Charlie Bruckman I legit saw a Cadillac commercial about a month ago and didn't even realize it wasn't an ad for some European crossover until they showed the brand name at the end. Even CADILLACS look like everything else today! I might not mind if the style actually looked decent, but besides the one size fits all bullshit, it's the ugliest era for car design we've ever had!
I was watching a review of a $90k+ Cadillac CT6-V and looking at the back seats wondering why they looked so cheap, hard, and devoid of interest compared to this 1986 Pontiac. This was the era when auto manufacturers paid a lot more attention to passenger comfort and a luxury vs. today's focus on technology, performance, and driving dynamics.

I've got one of these... a little less mileage. It was my late mother's car. She bought it brand new in the winter of 1985. Similar condition, it has never been in the rain or snow, and stored indoors. Burgundy paint, burgundy vinyl roof, burgundy interior, with identical seats and door panels as seen here. Very quiet interior! Interesting the car seen in this video has the Olds 307 with the oil fill point at the front of the motor, and the battery on the driver's side, while the 1986 Parisienne Brougham I have has the factory Chev 305 4bbl, with the battery on the passenger side, and the oil fill point on the valve cover.
This was what GM was best at - building durable, reliable full size cars.

My Mom was very proud of that car. It was the first car she purchased for herself. Prior to that we always had a single car for the family, purchased by my Dad.
Nothing was ever carried in the trunk, and the interior still smells like a new car.
Maybe I will make a video of the car one day, and upload to UA-cam. I have made videos for some older cars I have, but thought a 1986 GM B Body might be a bit too common to be of interest... maybe I am wrong.
I had a 79 Caprice Classic 2 door and a 84 Caprice classic 4 door which are twins to this car. I loved those cars. They ride like a dream, real smooth and soft. Nothing like today's cars. These were the last of some of the best GM cars ever built IMO. Seeing this makes me want to look for another.
I had a 79 Cadillac coup Deville at the same time my Dad had a 84 Caprice classic the ride in the Caprice was way way more comfortable than the Caddy
Here in Australia as a kid I used to see these cars advertised in the National Geographics that were ubiquitous in doctors’ and dentists’ waiting rooms. They seemed impossibly sleek, luxurious and exotic.

Quiet on the inside, just float down the highway. Even not having the power, it will eat up these newer cars. Park Avenue, Bonneville, Caprice, Lesabre, impala, Delta 88, Ninety eight.
Cars too clean, I wouldn’t sell it. I’d just let the younger generation admire it from a distance. All their gonna do is tear it up.
I had an 86 too. I bought it from my boss for $1,500. Loved that car.

Real bumpers are right, not plastic, chrome shines better which make the car look better. Plastic bumpers can crack easy even in a minor accident. I miss cars like these.

@@AQDuz Those were not classic cars. They were American luxury cars. There would be nothing wrong with making a large American luxury sedan, like an updated Town Car, today. Instead, the market has been taken over by the imports entirely. Those imports cost a fortune, and only Lexus is reliable. "Luxury" today means insane performance, but not everyone wants that in a car. Some would actually like soft, pillow-top seats.

When i said it would be wierd to make a classic car (i ment to add that in my comment) in 2019, i was pointing out that most cusomers would just flock over to new luxury cars cause they cost more and it have improved stuff in it or its better in consumers mind. My aunt and uncle had one of these. We all freaked when we first saw it (I was 4 years old.) They kept that car until 1996 - and close to 400,000 km.
Being from a 86 yr old original owner it was used only twice a week. The once a week grocery store run and church on Sunday mornings. Probably never saw more than 55 mph on highways and never moved out of the left side fast lane. We've all been stuck behind the elders doing 55. Also the elderly always bring their cars in for service when needed. This is the type of car you want. Beautiful full sized Detroit Luxury!!

It's true. They did them well but by 86', this was such a dated car that was essentially a carryover from the 70s. I still love them though. I Used to own an 84' Olds Delta 88 Royale.

@@JDMHaze The Northstar was in production for 20 years, still the longest-produced Caddy engine in history. Hardly a failure. One of the few times when GM didn't give up on a name after five years of production.

My uncle had a blue one of these. My mom had a maroon 86 Bonneville, my dad had a two tone brown 84 Bonneville, and they shared my uncle's blue 85 Bonneville once he bought the Parisianne. Needless to say, I have a special place in my heart for cars like this.

1986 did have Cadillacs with fender skirts my 1996 has the rear closed wheelwell on my sedan Deville, but in 1997 again, the skirts were back. Fleetwoods had skirts in one way or another

My grandparents had an 84 looks exactly the same only difference they had the odometer roll over twice. Crazy to think over 2 million miles. But hey when your retired and love to drive why not drive with a car that just floats down the road.
I have a 1985 chevy Caprice Classic... It's been over the road and not as nice as this, but mechanically sound and starts up and drives great...

@@donaldperry9241 Some designs look very ugly, they cost more, and they look tacky when put on the wrong car. My kinda style is the unmarked cop car type. Steel wheels that match the color of the car, dog-dish hubcaps, tinted windows, the whole nine yards.

I had a 1986 Parisienne Brougham back in 1998, sky blue with a white leather top!! I put dual mufflers on it and had it lifted a lil higher than normal with 2 inche white walls smh I was literally in LOVE with that car!!
I know there is a buyer for every vehicle out there, but I think its going to take a special buyer out there to can appreciate this car for what it is and preserve it. This buyer is gonna be hard to find today. Yeah, its nice to look at, but I wouldn't want it.

Spectacular. My father had an 85 ..he loved the thing to death. Thus was back when I was in high school. I wasn't the most careful driver back then...ended up scraping the whole right side and vynil top on a fence post. I thought I was done for. He wasn't happy at all obviously. Then a few months later...the temp gauge pegged ..and I got it home ..and saw there was antifreeze in the oil. Ended up being the intake gasket...alrhough he only found that out after a guy bought the car and pulled the engine.
I hated driving it cause I thought it looked like an old farts vehicle.
Now..i would love to have not wrecked the car and still have it today.
Was just a stupid kid with little to no responsibility.
My dad had a 1986 a Pontiac Parisenne brougham maroon with vinyl top and whire wheel covers. It was awesome. It took off like a rocket with the 307 V8. It was so smooth that it felt as if it was going 36 mph but it was 80 mph. I was like whoa but wow! That's luxury. The one you have looks brand new. Nice.
GM was the most profitable when the different divisions were producing quality full size and mid size cars. The Olds 307 was a derivative of the 350 Rocket V8. The 307 was a great engine for these full size cars. We had one in a Delta 88 Royale and it soldiered on for many many years.
It is really unfortunate that these cars got killed by the environmentalists and their CAFE crap.
Hopefully it will go to a good home.
The GMAC key chain was also a nice touch. The car was probably financed with GMAC when new. GMAC was great to deal with back in the day. Someone told me that GMAC was the most profitable division of General Motors.

My grandmother had an '89 Caprice Classic LS Brougham, and this car brought me right back to riding in that car with her.
They were very similar. The Electra and the 98 used the identical frame. The 88, LeSabre, and Caprice, another. The Grand Prix, Regal, Monte Carlo, Cutlass, from 1979 till the front wheel drive used the G body. The Pontiac Bonneville Model G...the G body....a 4 door model. GM shared platforms across their product lines, just like Ford and Chrysler...but much more than in the 60s and 70s...but it was still done.

(400 SB) 1975 Bonneville coupe(400), 75 Bonneville sedan(400). Both grand autos. The 75 had 250k...the 76. 225k. 1978 Buick Electra Limited(Olds 403 V8)...265k miles...never an issue..bought it at 103k. 1979 Buick Electra Limited(Buick 350 V8).
The 79 Buick 350 was a POS. Head gasket blew, trans failed. Disappointing. I had a 73 LeSabre, 350 Buick...same deal..POS. I also had a 1973 Olds Delta 88 Royale convertible, 455 High output. Ran wonderful, but 12 mpg at best. Friends had a 1973 Electra, 455...wonderful
@@michaelcook768 ...yes, curious about the the troubles with the Buick 350..the diesel 350's were crap...BUT...as you noted, well more than 200k miles on many of them...I had a '77 Nova with more than 300k, other mid-late 70's cars (couple were a '77, and'78 Olds Cutlass) with more than 200k. I always find it odd how many times you see it quoted that how terrible 70's American vehicles were and how they were unreliable and would not last(??)...by contrast, I had a 73 Datsun wagon, 72 Toyota Carina, both rode like a wagon, weak as piss, seats hard as a board, no padding to speak of, you could feel the seat springs and frames...the Toyota was drinking oil and smoking, front end worn out well before 200k, the Datsun engine lasted a little better, but was very weak and the body rusted out. Both got around 18-20mpg.. I believe the mid-late 70's American engines actually started lasting longer, they put out so little power they didn't hurt themselves if driven and maintained reasonably, but still had enough torque to move along nicely. I strongly suspect part of the reputation of "not lasting", and the imports reputation of "lasting", came from the fact that American vehicles, until the late 1980's-early 1990's, did not display hundreds of thousand of miles on the odometer, whereas the imports did.. they simply rolled over to 0 again after 99,000 miles...I strongly believe many, if not most, cars on the used car lot that dealers claimed were "original miles"(what are "original miles, anyway?), were really 100,00 plus the "original miles"... I think this was a dealer trick to take advantage of the fact the true mileage was not displayed...also, I think many of the cars that looked obviously more worn, were passed off by dealers(and individuals) as having "a Hundred and XXX" miles, where in reality many had 200k, or even 300k miles....most auto trannies back then would last 100,00-150,00 miles before needing rebuilt...some longer. My theory of higher actual miles would help explain the always-worn out driver's door hinges, and the fact domestic cars suddenly regularly started accumulating more than 200k once the odometers were changed to display hundreds of thousands of miles.....

In 1989, my uncle handed down this exact car to me, without the tacky window shades and key lock trim. Had the 307 cu.in oldsmobile motor with 4bbl. Overdrive and the factory Chapman kill switch. Was a great driver, and better looking.
This car brings memories back to my grandfather who passed away he had a 86 car just like this but it was magenta coloured
I learned to drive in that boat of a car. My mom had an '86 Parisienne just like it but burgundy exterior over the same red interior here. Such memories! I'd buy this if I could.

This was nice to see. I liked the Parisienne when it got the 1981 Pontiac Bonneville sheet metal. This one is missing a passenger power seat. It is loaded. The Parisienne got the seats, the door panels( interior) and the rear doors to the back of the car is 1981 Pontiac Bonneville sheet metal. The instrumentation panel, front end (except the grille design) is Chevrolet Caprice. The 1982-1984 Parisiennes had more in common with Chevrolet Caprice as everyone said. They never stopped production of this car in Canada after the 1981 Pontiac Bonneville/Parisienne died. There was a coupe there too. This car was a success because Pontiac needed a large car as Bonneville switched to the G Body in 1982( replaced Grand LeMans). It was at a great time because GM had downsized the Oldsmobiles and Buicks around this time as well as Cadillacs too. It offered what customers expected from those brands. The wagon lived on through the 1989 model year as Safari. In 1990, Pontiac no more large rear drive cars. The final rear drive sedan was G8.

I always forget Pontiac sold more traditional "Brougham" models like this and the G-body Grand Prix 2 door. When you say 1980's Pontiac, I always think of the more futuristic type of cars like the Firebird, Trans Am, Fiero, Grand Am(ugh) or the W-body Grand Prix with the million button digital dash.
When I was a kid, my uncle had an '81 Parisienne Brougham (we never called big Pontiacs "Bonnevilles" up here in Canada), it was an odd-optioned car, had the 4.4 liter (267) V8, air, cruise (no tilt wheel), crank windows & manual locks & seats, but had a power trunk & cassette player. Always thought that it was odd that it wasn't fully loaded. It was gorgeous though, tu-tone silver over dark blue (slick-top) with wire wheels & dark blue crush velvet. He drove it into the ground pretty much & replaced it with a really basic '91 Chevrolet Lumina, it was nowhere near as classy as the Pontiac.

That is awesome!! I’m 48 years old and my first car was a 1971 Cadillac Fleetwood brougham with the black limousine interior and a 472 engine and 400 turbo trans. That was my first car when I was 13 years old. I will never forget it. Again I was 13 years old and this car was beat to shit and only ran on six of the eight cylinders but it was the best card I’ve ever had LOL

Once again GREAT post, taking me down Memory Lane. Had almost identical 1980 Bonneville Brougham with plush dark red interior 👌. Sadly for 82 PONTIAC discontinued full size and moved Bonneville name to mid size. Soon realized mistake and used Parisienne name from Canadian PONTIAC. First U.S. Parisienne were much more Chevy like and referred to as CAPRICE in DRAG. PONTIAC went back to basic 80 and 81 Bonneville Brougham look. This one is a black beauty! 👍

Yessir a beautiful car. I have a 1985 Pontiac Parissiene Custom. Deep maroon ext and burgundy cloth. Plenty loaded but not like yours. Mine is mint perfect. I'm the second owner (bought it used in Poughkeepsie NY from original owner in 1990. It has 64,000mi with the 4.3 vortec v6. It's as new conditions no modifications. I want 5,000 bucks for it not a penny less. It's been in Marietta ga since 1996 zero rust never any body work.
I feel like a kid again I had that for my first car I can smell it through the screen that old hub cap key I still have almost 20 years later I love the paint mine was the exact same colors except mine was sun scorched from the Carolinas

I have a white one with blue interior sitting in the building on the back end of my property. It has lower miles than this one. Only 31k miles on it. My parents have been together for over 40 years. When I was about 6. My mom and dad split up. My dad moved back to Georgia with his family and my mom took us kids to California with my grandparents. This could only manage to stay away from each other for about a year, because a year later they were back together. The Pontiac Parisienne is my dads and he loves the car. When him and my mom decided to get back together. He purchased the car from an older gentleman in Georgia just to drive across country to California. When he got to California. He put a cover on the car and it was never used again. The only time its even been moved over the years is when I moved it from my parents driveway to the building on my property and there it sits. Its in pristine condition. Apparently the gentleman that owned it never really drove it. Sold it to my dad. He took the 3000 mile trip across country in it and never drove it again. This is basically GM's luxury version of the Caprice Classic. They are nice cars. Ive actually wanted to clean it up and put it back on the road but my dads not having it. He calls the car his love chariot, because its the car he bought to get back to his baby lol.
I have the other bookend to yours! a 1986,, White with Blue Velour interior. A tire company near me lost a hub cap. The manager said "No Problem, just buy one , bring me the receipt and we'll pay for it." That was more than a year ago now and I just can't find one..1 stupid hub cap?! Just turned 120 K. Gosh it is so comfortable, it's like I'm sitting on my couch in my living room. I hope that your father will give you the Title some day soon. Enjoy what you can of it. Keep Smiling...

I had a 1987 Delta Royale that lasted until 210 thousand miles and 2 trannies but engine never died just knocked in the end . Now I have a 1989 Buick skylark factory sports package 30 thousand original miles NO rust just bad headliner

Pontiac , Buick & olds all had nice cars
This was actually identical to the Impala except Pontiac added their logo and trim. Good cars for the day.
Also it was identical to the 86 Caprice except in the tailights.
I wish Pontiac would come back the sure made some beautiful classic automobiles.
My parents had one of these when I was a kid, loved this car. It was even the same color
It was also the car I learned to drive with.
My first car was an 84 . Miss it.

Absolutely stunning car. The few times i do come across a survivor like this, especially a brougham edition, it always seems to be in black! Nice to finally see a car reseller who has good taste and removed as much of the tacky aftermarket items that really detract from the car's original appearance. I wish more car dealers had as good of taste as the creator of this channel. Hope it goes to a very loving good Pontiac collector's home.

@@froglobster I've never seen on produced in dark blue. That must be an amazing color even compared to black as the blue won't be as pronounced at showing all the swirl marks. What color interior does yours have? Is it a 1985 or 1986?

I remember these cars quite well from the Pontiac line keep up the good work too.
Parisienne was a Canada only model equivalent to the Bonneville originally,.rare crossover into the US market.
Beautiful Gm... absolutely loved the B bodies , and that low pitched hum the 5.0 liter s made when accelerating takes me back to those times . 😎👍
