Nestle Purina is encouraging Facebook fans to let their dog play a starring role in a version of its new Pro Plan TV commercial, Great, by Leo Burnett/Arc. Visitors to the Great Videos section of its Facebook page can upload footage of their own pooch and it'll be added to the footage of 'great' dogs in the video, which they can then share. The official version of the ad (shown here) airs tonight during the 136th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. As a side note, the original music for the TV spot was written and performed by Leo Burnett/Arc VP, creative director, Tony Rogers.
Purina has also launched an interactive mobile website as part of the campaign, where dog lovers can find out more about their breeds and what they can do.

This video always makes me smile and cry at the same time. Is there anything better than a dogs unconditional love? They may grow old but they never grow up and leave you or hurt your feelings. Always glad to see you whether you've been gone 10 minutes or 10 hours. And as I'm typing this I have 2 boxers by my side on the loveseat and one passed out on the couch. Life is good.

I watch this ad whenever I need a good cry....I know it isn't meant to be sad, but it makes me remember the dogs we've lost over the years and reminds me that the 3 we currently have are such a joy and only here a short time. If there really is an afterlife, I hope we are all greeted by the dogs who shared some time with us and loved us unconditionally.

Here in 2020...This commercial always hits home...I always close my eyes and see all of my pets that were ALWAYS so loyal and loving, and when they passed away a part of me went with them...Parents please teach your kids at a young age how important their pets should always be...My little Daisy Mae (all 180 lbs of here...Great Dane) was such a massive part of my son growing up...He finally was brave enough to sleep in his own bed, as long as Daisy was there...He wasn't afraid to stay home by himself as he got older, as long as Daisy was with him...Friday nights, after his football games, he would come home, all exhausted and bruised up, but he always wanted to fix him a pallet on the couch and cuddle up with his sweet Daisy Mae...Several years ago when we had the massive tornado break out, my son, my mother, myself, and of course our beloved Daisy Mae went seeking shelter in the small town we live in...The weather was coming down on us hard, and we made it to the local big tornado shelter...As we went inside, the "mayor" said for us all to take cover, but we would have to leave our beloved Daisy outside...Without even a second hesitation my son, my mother, myself, and of course Daisy Mae immediately went back into the storms, got in our truck and drove away...Just praying that God would spare us...But there was absolutely NO WAY that we could just leave her outside by herself as we hunkered down in the shelter safely...If Daisy wasn't good enough to come in, then we weren't good enough either...Absolutely no way we could leave her behind...Luckily the Good Lord spared us that night...But if he wouldn't have, we would have all gone together...YES, SHE MEANT THAT MUCH TO US...Never a day goes by that I dont think of her...How lucky we were to have her in our lives for 11 years...A dog will show you love unconditionally...They dont care if you're rich or poor, popular or shy, ugly or beautiful, they love you for what you really are...if only we could love each other those ways...I miss you might sweet Daisy Mae...I cant wait til I see you again.

Commercial is so good, although really depressing when I saw it was for purina. Can't think of a worse dog food company. Maybe "pro plan" is good, but their other stuff is straight corn and chemicals.

I had a dog named "Bear". He was born a runt and was given to me because the owners believed he wouldn't make it. 4 months later he lived up to his name! Grew to be a very big Boy!! A year after he was stolen from me while I was at work and forced to fight and was killed. Word got back to me who stole him and I beat tha sh** outta him and his friends! To this day I have a restraining order placed on me! (I Got em for ya Boy) R.I.P. BEAR
I don't know why, but I cry like a baby whenever this comes on! Literally harder than any sad movie I've ever seen. I couldn't begin to explain my love for animals, especially dogs. It hurts my soul that their lives are so short. Rather than breeding for looks, we should have bred for longevity. I would give anything for my dogs to live 10 years before the start aging and at least 20 before the start withering away.
This makes me cry every time I see it or hear the song. It makes me think about how good some dogs have it and how others are treated like shit and not even close to how they should be treated. I've been looking into adopting from the SPCA and I can't wait to take home a dog and treat them the way they should be treated and loved and cherished.
Read what Purina is doing. It's accepting photographs/videos from submissions. If no one submits pictures of pit bulls, then there will be no pit bulls. The AKC alone registers about 175 breeds, most of which are not represented in that commercial. My breed is not represented. So what. What is important about that commercial is the respect for dogs that it conveys.
This commercial is making me bawl like a baby, dammit! When I see the elderly lady stroking the dog, it reminds me so much of my mother. She has Alzheimer's and is in a home. I sometimes take my dogs to see her and she and the other residents just love them. Sniff... :'(
I LOVE this commercial, I have 5 dogs and 2 cats, and YES they are ALL speacial and GREAT!!! PPL should love there animals because they will love you unconditionaly and ask for nothing more in return than your love and time.... and food :)

There's no Pitt bulls in this . Why not they are great loyal dogs. But yet so many people don't see that. All they see is a fighting dog. But it's really the people who make them like this not fair.
May 1st will be a year when my loving cocker spaniel passed..I think of him a lot; something that an over the hill old man would cry to something like this beautiful video... God Bless Purina!

I cried. Yup cuddled with my pups now. This could be a whole song and used for aspca or shelters not just dog food. Put some pits and other breeds it would be perfect.

The first dog looks like a mix, possibly with some Plott Hound in it. Maybe even a Plott Hound x Lab mix. The dog at 0:23 looked like a black Scottish Terrier.
