/flood on either side, while seeing losses is interesting when the opponed played particularly well (maybe around a counter or removal spell) Since you are experimenting I suggest using timestamps: they help navigate the video when looking for a specific game or play
Was there any explanation given for the choice of Behold the Multiverse versus Memory Deluge? Maybe I missed it somewhere in the video. Behold is solid but it seems like Deluge became the new draw spell of choice
i do not play Magic, and i like the lost games and the longer they last the better i find them. and i subscribed to you for those nonsense decks with infinite loops and milling opponent etc. i would like to see again those. thanks for making videos every day keep it up
I like watching loses if they aren't blowouts. I don't enjoy watching something like you getting mana screwed. I do enjoy watching you play from behind because you are very informative on your decisions and I feel like watching those games where you are trying to scrape a win together helps me learn and become a better player.
Not all losses are interesting - land screw, floods, etc. they aren't really interesting - games where you loose because of a strategic misplay (not a mistake) are the ones I like - not to make fun of you - we are all human - but because there is no way to make a perfect play if you don't have perfect awareness - if an opponent is able to bluff you or force you into a play that turns the game - those are the places where we can learn or at least get the confidence to work with and make those choices in the future. Just my two cents - this is also why decks like Tibalt's trickery and winota tend to be so boring - mono red agro/embercleave also - I mean those decks can win like crazy - but they aren't interesting.
I agree, matches where you lose due to bad mana, not drawing specific cards, etc. often aren’t very interesting to watch, but the games where you lose because of some specific play, whether that be from you or from your opponent, those ones can be a good learning moment for us viewers.
@@ryangainey94 There is a reason streamers didn't play just those decks even when they were overwhelming. That was my point and it's valid despite them rotating out. Same reason we don't see CGB play mono green every game or Izzet.
While it is true that I find myself tuning out more when you're loosing, it is also true that I stopped watching some channels like mono black completely because they only show wins. After a while it's not interesting to watch a tight game if I know you're going to win by the end.
I'm a big fan of you CGB, especially your control lists. You're epic sultai list was amazing. As far as you losing games causing a drop in audience, personally, I don't mind watching games with you getting screwed or wrecked; however, I will admit, I don't like watching games that you lose due to a player mistake. This could be because I put you up on a pedestal, for youre aphenomenal player, so that could be a ME problem. You are human, and mistakes happen.
can you post two of them? like a video of the day for the losses and recap what and why something went wrong, or if it was just mono red doing mono red things
Somehow had a meathook and a lier in draft yesterday, with two bounce spells (that draw when its ur own permanent!). I felt unbeatable, and disgusting. And was!
I like the outros, bc I’m cool, and I accept I’m in the minority viewership. I don’t mind your whinging and it’s truly refreshing (like minty gum) to see that, even though you are a seriously skilled top notch player, there are sometimes greater players that put you down (and I’m counting the match maker and shuffler as players bc they are the most diabolical oppos you will ever encounter imo)
Please correct me if I'm wrong; when Lier is on the battlefield and you fading hope, snakeskin doesn't work right? Due to spells not being able to be countered? BTW I am one of the people that like to see all your games warts and all; and if anything I really like the losses to see if I would have played out the same way and lost the game as well. With your stats, does it take into account someone like me who watches your videos over the course of a day or two? I rarely watch a video in one sitting; due to life.
I would put in Indu Inversion instead of plains, especially that you have no Field of ruins in this. Just wiping off the whole boardstate feels so good
Hey CGB, just wanted to give you some feedback on your recent experiments (for what little it's worth - I'm a single data point after all): 1. I don't mind seeing some losses (in fact I'd go off the vids if they were *only* wins) but I did find the recent video where you spoiled that there were two painful losses due to mistakes to be very off-putting - my brain just focussed from that point on looking for the mistakes and not enjoying the games. So apparently I can't handle spoilers! 2. I really miss outros when you don't have them - bookends are good. When you don't get time to record them due to emergencies etc it's no big deal but I'd miss them if they weren't there permanently. 3. I like seeing sequences of games in the order they were played. The standard event videos where you included all the games felt like a more complete "story" to me than the ones where you sampled a few and those were more enjoyable videos overall. 4. Could you potentially include secondary videos linked to the main video that are the full unedited series of games for those of us who are really into seeing the "whole story"? I wouldn't watch every one but I can see myself watching them occasionally and it would be good to have them available. 5. I really do enjoy the various tuned versions of control decks. As a control player, seeing the evolution of your thinking across a format is really interesting and motivational. 6. No, *you're* cool.
I don't want an uncut experience, but if you do get runover, I like seeing like 1 game of you getting run over every 1-2 videos. Reminds me that it happens to even the best of us, haha.
At 35:07 why didn't you replay the Lier that they already knew you had instead of playing your top deck? Was keeping that information secret not as strategically important at that stage of the game?
Interesting win/loss talk. The way that I view your videos is I’ll start and stop them many times during the day till I finish watching them. I will admit that getting mana screwed is one of the most common triggers for me to stop the video for a bit. Those games are always rough to watch. They second most common reason to take a break is repetitive opponents. I know you can’t overly control that, but watching three games in a row vs mono white does get old and attention is lost for a time. All that to say I’m more in the edited bracket. I don’t mind watching good losses but enjoy diverse opponents with no mana screw the most. Hope this helps.
It might be a controversial option, but I am also mostly interested in the victories. That is because I consider you a great player, and that your losses are mostly due to bad draw/luck rather than blatant errors, while I am more interested to see how you win in a difficult situation to learn the game.
What does 60% on play and 60% on draw means? 60% of the games won when on the play and 60% of games won when on the draw? If it is so how can the overall be 70%? What am I missing?
The *best* time to Vanishing Verse an Esika's Chariot is when they activate the crewing but before it resolves. It's especially triggering for them when they have a Snakeskin Veil in their hand but can't use it.
As far as cutting games, I would say that the standard events were great for that. Having ALL the games were awesome. Said as a token-level patreon... ;)
I think losses are important to show, but not losses due to flooding or mana screw. Those losses suck and nobody can do something about those. But a close match that results in a loss is great to watch imo. I've tried the deck but because I have no Doomskars I put in 4x Vanquish the Horde plus 2 Sunset Revelries. They work very well together!
Depends on how the losing game is I guess. If it’s a slow grind with a bad draw where nothing much interesting happens for 20 minutes then yea I wouldn’t be quite so interested. If it’s a shorter game that well illustrates the problems of the deck, how it played, then I’d like seeing that. You could also maybe cut through those games? Although one thing I really like is that these vids barely have any cuts and are long. I just really enjoy watching you play tbh, and it’s nice how this isn’t some CONDENSED CONTENT with jump cuts explosions and hype packed into a ten minute highlight reel. If I get into the video I’ll sit for the full hour and that’s one thing that’s really nice about this channel. Maybe in the outro/deck summary you could show snippets of some losing games if you don’t show them often in the main vid
In regards to cutting games, I'm interested in seeing interesting games whether they're wins or losses, but I have no issue with cutting all the games where you just flood/screw or otherwise get run over.
I really enjoyed the close loss in the first game one or two videos ago.
It’s Part of the Full MTG Experience

Winota and Embercleave rotated out sir. That's why you never see them anymore
After a while it's not interesting to watch a tight game if I know you're going to win by the end.
experiment and find what makes you happy with your videos. ill always be here cgb :)
Cut where you wanna. Make that money! And thanks as always for the games.
Meathook Massacre is a very good reason to add black to the azorious pile from yesterday. When you cant find doomskar the meat will save you.
Oh God, what a pile. Many thanks
thanks for being a straight shooter CGB
can you post two of them? like a video of the day for the losses and recap what and why something went wrong, or if it was just mono red doing mono red things
Just wiping off the whole boardstate feels so good
Starting @27:45 to 30:20 that is 9 lands in 10 cards! I would have scooped right then and there. F THAT!
41:13 **me who has heard WAP 😳**
I really like tuning videos, doesn't have to always be new deck slight changes can go a long way
Hey CGB, just wanted to give you some feedback on your recent experiments (for what little it's worth - I'm a single data point after all):
I stay until the end regarless of the losses. Losses are more relevant when you play a standard event rather than the usual ladder
I don't want an uncut experience, but if you do get runover, I like seeing like 1 game of you getting run over every 1-2 videos. Reminds me that it happens to even the best of us, haha.
How can you be at 70% win rate total but 60% on both play and draw? I'm not very familiar with the stats screen, sorry...
At 35:07 why didn't you replay the Lier that they already knew you had instead of playing your top deck? Was keeping that information secret not as strategically important at that stage of the game?
You can tell that's your card by its sleeve ))
Interesting win/loss talk. The way that I view your videos is I’ll start and stop them many times during the day till I finish watching them. I will admit that getting mana screwed is one of the most common triggers for me to stop the video for a bit. Those games are always rough to watch.
They second most common reason to take a break is repetitive opponents. I know you can’t overly control that, but watching three games in a row vs mono white does get old and attention is lost for a time.
All that to say I’m more in the edited bracket. I don’t mind watching good losses but enjoy diverse opponents with no mana screw the most. Hope this helps.
Ditto
That mirror match was deLierious
It might be a controversial option, but I am also mostly interested in the victories. That is because I consider you a great player, and that your losses are mostly due to bad draw/luck rather than blatant errors, while I am more interested to see how you win in a difficult situation to learn the game.
I’ve learned a lot from watching him make mistakes and explaining why it was a mistake afterwards.
What does 60% on play and 60% on draw means? 60% of the games won when on the play and 60% of games won when on the draw? If it is so how can the overall be 70%? What am I missing?
I got my metal shark token today. Thank you.
I'm looking through all the loss and win, but only if the deck is of my fav color, does it count for half ?
Maybe the ones who like the losses could find an uncut version on a patreon that you make?
The *best* time to Vanishing Verse an Esika's Chariot is when they activate the crewing but before it resolves. It's especially triggering for them when they have a Snakeskin Veil in their hand but can't use it.
As far as cutting games, I would say that the standard events were great for that. Having ALL the games were awesome. Said as a token-level patreon... ;)
Is there a particolar reason you choosed behold the multiverse over deluge inside this deck?
I think losses are important to show, but not losses due to flooding or mana screw. Those losses suck and nobody can do something about those. But a close match that results in a loss is great to watch imo. I've tried the deck but because I have no Doomskars I put in 4x Vanquish the Horde plus 2 Sunset Revelries. They work very well together!
I've seen about 7 Meathook decks in a row, and frankly it's giving me a lot of trouble.
Whatever you post I’m gonna watch.
