    9:30 I was always under the impression that the only reason that V and Silverhand started to merge was because V was shot in the head since there don't seem to be any side effects before this happens. Also I thought Jackie gave V the chip because he was dyeing and since Silverhand never mentions being inside Jack I don't think he and Jack started to merge.

      @aaronself2411 2 роки тому +16

      Yeah, it only ever kicked on because V did actually die. The entire time you play you're actually just a zombie, and the only reason your body is functioning is because the construct basically repaired enough of V's brain to restart brain function, but even then it's more of a ghost of V than actual V.

    • @DrakeAurum
      @DrakeAurum 2 роки тому +5

      Yeah, but that doesn't lessen the irony that if Jackie'd just left the chip plugged in he may well have survived. The only comfort is that he does remove it himself and hand it over - think how much worse V would have felt in retrospect if she'd pulled it from his corpse after he died.

    • @itsdantaylor
      @itsdantaylor 2 роки тому +4

      I think that MAY have started the 'issue' as it seems the chip's main goal was to basically integrate with the user's cyberware and basically use some form of nanotech to create new neural and cyber pathways. I'm guessing the bullet and the subsequent damage jumpstarted the chip's main function. Considering those 'pathways' are what make a person....THEM..it actually puts the 'merger' in new terrifying light. You don't just....die. According to the science you would basically be absorbed by the other person, your thoughts become their thoughts your 'will' their will, etc.

    One thing I wish you'd mentioned is the voice acting. The voice acting for all of the characters is nothing short of stellar. You touched on it with Johnny/Keanu but I feel like 2077 wouldn't feel half as grounded, realistic and immersive if not for the VA's giving it their all. I hated how dismissive Placide was. I loved Jackie - he sounded like an old friend who I was getting to know. Panam sounded stubborn, headstrong and best of all - authentic. Takemura was the old soul who'd seen it all and was trying to remain honorable in an honorless world.
    And then there's V - specifically female V (Cherami Leigh) although male V (Gavin Drea) is no slouch either. FemV sold the emotional impact of everything she was going through - anger, despair, joy, you name it. I could really feel like I was watching someone's life get turned on when and listen to her try and make sense of the pieces. I was bought in all the way every time V spoke.

    Valerie, to me, sounds hurt in her delivery, as if pointing to some past trauma which she represses by using V as a nickname. Also makes me think she cant truly trust anyone to that level during the events of the game since she doesnt let anyone, including romantic partners, use the real name.
    Vincent's delivery sounds more stern and professional, maybe not like hes hiding it neccesarily but maybe as a formality? Could also be a trust thing, simular to Valerie.
    Both, either way, really sends home your point on V being their own person as opposed to being your own character like the Dragonborn.

At Jackie’s funeral, I stand in front of the ofrenda like the other speaking, bobbing the FPS camera up and down while V talks like I’m some goddamn machinima puppet. That's one big error about the chip keeping Jackie alive. The chip only activates on death, not before, this was made pretty clear in the game. The fact is that if Jackie kept the chip in him while dying, he would have been brought back instead of V, and he would have been the only having to deal with Johnny.

But in my first playthrough I really liked Takamura so I said 'fuck that' and saw a staircase to the left. The moment you get up to the next floor the mission details add the option to save takamura. I really love how it wasn't obvious and the player needed to make that choice and not just go with the flow like most games. There two ways you play Cyberpunk 2077.
    The first is what happen to me (and i believe around 90% of the player base). The ones who knew nothing about the lore of the game and how deep the world of 2077 is. Its an alt-history universe where the world took technology to new limits and politics took a nosedive straight into concrete.
    The second is when you have played and learned about the world of 2013, 2020 and RED. The United States of America is dead, replaced by the NUSA. In 1993, New York got nuked by Narco-Terrorist during the First Central American war, killing millions, In 1996, the US suffered a massive economical crisis that lead to so much problem and anarchy in the world that you,d believe it was the end of the world. 1 in 4 American was homeless, crime skyrocket to the moon and Corporation took over everything. Common Street Gang got wiped and replaced with Street Gang with artificial limbs and modifications, creating Boostergangs. Plagues, Meltdowns, mass death, corruption, anarchy, chaos. The World of Cyberpunk is horrifying.
    Hell, the Never Fade Away quest where Johnny recruit Rogue and Santiago at the Atlantis is part of the 2020 Corebook where you can play every character from that storyline in the TTRPG version. Soulkiller is even mentioned.
    And the rest of the world is even worst. In the UK, an anti-monarchist group within the government attacked and murdered member of the royal family to assure no possible future King or queen, until the new Queen of England is crown around 2020, where she was hiding with her sister in Texas, who ran away from these conspirator. The UK is such in a massive state of chaos and anarchy, you'd believe you're in 28 days later.
    Once you learn a bit more about the lore of the game and what happen, it help you immersing yourself even more in the game and the world. And you sort of realise that this society has been living with cybernetics and implants for almost a full century. Seeing someone with a robo-arms, fake eyes or sorts of augmentations may creep us out but for them, its as normal as carrying a small device that fit in our pocket that has the world's entire knowledge in it.

    Great video. I've played the game about 5 times now, to get all the endings and stuff and I deeply enjoyed it.
    But saying that CP2077 is a game without problems would be one hell of a stretch. Honestly, after digging a little more on the actual dev cycle of this thing, I'm surprised that the game was payable on day one. To keep in short, a lot of the team that made The Witcher 3 were so disgusted by how the studio made them crunch, that most of the OG CDPR devs just took the door. First ouch. Then, technically, CDPR didn' start the developpement of this game before 2016, when the last TW3 DLC got released. So that's 3.5/4 years of dev time, not 7. Second ouch. If that wasn't enough, executives kept adding more and more things to the game, but the dev team didn't really got bigger, to a point that CDPR promised a game that would be just as ground breaking as a GTA V or RDR2 would be, just with half the staff, and half the time, and a third of the budget that Rockstar had for both of these games. Third (and probably biggest) ouch. Last nail in the coffinm was to have a PR team that was not linked at all to the dev team, making trailers, demos (those were faked by the way, especially the 2018 one), announcements that were absolutely not in line with what the dev team was able to providem, basically setting up expectations for everyone to see. Fourth and final ouch. Add onto this the fact that the game got delayed several times, the fact that they had to work with their own, homemade clunky engine (which is nothing more than a modified version of the engine they used in TW3), multiple delays and death threats for all employees for each one, ultimately forcing them to cut content, features and release the game, well that's just a perfect recipe for a big fiasco.
    And despite all of that, I was able to play it day one, with minimal bugs, and finish the game while actually enjoying it and its story. The fact that the game was playable in late December 2020 is just a miracle.
    About the story, there is clear moments where you feel content has been cut : Judy is one of the main side characters in the game, and there was hints throuout the game to a potential ending with her, but it just didn't happen (I still think she's the 4th maion character besides V, Johnny and Panam). There was also Pacifica that felt extremely empty or the elevator scene after meeting Hanako that feels like you're just skipping a chapter. But all in all, the story and character were really, really good.

    For me Cyberpunks main thing was saying it through the theme of regret.
    People trying to have no regrets and usually missing the individual trees, for the forest.
    Always talking about dreams, ambitions, reputations, legends.
    Usually getting none of them, or getting some, but seeing that they fade anyway.
    And all the time, the best path, is just finding someone and escaping it all to be with them.
    Which is why I like all the 'romance' NPC's, cos they all let go in their own ways, to instead hold onto the important things.
    And all V's endings let go of something, and/or lose something, while trying to protect something.

    Surprised you didn't do all three life paths and all three endings.
    I found that the most heartfelt start and ending is Nomad / Nomad... and to Romance PanAm you need to be a male Nomad to begin with, and that romance scene is... oh my damn!

    I will say i have not watched any marketing pre playing the game, i knew next to nothing about it, when it came out i heard bad thing for sometime and then nothing, i waited for a year and then decided i want to play it. It wasn't the masterpiece people were expecting but i really did enjoy it, hell the song "Never fade away" was my most listened to song on Spotify in 2021. The ending i got ( Path of Glory ) felt really right for my V but at the same time sad, you could say bitter-sweet. What im getting at is the game is nothing over the moon, but it tells a good story that does stay with you in one way or another.

    There is so much to dissect in this game, I'm surprised this video was only 39mins.
    I adored CDPR as Withcher 3 is my favorite game of all, but I knew to temper my expectations. I played 2 hours on release and Uninstalled. I said I'll play it when it's ready.
    Jump to patch 1.5 and 112 hours later and this game is in my top 5 favorite games of all time. Not only is the game trying to say things, it also poses so many questions that I'm still thinking about. My favorite 3 themes are Love, Death and Power. The futuristic setting is only the setting to experience these themes from many angles. Also I found the flexibility in character builds is amazing. The voice acting yop notch (I actually love Keanu's performance too). This game definitely deserves criticism, but the development team deserves just as much of not more praise for how amazing this game could be. God I love this game!

    The only serious flaw i find with the game, is that it keeps beating you over the head with "you have very little time remaining!", but as soon as you roam the streets and just clean up the entire map, that urgency is pretty much forgotten until you do the next part of the main story...
    It's like the game keeps telling you that you have literal days left to live, but then lets you spend WEEKS in the open world without consequence.
    I really feel like the death clock part should have been implemented very late in the story, where it's not the chip itself that puts you on a timer, but the steps you need to take to remove it that causes it, so it makes more sense that you roam around the city for weeks without issue before that, with only the visions and the glitches driving you nuts until that point

    Got through this by the skin of my teeth on last gen, so glad I came back on the latest hardware.
    The gameplay’s solid, but the characters really give the game life and memorable moments.
    Takemura in particular fascinates me. Old world samurai skills and loyalty in a Terminator’s body sounds like a contradiction, but he proves it can work.
    I played from the corpo origin and took the nomad/Panam ending, and I wish I could’ve convinced him to go with me. I mean, I know why, but if my V could walk away from Arasaka, there may have been hope for him too.
    At the end of the day, I don’t think he’s a bad guy. That life is all he knows and he honestly believes he’s doing the right thing.

      But your vee didn't walk away from anything he just wanted to die with the nomads every ending is just choosing a slightly different way to die, it doesn't matter which ending you choose its literally all the same in the end your gonna die they state it multiple times. Honestly if this game was made by bioware people would do nothing but shit on the characters and ending but people judge stuff based on the previous work and people myself included loved the Witcher 3 so that's good enough to excuse all the horrible game designs and mechanics. I will say the the concept is great but it's clear they either scrapped all the good ideas and went with this or just were straight up lying during every trailer

      All it would've took to make the endings different was have a narration of what happened to some other people because of your decisions but from the start of the game to the end everything you do is basically inconsequential other then putting the chip in your head you can legit remove 90 percent of the story and it would change nothing about the actual narrative of what's being told

    I've +600 hours put into this game. Then, Elden Ring happened... Watching this video reminded me why I spent hundreds of hours immersed in Night City, sharing it with great characters; why I loved it so much. Now, I just want to go back. Thank you.

    Whilst I was aware of CP2077 from late 2018, I made sure to keep my expectations in check. I was a *massive* fan of CP2020 back in the day, so was simply looking forward to playing a video game set very firmly within the world created by Mike Pondsmith....and I think CDPR did an amazing job of realizing his vision. I won't deny that CDPR management made mistakes (I still think a simultaneous launch on all platforms was a mistake; and maybe so was even releasing it on base 2013 platforms at all....maybe should have limited it to only the 2016-2017 consoles), but the passion of the developers is clearly on display in every section of this game-the same degree of passion I saw in Witcher 2 & 3. Also, their commitment to improving and adding to the game-when too many other publishers would have already ditched it and moved on-is also to be commended. The fact that I already have more hours in this game than I even had in Witcher 3 tells me that I truly adore this game! Its probably also worth noting that, whilst the first CG Teaser Trailer was released way back in 2012, the true development of the game didn't kick off until *after* the launch of Witcher 3-around late 2015.

    That's something many people still don't understand about computer games. They are art, sometimes good sometimes bad. And good art like this one, makes you feel, comprehend and evolve.

    13:07 Same. It's also the same with say....Shepard or Ryder in Mass Effect. The character has a set of options regarding their past, personality, and how they interpret the situation. Some people may want it more open then that, and that is fine. BUT i do think with the way ME and CP2077 does it, you get a bit more of a focused/cinematic main character which plays a bit better with the story. Also every dialouge being voiced helps. It's one of the reasons that while some may not think fallout 4 is the best in the series, I tend to like playing that game more then 3 or NV because I feel more invested in the MC then in the others.
