Dying Light brought to us that Zombie killing can be done with parkour, style and ingenuity, having Dying Light 2 now with more stunning visuals and and multiple endings makes it more of a great game to play!
I also love that there's so many approaches to encounters other than bashing or shooting things in DL2. I can finally go full ninja and just assassinate with parkour and knives. Or just dropkick everything with the now multiple ways to dropkick.
Fighting humans in DL1 was awful unless you had a gun or bow. But in DL2, it's great that you can work with the environment and resources so much to keep thinking on your feet.

I love how the trailer of dying light ( run boy run trailer) explains how brecken got injured during a D.r.o.p run

I know you haven't done DLC, but The Following DLC is fantastic! It even has a great story and compelling ending!

The DLC is great but sadly I Think the Story is ok like the main game maybe even a bit worse then the main game just what I think the best the best part I thought of in the DLC was the Zombie cult was realy something cool and new at that time
I played the entire game in co op with my younger brother after i got my own place and it was awesome. Getting to play with him despite not seeing each other every day anymore and all the parkour zombie killing together was special to me
I'm so disappointed you didn't enjoy this one. It's one of my all time favorites. If you ever get around to it tho, The Following is a FANTASTIC dlc, and provides a real ending to the game

Alot of people are complaining about it but I have been enjoying it so much. I play about 5 hrs a day and it's just so much fun looting on night adventures
I don’t know about that, night time was so scary in the first game but there’s so few zombies out at night in the second game
@@moneygrabber6720 that’s one of my main complaints with the game,the night time is very lack lustre and the only thing that you have to be worried about is the timer going down because chases are jokes and there’s barely any zombies on the rooftops

I'll keep this short: Dying Light is not perfect, but it entertained my monkey brain. The sometimes horrific glitches were, for once, a welcome addition as I played. My friends and I laughed like idiots whenever a zombie we killed would scoot across the floor, glitch into a wall, or sometimes just phase through walls or doors. It was a fun but flawed experience I consider myself lucky to have stumbled upon.
I was filled with glee hearing Roger Craig Smith's voice as Crane, good to see him voicing the main character in another zombie game. He's the reason why Chris Redfield is my favorite RE character

The way you win games is so impartial I was surprised when you said you really didn't like the games story. I'd love to see a gaming wins game where we have to guess if you did or didn't enjoy a game based on the wins you have given 😂
I got dying light a few years ago only to let it catch dust in my library because i got frustrated with it, I never gave myself a chance to get good with the parkour so it was easy to get pissed and give up, however, when dying light 2 came out I thought “Hell, why not give the first another shot? The sequel looks fun, why not.”
It’s now one of my favorite games i’ve ever played, it’s not without its flaws that’s for certain, I’ve always hated how every mission is just “Go here, get this, bring it back. Nothing will go wrong.” only for everything to go wrong and even still i’ve been having a blast with it. It really is a beautiful game.
While i’m here I may as well say I love what you’re doing with this channel, all too often do we see people picking games apart and shining a light on their flaws without ever looking at what it has going good for it, without ever taking a moment to appreciate the blood sweat and tears that went into amazing games like this one. Making a game isn’t easy. Making a good game has to be hard as hell, but the hardest aspect has to be watching as the world talks shit about your game that you poured your soul into. I like how you try to get into the heads of the creators of games in order to better appreciate them. I can’t put into words how much I love what you’re doing with this outlet. I’ve been watching your videos a good bit for the past few days and they’ve brought me joy and hope in a time where those things are scarce, I don’t mean to sound too sappy but I’m just speaking my truth.

Honestly, my only two gripes about this game are...
1. Crane is an idiot a lot of the time and we have no control in stopping his own dumbassery until The Following
2. In the daytime, omniscient Virals will show up every 5 minutes to hunt you down, knowing exactly where you are, even if you're trying to be subtle. Only camouflage gets them to go from a regular hazard to a huge annoyance. And even then, while you have camo on, they STILL make their way to your face, stopping short of smacking you to just stare at you until your camo wears off
Otherwise, apart from those, Dying Light is an incredibly fun game. Dying Light 2, though, I'd have to say that aside from the ass keybinds you're forced to work with on PC, I'm enjoying a hell of a lot more. You can tell how much got refined. And it has an actual working stealth system! I love me some stealth. So, I'd say Techland went from making an amazing game to a nigh-perfect one.
I have over 500 hours In dying light one and have already got 50 in dying light 2 and I adore both

5:22 actually they didn’t make most of the parkour stuff but i think what they did is cooler they developed a soft to pre place ledges and any other parkour item
Dying Light's best when you've got a night time airdrop and are running full tilt away from three volatiles. As the game progresses, the volatiles stop being scary, the airdrops cease, and you turn into Spiderman when you get the grapple.
An excellent example of how games have to be "given wins" differently than books, Tv, or movies as while the story of those is what draws us to them, with games it is the gameplay that is the make-or-break part and a great primary gameplay loop can hold up a mediocre story. But it's a bit more difficult to explain a win of gameplay because it always comes down to "look at how it feels!" rather than the more concise critiques that a story can be given.
I’m super excited for the DL2 video, both of the Dying Light games are absolutely amazing.

@@ArthurCallahanSolos it started off amazing then absolutely descended into a buggy mess by the time I reached the city. It’s almost unplayable now, I had to delete it and wait for patch notes.

This is one of those games where the gameplay is better than the actual story and it completely works! Loved this game and I'm definitely in love with the sequel been playing it whenever I have the time to.

The DLC needs an episode. It advances the story which imo is much improved and the gameplay is expanded. Also DL’s awesomeness comes more from side missions which allow for more gameplay which give it character.
Don't forget the little detail when crane is getting chased by the volitiles at night his breathing increases
Definitely recommend winning The Following before you play the second game (If you plan to), as it definitely has its moments, and is definitely worth the play

Dying Light is one of my favorite games of all time, but I understand that it's not for everyone. I'm glad you managed to look past your own disinterest and find some good things to talk about. Thank you for winning this game. The nostalgia trip from seeing the different parts of the story again one right after another was great to experience, and hearing someone with a thoroughly different viewpoint talk about stuff that they liked or appreciated about the game regardless of their opinion on the whole package was really neat to listen to.

You could do one for The Witcher 3. Other than the main story, you could include the romance quests and side quests who have main characters involved. That would be cool.

The key to fun in this game is co-op; without it it can be fun but limited in its experience.

The one thing I remember was I got the game when I was 13 and I had to stop playing at the first night mission because I was too scared. I eventually beat it but I found it to be fun :)

I pretty much agree with you on most points, your verdict is a bit meh to me but yeah, I get it. Dying Light has amazing level design and fun as fuck gameplay, the voice acting is also amazing Imo, the only thing really lacking was the plot, it's just a very cut and dry story and I'm fine with that but to each their own.
Also honestly, even the side quests are more engaging and fun than the main story, like the various Tolga and Fatin missions or Gazi.
I can imagine almost everyone's reactions when Jade and Rahim died and it probably goes like "Oh, they're dead, okay."
They didn't give a lot of time for the main characters to grow on screen or in side quests, so it kinda feels like they're just NPCs

Its funny hearing that you didn't enjoy the game at all as when it came out I adored it. Totally agree on the story being bland and underwhelming but the gameplay loop of exploring for loot and cache drops and powerful weapons encapsulated me. Still one of the only games I know where npcs out their hands up if you have a gun but also react dynamically, meaning if you take too long or fire with an empty clip they attack
I think for me Dying Light is about playing in co op with friends having a blast. The story is there and Crane is a badass, i mean he does share a VA with Ezio! But it for sure is not the best part. I have played this game on every difficulty and i can say that playing alone kind of sucks here and there. That's why i mention Co Op. It feels so good to run with your friends doing parkour, exploring quarantine zones, unlocking safe houses, and cheesing the fuck out of volatiles. the dlc also adds to it a bit and its fun to drive over zombies.
For your next game I think it would be a little different to do Subnautica, a game with a story, but no dialogue

To answer your question at the end, I'm right there with you. I played this game for the first time a month or so ago, with some friends, and the story was sooooo weak, and I truly understand that isn't the point of the game, but still. The gameplay was solid fun up to a certain point but very quickly got stale by the end. I didn't even have all of my abilities before I was already wanting it to be over, but still had the obligation to finish because my friends wanted a fourth person. In retrospect, I disliked Dying Light more than I enjoyed it in the grand scheme of things, and it sucks because it makes it hard for me to even think about picking up the second one. I know it's very well loved by a lot of people, but I personally just don't get it.
I really enjoyed the gameplay of Dying Light. They made it just the right level of terrifying, tricky, and unique. The gameplay (crafting and skill tree especially) were great. Unfortunately 2 isn't living up to that for me so far.
My suggestion for the next video would have to be Spec Ops: The Line.
Still the second best open world zombie franchise.
This game isn't a patch on Days Gone.
The one good thing is the Volitiles and other special zombies.
That and the drop kicks!
But Days Gone had a much better story and with the hordes that you could randomly come across providing a challenge.
Especially how they make you deal with some of them

ive been planning on playing dying light 2 cuz of all the hype and it looks hella fun, but i was curious about dying light 1 and your video gives me a good enough idea about it in a great way! Also, if possible, could you do a video on borderlands 3? Its one of my hands down favorite and would love to see what you like about it as well as lots of small things you notice that I never seem to catch
Fun fact about the day night cycle: it's about an hour of day time and 8 minutes of night time. When asked why they didn't make the night longer, they mentioned that during tests they saw some grown men crying at night, and decided 8 was enough.
Then they added hard mode, which increased the damage you took, decreased the damage you dealt, and changed medkits from instant heals to regeneration, as well as removing loot from survivor sense, and having your flashlight run out and need to recharge over time.
Then nightmare mode. Nightmare mode is hard mode on steriods, and sets the night time to 16 minutes, double what was enough to scare grown men. As well as this, volatiles in particular are extremely deadly, and getting pounced with 100 or less health is basically death, and is guaranteed if you get grabbed by the evolved variant. Nightmare is a fitting name for such things.
Also, for me, the best part was the intense chases you could get into. And the final chase through the sewers was amazing. And it got it's own track seperate to the standard night chases throughout the game. Infact, in the old trailers, there was one moment involving a night chase similar to the first one, and during that trailer, the theme played in the finale chase was used.
I know it’s a lot of work. But GamingWins, can you please, please do a vid on Assassin’s Creed Odyssey? Personally my favorite of the series, gameplay wise, because I’m just a nerd for Greek mythology/history, but I digress.
i have almost 500h on dying light and let me tell you, the main story is... well it's not great, but at least the following is decent, and the gameplay is *mwah* chef's kiss
