Glad to see the use of a torque wrench and lock tight 👍 to those installing spacers, these steps are a must and don’t cheap out on the spacers!! The cost savings will be out the window when a wheel falls off!….
Update on my previous comment: I ordered a new pair (this one from the American Amazon location) and they fit excellent! Put them on this morning. Haven't been on the highway yet but driving around town seemed just fine. I ended up using medium lock tight though. Hope all is well Don! Keep going with this truck!
Great video. We have the 2020 AT4 2500HD with 20" rims. Seems to be a good amount of clearance since the stock suspension is taller on the 20 then previous years. Love the wheel dip as well. Did not want to replace perfect rims just to black them out - great look!
Revisiting this video as well as the hyper dip mod. Refreshed AT4 Arrives next week. GM only had two wheel options for the remainder of the year. Classic 18” like you have and one 20” I went stock 18. Keep at it. Been watching since you began.
I have stock 20" rims and the 1.5" spacers do cause the tire to rub the skirt at stock height. Looks like stock tire on 20's is approx. 1" taller than the 18's. Any spacer less than 1.5" will require the stock studs to be cut. Darn.
Looks great! I have a 2020 AT4 CarbonPro and I have done similar mods. I did change the side steps to the AMP Research and the truck looks cleaner and taller. Also I recommend painting the calipers. Yours is the best white truck I've seen.
Don, those spacers look great and are exactly what I want for my 2021 Sierra Elevation. I will definitely be ordering the same ones. Thanks for the idea and tutorial. Cheers from London, Ontario brother!
Red lock tite is what they consider a more permanent thread locker. Sometime you need a torch to cook it to remove it later. Let us know how the first rotor change goes with that sealant.
Just got a new at4 last week going through my gm parts bin and found a set of 1.25 boras I had for a different truck I think they are going on I'm really liking the look of yours
Not entirely accurate. The quantity of red Loctite plays a part. I have tested this to be true. I can send you a video of the removal without a torch if you like? I am not trying to be rude. However a little heat from a typical propane torch will do if you did need to soften the loctite.
Solid video! Thanks for showing us. I have a 2021 GMC Sierra AT4 (6.2L) and "went up" one size taller tire (275/70 R18)...about 1/2" taller vehicle height. Curious if these spacers will work and not rub? Right now (no spacers) no rubbing and smooth ride with the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 3 tires on all four corners. Thank you.
Hi Chris, I would take some gap measurements with your front wheels turned full lock left and right and see how much space you have if the wheel was moved outward. My suspicion is that you would have a little rubbing at full lock and/or when going down a curb/driveway while turning. It would depend on the spacer's size too of course.
I have a 2022 gmc elevation and did that to my truck and got a 2 inch leveling kit and got Nitto Ridge Grappler 285/60/20 tires and now people think it’s a AT4 lol 😆
It's been a while since you have installed your spacers. Are they still on your truck? How do you like them? Have they given you any issues? Is there anything you would do different now? I'm thinking about getting some for my truck and trying to figure out what size I should get.
Hello. I wonder if you have any thoughts on the added stress on suspension components and bearings? Seems to be only downside but no one ever talks about it
I have heard the same, but this is only my opinion…..Heavier wheels/setup than stock and as the weight is moved further from the hub, then yes I think it puts more stress on the components. Especially the bearings and other wearable parts. I think many people also replace their vehicles more frequently and leave the wearing out for someone else to deal with.
@@Donslife I think that’s a good point. Running 85 pound mud tires probably puts more wear on a suspension than a 50 pound stock tire and wheel with a 1.5 spacer
Hey Don, in your opinion could you of gone with a 1.25 inch spacer and still had enough of a recess in the wheel to not have to trim any lugs? Many thanks
@donslife I purchase these upon your recommendation for my AT$ and want to tell you about my experience. I drove on these for around 4k miles between oil changes. I rotate my tires every oil change. My truck only has 10k miles and is not a daily driver. I have not towed or driven aggressively. I followed the directions and hand installed them with a torque wrench. I went to do the fist rotation since these were installed and 3 of the wheel studs on the extender broke right off with NO effort. I was SHOCKED and pulled them off immediately. I inspected them further and see a few studs that are cracked. I have had these for about 8 months cause its not driven daily. I tried to reach out to the company SEVERAL times and they will not respond back. I have found several others with the same problem with studs breaking off. I would ask you tell you viewers about these issues and the company not following up on complaints.
I will leave your feedback here. I have 2 sets (Escalade and Sierra) in use and have not had this experience or any problems for that matter. I also didn’t recommend this product specifically. I demonstrated a proper installation of a product and shared its information.
Howdy, I'm told that torque ft/lbs may also be a different requirement based on engine size?!? I followed the spacer manf. specs. but what about the wheel to spacer torque. Don has the 6.2, I have the 3.0 diesel. Different WHEEL-TO- SPACER TORQUE ft/lbs? Chime in!
Hey just got a white AT4 6.2 2023 same as yours 6 miles on it and adding mods already. Its what we do right... Lol Do you still have your wheel spacers on. And do you know if they would void the warranty. I saw the vid about warranty on the air cleaner that will be next but got to get that stance right first.
Congrats. Yes I still have spacers on. No issues and they won’t void your warranty unless they can be proven to have contributed to the failure of a warrantied part. So if your air conditioning stops working they can’t deny you warranty due to wheels spacers.
At first that was a concern, but honestly when you look at the spray pattern from the dirt and road film, it isn’t bad at all. The steps and built in mudflap still catch most of it.
Hello! If you’re doing any towing, it’s best to go hub centric with adapters, I can help with that. We are experts at wheel adapters and spacers and I’m happy to answer any questions you may have !
Don, any chance you would be willing to temparily remove the spacer on one tire and measure distances to fender and compare to with spacer? I have same type tire as you, but on 20in rims and wonder how much change in clearance the spacer causes.
Hi Andrew, next time I have a wheel off I can measure for you. It should be exactly 1.5” more towards the fender. I measured mine when I planned for them. The stock 20” wheels have a Goodyear All-Terrain, the 18’s are wrapped with Goodyear Duratracs. So even if I measure for you, our tires might be a little different on the tread on the outer edges. You can send me an email or message in Instagram (info in all of my video descriptions) and I can let you know measurements whenever I take the wheel off again.
Hey Heath! The link to them is in all of my video descriptions. Made by Richeer. Made Autoguide.com’s top 10 list. There are better ones but stock and distribution is hard to find in Canada. I like mine. No issues at all.
Properly installed hub centric spacers wouldn’t contribute to steering wobble. Usually an unbalanced wheel is the culprit. Second, maybe a suspension component is out of spec or improperly adjusted.
hello i have a 2014 silverado 1500 with no life of any kind with stock wheels now the rims are 18x8.5. tires 265x65x18. im lookn at 1.5 spacer the look im lookn for is just as yours. only thing what is your rim size. truck looks awesome.

I recommended hub-centric but I don’t have a favorite brand. I had extremely limited options in Canada at the time (no one had stock) so I tried these and I am happy with them
Love all the mods you have done!!! Have you considered doing a block delete on the rear suspension to level the truck? A leveling kit ruined my steering on my prior 2017 Silverado. So I am hesitant to level my At4.
I leveled my 2019 AT4 with the Readylift sst kit that comes with the control arms and a 1" block for the rear. So far....no regrets. It's a big job though.
What size socket for the lug nut ? I bought a 22mm but it seems to barely grab on I’m wondering if it is different , also what brand wheel spacers you went with ?
Hi Ryan, no lift installed currently, just the 2” AT4 factory state. The tires/wheels are stock too in this video. The spacers I feel helped the stance look better without compromising the little space with the front wheel wells.
These are 1.5” spacers with my factory 18” Wheels and Duratracs (275/65r18). The factory wheels have a notch where the stud needs to be and it provided enough room. A very clean install
@@kellyhughes1266 I think you’d be okay still. I see the link is defaulting to 2” because the 1.5” are out of stock. Good news is you can return them if the studs are too long
Thanks for the info and the videos, one more question, on the video it looks like the clearance after you installed the spacers was pretty tight but it is difficult to see very well. How much clearance do you actually have and do you think the 2 inch spacers would still clear without any problem?
Hi Don...love your videos. I have the same wheel set up as you, however I have 285/70/18 tires. Do you think the size difference will create a rubbing problem with these spacers?? Thanks
@@Donslife I decided to go with 1.25" spacers to be safe or so I thought. Drivers side can turn full lock with no problem. Passenger side rubs the back upper mud flap at about a quarter turn. So I guess I'm going to do some alterations. I saw somewhere where they remove the bracket the mud flap bolts to give more room.
Good question but don’t think I even have one rock chip yet that the wheels would be responsible for. To be fair if I drive on gravel, I try to go very slow
@@Donslife I don't have the AT4, will the spacers cause any rubbing? I have a 1.75 inch front level, and running LT 285/60/20 tires on stock wheels, on the elevation model.
@@Donslife Thanks for this video, and all the others you've posted. I'm a Trail Boss owner both are very similar. Thinking about ordering the spacers, any issues after some months of use and road time?
Hi, the spacers link is in my video description. I think they will be okay. So far they have been excellent. I am sure that my minimal spacer size is why I am confident. They are forged aluminum alloy with a 2 yr warranty. When I get aftermarket wheels, I will be removing them. I plan to keep them with these wheels though since they offset is perfect for what I wanted.
If you use thread lock, you shouldn’t have to re-torque the spacers. I didn’t go heavy on the thread lock either since I didn’t want an issue when I want to take them off.
Yes 140 on the Wheels and no more than 140 with the spacer to the hub. This brand of spacer recommended 120lbs on the spacer, but I felt the grade of the bolts would be fine at 140. This is what I did, but you have to decide for yourself
Dang! I bought the exact ones you did and I'm having some rubbing issues. Factory tires too, but mine is a 2019. Wonder if there's something different. I'm not convinced a leveling kit would resolve it either 😔
@@Donslife It's on the rear-most side on the plastic rock deflector. It's not too bad - I think I'm just going to grind it down a bit and problem solved. Love your videos, and hope you don't mind me stealing all your ideas 😁 If I do, I'll have the best looking AT4 in North Dakota!
The ones you got on the link are 1.25" are those the ones you used? Those look nice though thinking about pulling the plug on these. Thanks in advance!
Mine are 1.5”. The link is for 1.5”, but if they are out of stock it will load the next available size. I would do 1.25” personally vs 2” for the wheels I am running.
You can take your wheel off and measure the exposed stud length. Then look at the back of your wheels and determine if there are recesses (like mine) that the end of the stud could set into if it was a little long
Don, I love your videos! I just installed the Rough Country 2" level kit on my 2019 AT4 1500. I have 35/12.5/20 tires on the factory wheels and the UCA's are REALLY close to the tire. Do you think adding spacers like this would help? If so, any additional advice you would give for this setup to ensure safety and maximum efficiency? Thanks!
I do think that the right size spacer or offset wheel (best option) will help. You can do some measurements with the wheel at full lock both ways and get an estimate on how far the edge of your tire can go (pushed away) from the vehicle if a spacer was installed. Just a guess, but something small would be adequate. The closer the center of the wheel stays to the factory intended placement is always the best and safest option.
@@Donslife thanks for the response! I'm getting feedback on other forums that the upper control arms are pretty close to the tires on the AT4's straight from the factory (I never paid attention to this before). How close are yours and how close is "too close," in your opinion? Thanks
Mine with the spacers is about 2.25 inches. So stock anything over 0.5 inches is probably enough. Unless your tire’s sidewall compresses under a significant force and rubs the UCA, you are probably okay at that 1/2” gap or larger.
Luv all your videos. You have helped me a bunch with new ideas and tips for my GMC 2019 AT4. I just leveled it with the Ready Lift kit and now it is time for my spacers. I would suggest more lock tite front to back across more of the threads rather than across a few threads going left to right. Any thoughts on anti seize on the center ring and on the wheel hub? My test fit was even snug and semi hard to get off before I went full torque. Any hoot... you do great work and I am like you, no vehicle stays stock for long. Keep up the good work. What size socket for the lug nut ? I bought a 22mm but it seems to barely grab on I’m wondering if it is different , also what brand wheel spacers you went with ?
Are you still running these spacers, is so, you still liking them?
They are still on and performing 👌🏼 No regrets
@@Donslife Nice. Think I'm going to pull the trigger on a set. Thanks!
What kind of lift does your at4 have? And also what are the tire sizes I’m surprised there’s no rubbing given the new angled model wheel wells.
Hi Ryan, no lift installed currently, just the 2” AT4 factory state. The tires/wheels are stock too in this video. The spacers I feel helped the stance look better without compromising the little space with the front wheel wells.
What size are your tires in this video?
275/65r18 with factory 18” AT4 wheels that come with a 24mm offset (.94”) so the 1.5” spacer helped.
What size tires are on your truck? Would the spacers have worked without trimming the studs if the spacers were only 1/5 inches?
These are 1.5” spacers with my factory 18” Wheels and Duratracs (275/65r18). The factory wheels have a notch where the stud needs to be and it provided enough room. A very clean install
@@Donslife Oh, the amazon link takes you to a set (4) and it says 2 inch, would you think that there would be any trimming needed with the 2 inch?
@@kellyhughes1266 I think you’d be okay still. I see the link is defaulting to 2” because the 1.5” are out of stock. Good news is you can return them if the studs are too long
Thanks for the info and the videos, one more question, on the video it looks like the clearance after you installed the spacers was pretty tight but it is difficult to see very well. How much clearance do you actually have and do you think the 2 inch spacers would still clear without any problem?
Any updates Don since installing these? Curious if you still run them or would still recommend them?
Thnx. Will be doing this also 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
I like the look they helped me achieve!
@@Donslife I’m doing this on my stock 22 I’ve lowered my truck
@@mhhmmm_its_ed Nice! I used to have a lowered truck with a notched frame and bagged on all 4 corners
Hi Don...love your videos. I have the same wheel set up as you, however I have 285/70/18 tires. Do you think the size difference will create a rubbing problem with these spacers?? Thanks
Not 100% sure. Can you turn your wheels full lock and estimate if moving them outward 1.5” would still allow clearance?
@@Donslife I decided to go with 1.25" spacers to be safe or so I thought. Drivers side can turn full lock with no problem. Passenger side rubs the back upper mud flap at about a quarter turn. So I guess I'm going to do some alterations. I saw somewhere where they remove the bracket the mud flap bolts to give more room.
Well at least we know
Did you have to cut your studs or did wheels fit over them without any trimming?@@KeithClausen
What Jack are you using?
One I bought from Costco like 10+ years ago
What do you suppose the biggest tire you can run with 1.50” spacers?
Thanks for the video. Any chance you've since discovered any rubbing due to the spacers?
Thank you! No rubbing with the size that I chose. Even with the steering full lock going up and down (backwards) the curb of my driveway.
@@Donslife Thank you!
Hey Don, Do you recall the brand of wheel spacer you used ?
Richeer 1.5" Wheel Spacers for GMC 1500: amzn.to/3t4OJRn
@@Donslife Thanks buddy..
No problem!
Are those stock running boards?
Yes sir. Called the High Clearance Step. Very low inventory the past couple years
Looks good! Did you consider Bora brand spacers at all?
Yes I did! I couldn’t find any in Canada at the time.
Any problems with these after a bit of use ? I’m waiting on mine to come in the mail for my f150
How is your paint? Are you getting rock chips? This is the only thing holding me back from spacers
Good question but don’t think I even have one rock chip yet that the wheels would be responsible for. To be fair if I drive on gravel, I try to go very slow
@@Donslife okay that's good to know! Thanks for the reply
@@Donslife I don't have the AT4, will the spacers cause any rubbing? I have a 1.75 inch front level, and running LT 285/60/20 tires on stock wheels, on the elevation model.
Looks a lot better I went with 2in spaces but I think it was to much so I might change them 1.5 spaces I am running 22x10 rims
Fair! I liked them on my factory wheels. If I add some nice fender flares, I will be upgrading the wheels to have the ideal offset and line up.
@@Donslife Thanks for this video, and all the others you've posted. I'm a Trail Boss owner both are very similar. Thinking about ordering the spacers, any issues after some months of use and road time?
How do you feel about towing with these on?
Just fine. Mentioned a few times in newer videos
What’s the reasoning the have you torque different lbs every 500 miles. Why not the factory 140lbs right off the bat ?
Hey Don, what kind of spacers did you use and how are the holding up now ? Will they last in our winters since it’s made of aluminum?
Hi, the spacers link is in my video description. I think they will be okay. So far they have been excellent. I am sure that my minimal spacer size is why I am confident. They are forged aluminum alloy with a 2 yr warranty. When I get aftermarket wheels, I will be removing them. I plan to keep them with these wheels though since they offset is perfect for what I wanted.
@@Donslife thanks for the info, I am going to run the stock rims as well
@@Donslife one more question do you have to re torque the spacer as well after 500km or just the rim?
If you use thread lock, you shouldn’t have to re-torque the spacers. I didn’t go heavy on the thread lock either since I didn’t want an issue when I want to take them off.
When you re torqued everything did you do the spacers to 140 and the tires to 140?
Yes 140 on the Wheels and no more than 140 with the spacer to the hub. This brand of spacer recommended 120lbs on the spacer, but I felt the grade of the bolts would be fine at 140. This is what I did, but you have to decide for yourself
@@Donslife thank you sir!
Dang! I bought the exact ones you did and I'm having some rubbing issues. Factory tires too, but mine is a 2019. Wonder if there's something different. I'm not convinced a leveling kit would resolve it either 😔
That’s odd. I haven’t had one rubbing incident
@@Donslife It's on the rear-most side on the plastic rock deflector. It's not too bad - I think I'm just going to grind it down a bit and problem solved. Love your videos, and hope you don't mind me stealing all your ideas 😁
If I do, I'll have the best looking AT4 in North Dakota!
Hey man, love the content. I assume you’re still rockin these spacers. I’m looking to put in my order.
Yep! Still have them on! Thanks for the support!
long term update?
Going strong 💪🏼 Zero issues
The ones you got on the link are 1.25" are those the ones you used? Those look nice though thinking about pulling the plug on these. Thanks in advance!
Mine are 1.5”. The link is for 1.5”, but if they are out of stock it will load the next available size. I would do 1.25” personally vs 2” for the wheels I am running.
@@Donslife Im using the stock elevation wheels on my 20 Sierra. If I use 1.25" do I have to cut the bolt if it sticks out pass the spacer?
You can take your wheel off and measure the exposed stud length. Then look at the back of your wheels and determine if there are recesses (like mine) that the end of the stud could set into if it was a little long
@@Donslife thanks for your help subbed!
Happy to help!
Looks just right now. Do you have spacers on the M4?
Yes I do. Putting the summer tires and rims on soon. Snowing quite a bit here today
How do u find the torque specs to the truck parts
Are these 2 inch spacers?
1.5”
Would these spacers fit a 2021 Sierra slt or just at4?
They should fit no problem
@@Donslife thanks!!!
I tried 1.5” spacers on my 2019 AT4 today… rubbed in the wheel well. I took them off. Bummer
Stock wheels? If yes, 20’s or 18’s?
20s. Stock wheels, yes.
Are those the 20” or 18” wheels?
18” factory AT4 option
Nicely done.
What size is your tire buddy? I have some 35 /12.50/20
Truck is 4 months old and I am still running the stock 275/65 on 18’s
How bad is the kick-up on the side of your truck?
Surprisingly it has not been a concern
These tires don’t throw a lot of rocks either
Thanks for the reply
Great vid. What size r ur tires?
For now the factory size Duratracs 265/65R18
Are the spacers still holding up?
100%. No issues or concerns at all
@@Donslife thanks for the info, just ordered from your link in the description, i hope they are not like the rest they get broken studs
When did you retorque?
About 60 miles later for the spacers. Then again for the wheels after another 60 miles since I had to take them off to torque the spacers
@@Donslife i was not sure, i drove about 100 miles so far. I will retorque now. Do we need to retorque often
@@Leduan81 you should be fine to leave them until you take off a wheel (tire rotation for example)
@@Donslife thanks i did check just in case. They were still torqued. Next time i check is about 3k miles.
Will 2 in spacers clear?
Sorry, clear which part?
The spacers help with control arm clearance but will decrease clearance at bumper and mud flap area when turning sharp
@@andrewfortier88 💯 fact👍
I'd use the blue loctite.
You certainly could. Some people choose not to use any
Link for the spacers?
Thanks for checking out the video. I put it in the top area of the video description. Here it is : amzn.to/3t4OJRn
My Hyper Dip GMC badges turned out great..inspired by you.
I also put all black lug nuts, and all are keyed/locks
Thanks for the support! A little anti seize against the hub shouldn’t hurt. I am happy with my Hyperdipped parts too. ✌🏼
Nice work.
