Splinter cell conviction is the only splinter cell game I've played, but it is one of my favorite stealth games. An absolute banger. As for stealth games to try, since you didn't mention them in the video I will bring them up here, the tenchu series and the aragami games.
The problem is the players. They lack the patience to wait, stalk the guards and plan their strategy. All they want is 1st person shitter games. Fast and furious, a walking gun that shoots at everything that moves, The slower you play, the more things you observe and get to appreciate the ideas and the work that has gone into them. In Thief The Metal Age, they traveled to Europe and got thousands of picture from old style interior architecture and design. And it shines iThe Bank mission. Yesterday, i was playing Star Wars Outlaws for the first time. While crawling inside some vents, i did notice spider webs on the corners, which my character removed while passing by. In Jagged Alliance 2, there is so much detail in everything, you want to try something and it works. They have thought of everything, i was pleasantly surprised.
Modern Games: You can go through vents, going in guns blazing, or just be a nice person to complete your objective. Classical Thief: What are my options? Don't know, the map dosen't say much. likely to be heavily guarded. Gotta figue it out.

You really hit me where it hurts. I've been a huge stealth fan for over 20 years, and I completely agree with everything you said in your video. From recent games, I'd highly recommend giving Aragami and Aragami 2 a try. They're solid examples of the stealth genre. Sadly, the studio had to shut down due to low sales of Aragami 2. =(
People dont have the patience to play a stealth game, this coming from a player who will watch gaurds patrol routes for hours in game before i make my plan.
Splinter Cell Conviction and Blacklists co op modes were absolutely awesome. A co op centered stealth game leaning so far into the co op aspect like army of two would be just awesome, each player either having to work together to hit one objective or having to split up to take on two at once(Like reaching two terminals across the level from each other), or an AI hunter that behaves like the mercs in spies vs mercs that one player has to gain the attention of and the other has to do a silent takedown from behind. There's so much they could add to the splinter cell formula if they leaned into the co op aspect. Even to the point where they flesh out spies vs mercs into something more streamlined.
deus ex series played in full stealth is a good option there are so many ways to complete the levels like mgs and hitman also deus ex needs a third game adams story is unfinished and we need to see adam destroying the ilimunati and majestic 12 being born
👏👏👏… I really don’t have anything to add. I love stealth games so I appreciate any element I can get in all the games you mentioned, Spider-Man included. In any of those games I play stealthily deliberately.😂 MMO, multi transactions, 💵etc. Game execs were sure the idea of single player games were dead. They’re not. I hope a semi open world Splinter Cell game is being cooked🤞🏾
How about a stealth game where you only have a sawed off double barrel. Just kidding, but I'm subbing man. I think you have started a good thing here. Keep calling the industry out. Its a crime against humanity that in no stealth game discussions do i see commandos behind enemy lines quoted often enough. That one and commandos 2 were fucking masterpieces. God how i miss good stealth games. If there is a genre im a stan of, its that one
I really recommend anyone who likes stealth games to try out these games , Shadow tactics : blade of the shogun , Desperados series , while not your traditional stealth games , the stealth in them feels good and satisfying to pull off.
I really recommend everyone a game called Intruder, it's on Steam, it's an online indie fps but with a high focus on stealth, the developers call it a "stealth multiplayer experience". Only problem is that there's not a lot of players. I really like this game, give it a try
A couple underrated gems worth mentioning even if they're not pure stealth games is Watchdogs and the James Bond games. Both have stealth elements while introducing their own flair to them.
4:30 Damn that rhyme was smooth. Stealth multiplayer wise what I would love to see is a standalone Spies vs Mercs like it was in Chaos Theory. Single player wise I always had this thought of a stealth game where one travels through time and stealthily influences historical events. Styx is a dilogy of games that should be a must play for stealth fans.
Stealth is my absolute favourite video game genre With horror and objective extraction shooters. With that being said I would have to recommend Mark of the Ninja Arigami 1 and or 2 But damn do I love Sam fisher, Desmond and solid snake. Love the content Edit: I forgot an honourable and influential mention Dishonored series
they should make a stealth game kind of like r6, expect bigger maps, realistic things, and more modes, and a completely different game then r6, but similar in someways. idk how to explain it
You can play Styx Master of Shadows and Styx Shards of Darkness. 2 True Stealth Games that are short but rich in itself. I Strongly suggest trying them you wont regret picking the Goblin game :)
Although mainstream stealth seems to be dead and buried, we still have some nice fan releases (mainly centered around Thief), such as the amazing Black Parade and the solid engine for fan missions that is the Dark Mod. (I can wholeheartedly recommend Iris mission from the latter). I'd also argue that the Dark Mod seems to be the peak of hardcore stealth genre.
I just did a play through of Metro 2033 and last light and those games have great stealth mechanics. Not necessarily stealth games at their core but you can definitely play it that way if you want. I tend to like more straightforward fps games but other games like the Deus Ex and dishonored series are very engaging to play stealthily. No kill runs for those games can be tedious but very rewarding.
Wildlands and Breakpoint have great stealth imo. Also, there are a bunch of good indie titles that are dedicated stealth games. Intravenous 1 & 2, Filcher are some of my recent favorites Lastly, the "new" Splinter Cell is supposed to be a remake of SC1, not a remaster.
You threw in a stealth battle royals idea in and a small clip from transformers. I’ve always had an idea of a Transformers battle royal where you can sneak up on other players disguised as a random vehicle
A lot of smaller devs make for some really fun stealth sandbox games: I think it’s Focus that made sniper ghost warrior contracts 1 & 2. These games are sick and sadly very easy to write off. But the player a central objective and a bunch of tools on how to go about ot
Ghost of tsuhima. Yes, you can go loud, but it doesnt feel like stealth is an oversight. Its a distinct option you make each time if you go stealth or not and can change your loadout accordingly.
I would pay so much money for a new PS5 stealth game, they should 100% remaster Splinter Cell and the Old Mission Impossible game back into something slightly new but rememberable. I do love the new Hitman games but I think it's not stealthy enough, like I want to be climbing through vents, scaling buildings or ab-sailing down them and hiding from cameras by going into the shadows.
When you talk about Thief 4, it sounds like you haven't played the series, so yeah, that's my recommendation (not ACTUAL Thief 4 though lol, I just like his suit). If the graphics of the old games are... well, too old, start at 3 (Deadly Shadows), like I did. Grab the fan patches, etc and have fun. For me, only Hitman and Chaos Theory get close. These are games you can fully ghost btw, not even knockouts required if you're careful.
Want stealth games recommendations? Play Shadow Tactics: Blades of Shogun and Desperados. I played Shadow Tactics and it's awesome. It's a top down third person game where you control up to 5 unique characters each with their own abilities and playstyles, BUT they all HAVE TO play stealth. 4/5 of these characters have minimal health points and will die in 2-4 hits, so if you alert two enemies at once you're basically dead. The game plays with sightlines, luring enemies and setting up ambushes where you can take down multiple enemies at once perfectly unnoticed. I hope you like them :)
I think a part of me died when his 3 big names of stealth included Hitman instead of Thief, and I'm not talking about Thief 4. Styx is a good one that wasn't shown here. Payday 2 is very good and not shown, but you'll need to learn how to play it (crouch-sprinting, hiding your head, tossing bags, etc.)
Hitman is still pretty solid (even though it lacks of an ambiance like the old trilogy and a proper soundtrack by Jesper Kyd). I hope Konami won't mess up MGS Delta, but yeah... we need a true Splinter Cell back
You should check out Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 1&2. They are lots of fun and have elements that are similar to Splinter Cell, Hitman, Metal Gear, and Deus Ex. Each mission takes place in a large open area and you can approach objectives in whatever order you want and select your gear loadout. You use stealth tactics both for sniping from afar and sneaking around enemy bases.
Dude, a stealth BR sounds great. I remember having watched Hunger Games more than one year after its release and imagining how a video game adaptation could work. Just imagine the posibilites depending on the setting. It could be about survivors, kind of like TLOU factions but with more varierty. Or spies vs spies, with all the verticality of the Splinter Cell games. Human shields, silent takedowns, traps, counter traps, gadgets, some action elements but heavily discouraged due to limited ammo or hard weapon handling. The options are limitless.
Well... As you said: if they released another splinter cell, it would probably be so terrible that people would barely want to finish it... Stuffed with skins & weapons for microtransactions :-(
I don't even think Splinter Cell needs anything big like a big new mode or something, I just really think take Chaos Theory's design philosophy and approach, spin up a new title with next gen visuals, animation, graphics and boom it would be absolutely smashing. dw I know your point wasn't "splinter cell needs something new, surely theres tons of new things for it to do", I only word my reply this way because it really is just insane how well Chaos Theoy holds up to this day. Give me that same experience with all the bells and whistles of recent releases and they'd have a banger on their hands.
I mean all we can do is wait for mgs delta and also see what mr kojima will cook with sony given he said he is working on a new tactical espionage game for ps5
I think not fully embracing stealth is what angers me the most about the direction AC went in they were slowly getting close to making a great assassin game but cause they botched unity they had to turn it into a low brow loot rpg
To be completely fair with ghost recon wildlands: I still remember when it came out and I went to play with my friend. We would approach things with stealth and keep to it as long as convenient. At the time we were thinking the hardest difficulty was too easy and we were not having issues. The other half of our r6 group had been also playing, and that half was what I considered the "better" half of the 5. So to my complete surprise they said they had to drop difficulty because the game was too hard for them. Why was that? Well, they had thrown stealth completely out the window.
Both was too easy. GR is theoretically great for the open approaches they allow, but it always felt like they're afraid of giving any actual difficulties. I bought both: Wildlands and Breakpoint on a massive discount and had my fair share of fun with them, but I still do remember playing the Wildlands Beta with some random guys that were searching for another player who wanted to play it tactically, the stalth failed, 3 went down and the AI acted (and to this day still acts) so slow and uncoordinated that unless you're standing in the middle of the street there's absolutely 0 issue in surviving an onslaught - needless to say none of those 3 wanted to buy the game after witnessing how the AI fails on so many levels, especially on the loud site and after we tried both stealth and loud for 2-3 more hours always finding the same result: Cheap AI made to appease as many people as possible, but none that are actually good on loud & tactical approaches as well as stealth approaches (also rather easy to cheese in a lot of cases).
I'm working on one. But the enemy AI is the hardest thing to get right. Without good enemy AI the gameplay is boring as hell. It's not like a boomer shooter where you can give the AI 3 objectives (run to player, stand still, shoot at player). So it's going to take a while to complete.
In Assassin's Creed games and Ghost Recon games you're able to stealth kill the vast majority of enemies in those games. So they are STEALTH action games. Hitman and Splinter Cell gives the option to go loud too. Does that mean that they aren't real stealth games? There's also, the Sniper Ghost Warrior games and the Last Of Us games. There's really no shortage of Stealth games. There's a shortage of high quality fps that have campaign modes. A lot of them are multiplayer only. Rainbow 6 Vegas 2, F.E.A.R and Black, still stand as being the best fps games. There should be more games like those.
Right after watching your vid another appeared speaking of a 2010's game called Styx. Maybe you should take a look at it. Also looking a indie games could a solution for you to get your dose of stealth
I fell in love not only with blacklist but with conviction too. They were games that changed my childhood and I've played them A LOT on my xbox 360 back in the day, got like several hundred hours in each of them and I just still love them even tho I rarely play them anymore I still come back once in a while and revisit them but I wish they would make another splinter cell game, like a really good one. I didn't get to play COOP on blacklist but that would be super nice to have if they decide to make a new one. Try Intravenous 1 and 2. Its a combination between splinter cell and hotline miami. I only played the first game but I loved the tactical aspect of the gameplay and the smart AI. I don't think stealth as a videogame genre will make a significant comeback anytime soon, so indie games are the way to go
Yes, id love to see a rebirth of more stealthy military shooters, kinda like ghost recon but a tab more realistic and 1st POV. Imagine this for a game, SAS-Sabre squad, you’d play as one of a six man squad conducting covert reconnaissance, search and destroy and hostage rescue missions. I said SAS cause I’ve never played a game that truly depicts the SAS in any real manner. To give an example of a mission idea one could see you and your squad do a HAHO jump into enemy territory than have to hike to a target, let’s say an enemy compound, conduct reconnaissance of said camp with the potential HVT, than assault said target, kill or capture without alerting the compound and than sneak back out of the AO avoiding contact being as realistic as possible, I wanna almost be pulling my hair out with this game but also married for 50 years.

Sure, sometimes we'll get a Sniper Elite, Hitman, or Death Stranding from the AAA sector, but those are rarities to be cherished.
@@bushcrap2019 I loved the Thief trilogy, that was so much fun to play. Especially Thief Gold. The second mission was pure stealth gameplay. Certainly a new way of playing for me.
@@bushcrap2019 Yeah, those older games didn't hold your hand, they'd let you use your gray matter instead.
@@kiryukazuma7960 Aye, Thief series, the grandfather of the stealth genre and the FIRST games to use light, shadows and sound, as game mechanics. It made a whole world of difference.
@@kiryukazuma7960 Praise the builder for Hammerite justice!
If you want a hidden gem. Sniper ghost warrior 3. It also runs great on the steam deck on low settings.
Thanks for the suggestion mate, I’ll look that up for sure👌🏻
I was going to add that! Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 can be played pure stealth; yes a gem.
SGW Contracts 1 and 2 are also solid. And they're more level based, as opposed to a huge open world.
@@cristianlopez_8486 Agreed. I hope there'll be more in the series, but it's looking like there wont' be.
Imma be honest, in stealth drought maybe it's alright, but this gem better stay hidden
If the Splinter Cell series ever gets a remake ,i would definitely suggest that this time there should be no more day missions
Double agent did it really well with using the mechanics on the boat to stay hidden
You guys do know about the remake they are working on right?
Gloomwood is an indie stealth game. Last I checked it was still in early access
People dont have the patience to play a stealth game, this coming from a player who will watch gaurds patrol routes for hours in game before i make my plan.
this is the way
also, have u played grayzone warfare?
Splinter Cell Conviction and Blacklists co op modes were absolutely awesome. A co op centered stealth game leaning so far into the co op aspect like army of two would be just awesome, each player either having to work together to hit one objective or having to split up to take on two at once(Like reaching two terminals across the level from each other), or an AI hunter that behaves like the mercs in spies vs mercs that one player has to gain the attention of and the other has to do a silent takedown from behind. There's so much they could add to the splinter cell formula if they leaned into the co op aspect. Even to the point where they flesh out spies vs mercs into something more streamlined.
splinter cell with ray tracing is begging to happen. a game franchise built on light and dark and brand new tech built on light and dark.
deus ex series played in full stealth is a good option there are so many ways to complete the levels like mgs and hitman also deus ex needs a third game adams story is unfinished and we need to see adam destroying the ilimunati and majestic 12 being born
If you haven’t tried them yet I recommend Intravenous 1-2, they are inspired by Splinter Cell and a few other stealth games.
Hadn’t heard of these, I’ll check them out thank you!
Gaming is supposed to be fun and have freedom, it's so corporatised now that it no longer feels good to game. Good luck to you bro
Hitman is really only a stealth game if you go for silent assassin suit only.
The game actively tries to get you to not go guns blazing, although there are many unsuppressed weapons...
@@thyholybibble7136I mean, unsilenced weapons have uses, they're just relatively niche. They can panic people into not paying attention to trespassing, and alert guards somewhere to distract them.
Sniper Elite and Sniper Warrior havve a great focus on stealth
Its a crime against humanity that in no stealth game discussions do i see commandos behind enemy lines quoted often enough. That one and commandos 2 were fucking masterpieces.
God how i miss good stealth games. If there is a genre im a stan of, its that one
u have earned a sub good video keep it up
I really recommend anyone who likes stealth games to try out these games , Shadow tactics : blade of the shogun , Desperados series , while not your traditional stealth games , the stealth in them feels good and satisfying to pull off.
I really recommend everyone a game called Intruder, it's on Steam, it's an online indie fps but with a high focus on stealth, the developers call it a "stealth multiplayer experience". Only problem is that there's not a lot of players.
I really like this game, give it a try
4:00 and we got announcement for GTA 6 before a new splinter cell
A couple underrated gems worth mentioning even if they're not pure stealth games is Watchdogs and the James Bond games. Both have stealth elements while introducing their own flair to them.
4:30 Damn that rhyme was smooth.
Stealth multiplayer wise what I would love to see is a standalone Spies vs Mercs like it was in Chaos Theory.
Single player wise I always had this thought of a stealth game where one travels through time and stealthily influences historical events.
Styx is a dilogy of games that should be a must play for stealth fans.
Great topic. It seems like it’s stealth month. Coming across this topic a lot this past month on UA-cam, with friends and on steam.
Underrated video
Stealth is my absolute favourite video game genre
With horror and objective extraction shooters. With that being said I would have to recommend Mark of the Ninja
Arigami 1 and or 2
But damn do I love Sam fisher, Desmond and solid snake.
Love the content
Edit:
I forgot an honourable and influential mention
Dishonored series
Also I forgot to mention one of the most influential games Dishonored.
they should make a stealth game kind of like r6, expect bigger maps, realistic things, and more modes, and a completely different game then r6, but similar in someways. idk how to explain it
Died along with the 2000's style and tone of gameplay. Unironically, the only games that resemble that era I can think of are JSR Remake and Sonic
This is so well done
I just did a play through of Metro 2033 and last light and those games have great stealth mechanics. Not necessarily stealth games at their core but you can definitely play it that way if you want. I tend to like more straightforward fps games but other games like the Deus Ex and dishonored series are very engaging to play stealthily. No kill runs for those games can be tedious but very rewarding.
Wildlands and Breakpoint have great stealth imo.
Also, there are a bunch of good indie titles that are dedicated stealth games. Intravenous 1 & 2, Filcher are some of my recent favorites
Lastly, the "new" Splinter Cell is supposed to be a remake of SC1, not a remaster.
You threw in a stealth battle royals idea in and a small clip from transformers. I’ve always had an idea of a Transformers battle royal where you can sneak up on other players disguised as a random vehicle
Im just surprised there hasnt been any indie games that have tried to do a 3rd person camera game. Closest is Intravenous 2.
The new spider-man games has some nice and satisfying stealth gameplay
A lot of smaller devs make for some really fun stealth sandbox games:
I think it’s Focus that made sniper ghost warrior contracts 1 & 2. These games are sick and sadly very easy to write off. But the player a central objective and a bunch of tools on how to go about ot
Great video! But why only 119 subscribers (me being the 120th)? 🤠
I hope you like them :)
dishonored is pretty good if your looking for a stealth game
Yeah
I'd love a remaster for Shinobido: Way of the Ninja or another entry in the Tenchu series.
There is also Ghost of a Tale. It is a really nice game, I believe, it was funded through kickstarter.
Sniper ghost warrior games especially contracts 2 are really good stealth games
Well... As you said: if they released another splinter cell, it would probably be so terrible that people would barely want to finish it... Stuffed with skins & weapons for microtransactions :-(
@@MarvinHartmann-f5l Desperate for a new entry but I fear this will be the outcome
Dude I literally remember playing ac1 to ac syndicate and each one has missions that you fail when you're exposed
Deus ex Human revolution and Mankind divided had me hooked. Stealth in those games was pretty damn good.
I think not fully embracing stealth is what angers me the most about the direction AC went in they were slowly getting close to making a great assassin game but cause they botched unity they had to turn it into a low brow loot rpg
Sniper Ghost Warror is damn underrated tbh
In this era of tiktok brain, constant needs of dopamine hit, no one has the patience to play a stealth game
To be completely fair with ghost recon wildlands:
I still remember when it came out and I went to play with my friend.
I suggest you " death to spies" 1 and 2 . They are WW2 themed stealth-action russian games They are awesome .
Right after watching your vid another appeared speaking of a 2010's game called Styx. Maybe you should take a look at it. Also looking a indie games could a solution for you to get your dose of stealth
I fw blacklist its the easiest one to get into and for an older lad that still wants to experience these types of games I think it’s a gem
Desperados 3, Shadow Tactics adn Shadow Gambit - IF and only IF you are into Commandos games.
Two stealth games that 'feel' like splinter cell I have in my collection are Styx 2 and winter ember
4:32 The rhymes 👌👌👌
Have you tried Styx series?
I fell in love not only with blacklist but with conviction too. They were games that changed my childhood and I've played them A LOT on my xbox 360 back in the day, got like several hundred hours in each of them and I just still love them even tho I rarely play them anymore I still come back once in a while and revisit them but I wish they would make another splinter cell game, like a really good one. I didn't get to play COOP on blacklist but that would be super nice to have if they decide to make a new one.
I feel like the Splinter Cell franchise was and still is super slept on, and even underrated. People just don't appreciate true stealth games. I feel old bro everybody's playing warzone and all that crap yo listen up YOU, YES YOU who reads this comment right now, go and play old games bro, go play COD 4 and Splinter Cell and Far Cry and whatever and stop playing that shitty ass piece of garbage that warzone and fortnite and every other battle royale game there is and start enjoying life because it's fucking short
Also I suggest you try Dishonored if you haven't already (all 3 games in the franchise are super well made) and I can only say good things about them, you can take stealth to a whole new level
Try Intravenous 1 and 2. Its a combination between splinter cell and hotline miami. I only played the first game but I loved the tactical aspect of the gameplay and the smart AI.
I don't think stealth as a videogame genre will make a significant comeback anytime soon, so indie games are the way to go
I miss old Splinter Cell.
A splknter cell remake is in the works
I play far cry games stealthy, allmost always
Me too brother, I liberate every outpost stealthily
Deus Ex Human Revolution is probably my first favorite stealth game
Gone, reduced to "gameplay mechanic".

Let's not get crazy now.
I had a rush of nostalgia playing Styx: Shards of Darkness
