I could grow accustomed to watching Day9 talk Starcraft to me again. There has never been a more enjoyable way to spend my time watching internet videos.
Very memorable and impactful fusion of acoustic and electronic rock/metal with swings between hopeful and dangerous tones, somewhere on a spectrum of epic fantasy and military sci-fi. I swear there's one riff straight from the Alien movie.
Stopping 4 seconds into the replay and spending 1m 15s talking about the bridges? This is some sweet, sweet content. I'm all about the tactical relevance of those bridges.
Sadream is actually Ample! He played in ASL 15 and 16 where he famously upset Soma in ASL15 but failed to proceed to the Round of 16. In ASL16 he beat Queen/Zero twice in another upset to proceed to Round of 16 where he had an Upset again by eliminating Bisu, but then got eliminated himself by none other than HerO.
I've been watching basically every evening this week. It's been a while since I watched this much day9. There's probably a ton of nostalgia there, and I'm sure this "high" won't last forever / might get stale again after a while but for now, I'm really enjoying this. Gives me cozy warm feelz.
I am not a pro or anything, so don't take my word for granted, but I assume the drop and speed upgrades are too expensive early on and later the micromanagement may not be worth it. That said there are probably some niche scenarios in scrappy late games where Zergs should consider this tactic more.
I’ve heard great things about the shield battery launcher if you wanted to give that a try for some online 1v1. The launcher needs more visibility anyways, give it an honest review? Without more support it seems that the community will have to divorce blizzard once again.
Starcraft broodwar is really just a game of pure APM. Even at the highest levels - if you have insanely high APM that is actually doing something (not just spamming), you will 9/10 times defeat your opponent who has less APM. Your ability to out micro and consistently keep your macro going efficiently will win the game. Assuming you know the meta for your race this holds true 90% of the time.
so cool to hear day9's take about playing this map as zerg, because I totally agree! I always heard people saying that zerg is so good here because their muta harass is amazing on the natural, and while true, I think vs decent opponents you will end up losing out more due to how hard taking anything beyond a 3rd is.
In terms of unit upgrades, why would we NOT want to be committed to certain units or strategies? In terms of psychology, we're much more likely to care about what we're doing if our choices build on each other. If it feels like you're making choices randomly or just reactively, you're probably having less fun.
It's really weird to think that Sean has been casting about as long as I've been an EMT. I saw him finish college, then I finished college over 10 years later (we're about the same age lololol) The downside is that now I'm trying to apply to medical school at 36. I wonder if Sean'll still be casting when/if I'm finally a doctor. That reminds me I need to go take another stupid MCAT practice exam after this video.
