it all makes sense now, Day[9] was playing the long game all along when he moved away from Starcraft related content, he was just building up a huge new audience just to bring them all to the best e-sport of all time

Love to see you doing Brood War again! If at least for a little bit. 41:55 When I first heard "Cracklings" innocent, young little me thought it was because they moved like lightning. So they crackled. Years later when I figured out what it really meant, zerglings "on crack," I was honestly kind of disappointed.
A small correction on damage, the actual formula is (Attack - Armor) * Size Modification. (Yes, its unit size, large/medium/small and not heavy/medium/light, but that's just semantics.) The size modification for explosive vs small (Hydralisk with 10 attack vs Zealot with 1 base armor) is .5, meaning it starts as (10 - 1) * .5 = 4.5. This translates to displaying 4 or 5 damage per hit. Once you get +1 armor, it becomes (10 - 2) * .5 = 4. It's effectively a .5 damage swing for every attack/armor upgrade for hydralisks against zealots. It's still a sizable difference, but the MUCH larger difference is when zerg starts to switch into cracklings. The size modification is 1, so every armor upgrade over a zerg's attack upgrade is 1 damage prevented per hit, when the damage starts at 4 (5 - 1).
I knew there was a reason I stayed subscribed through the drought, and it was to see the thousand yard stare > smile > facepalm build order on Sean's face when someone asked him what Gosu was.
The ludonarrative of Protoss being in the role of trying to contain the Zerg while the Zerg are trying to spread around the map like wildfire is... exquisite.
additionally just in case anyone ever hears it said, Hasu is a disrespectful way to say Chobo, bascially Hasu would be like calling someone a "Scrub" where as Chobo is like said more equivilent to calling someone a beginner or a newbie.
@@PrimordialEconomics Source for that? From what I can tell it comes from 高手 ('high hand'). With it being pronounced _gaoshou_ in Chinese and would be pronounced _koushu_ in Japanese it makes quite the good case for it being the same etymology. Furthermore 'hand' is used to mean 'athlete' in Chinese and Japanese, making the compound itself seem likely.
40:00 Armor doesn't work that way. First the attack is decreased by the amount of armor and after that the armor type multiplier applies. So if hydra has 10 atk and zealot has 2 armor the hydra deals (10 - 2) * 0.5 = 4 damage. That means that every armor decreases the damage by 0.5
"Crack" is a slang for something very capable, like "crack troops", or a "crack shot". I like to think that's at least part of the reason cracklings are called cracklings... Of course, at first they're called speedlings, so I suppose people infer that they're on speed, and when they start attacking faster it does seem like they've gotten a stimulant upgrade 😅
Bro! Please post daily starcraft, you are a great addition to artosis, tasteless, nyoken, saiyan and the rest of the crew. I ve always believed you should represent zerg race on the official tastosis asl tournament. Is also a relief to see brood war coming back as the best Rts of all time.
I dunno, man, I think he'd be a better protoss. Don't know why. And Tasteless? I would not want to see them together, I mean, they have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING in common (except for the surname, but that's just coincidence). Besides, I doubt he'd be any good at Broodwar. Just saying.
I gotta say, Starcraft HD looks nice and all, except for the part where the HD textures reveal that basically every Zerg building has a butthole of some kind
I like the idea, but 4 syllables is way too long when 1 gets the point across very clearly. We need to figure out something equally snappy if we want to get it to stick whatsoever.
@@HasekuraIsuna It is a tomato/tomato situation. I taught A&P at university for several years, and I'm going to be a PA soon. Dear lord I realize how much useless BW knowledge I still have. Maybe I'll get back into getting just crushed online one day to apply it. So happy to see this, I've been following since you were on this other platform back in the BW days. I'd love to see more some day
Day9 doesn't have the streaming rights. Afreeca owns those replays, Tasteless and Artosis pay for the streaming rights to rebroadcast ASL with English commentary.
Gosu can apparently mean a highly skilled person, a drummer, an unpleasant form of sensation, or the spice coriander. Of course these are all spelled (and possibly pronounced) differently from each other in the original Korean, so it's a bit unfair to poke fun 😅
A fair few do! It's becoming more and more common for higher level PvZ to have at least one Dark Archon made and hidden away in case of mutalisks. Their AoE stun absolutely crushes clumped mutalisks when paired with a storm or really any sort of splash damage. Once the danger of early mutalisks passes, they tend to be brought out with the main army to lockdown clumped hydralisks to make them fantastic storm targets. Dark Archons are pretty expensive, with making that one and upgrading Maelstrom, being a 350/300 investment, so many players still prefer having 2 additional high templar and 2 additional zealots. 4-6 more storms compared to 1-2 maelstroms can be a convincing argument. There are also excellent fringe cases in PvP where both sides opened DT into forge expand, causing both to go in to storm drops and skipping reavers, in which dark archons are occasionally made for feedback. These cases are quite rare, but always a treat to see.
Oh, DAY9.. I remember when you boycotted Blizzard bc of the bad sexual allegations and now I hear you dipped your toe in it again? How magnificient of your grace. “Crackling” 100% comes from crack-cocaine cmon

100% crack cocaine. I remember when the term appeared.
"That protoss doesn't seem very good" - Said someone who probably only ever played the SC1 campaigns.
I’m so happy so see Day9 back to BroodWar content!

Found this after watching Day9 play through the campaign and it got me playing BW again :P
Came for the BW, stayed for the Malort references. I would watch you cover BW content all day, every day, Day9

Thank you Day9
i love when day9 does starcraft stuff
It’s the Day[9] Decadley
What year is it?
A great one, apparently
Fuuuuuuuuu. Jaedong gameplay? Man i miss these days
This is from last week

So glad to see you back to StarCraft.

"GOSU TIMES 2" I am in tears lmaooo

We're all Jaedong.
Gosu (Korean: 고수) is a Korean term used to refer to a highly skilled person.
