Great trip back to the eighties, Anthony! That is one beautiful 98. That body style of 98 is what actually got me interested them. Lots lots of love and thanks from Leicestershire United Kingdom. I used to drive all those u out here in year 1984-1990. One of my most most favourite. Will definitely buy one as soon come to USA. This is my dream. You doing brilliant. Thanks from heart.
I was just thinking this morning that you still hadn't put the Olds up, and there it is! My '81 Regency was stolen, so this is real nostalgia for me. If I had the garage space, I would buy it in a heartbeat.
Wow Anthony, what a blast from the past. I'm a Virginia native, and recognized the inspection sticker immediately. Our inspection stickers were always placed in the center of the windshield, with your city, or county license decal placed beside it, making them very easy to be seen by state & local police, who would issue you a ticket if either one was expired. In the last two years, the inspection sticker has been moved to the lower left hand corner of the windshield, and the locality decal removed entirely, because they interfered with modern day GPS, and Autonomous Braking Systems. Yay! This generation of Oldsmobile 98 Regency sedans were very popular in central Virginia because of a large dealership here named Royal Oldsmobile. Sadly, they closed when GM shut down both the Pontiac, & Oldsmobile brands. I was devastated, the two brands produced some of my favorite cars during those years. The GTO, Firebird, Cutlass Supreme, and 442's were the cars I "lusted" after when I was a young buck. Those days are long gone, but I still have my memories. Thanks for the trip back to the days of my "misspent" youth, I do remember them fondly! P.S. Bristol, Va. is in southwest corner of the state, near the Tennessee border, and is the home of NASCAR's Bristol Motor Speedway, host this weekend to both the Camping World Truck Series, and NASCAR Cup Series races. It was to have been a big weekend because the asphalt track surface has been covered in dirt for a couple of "one off" races, but it rained overnight last night, and into the day today, cancelling the Truck Race this afternoon, and making the Cup Race on Sunday "iffy"!
"The Olds 98 was the smart man's Cadillac" The Regency's interior was better than the Cadillac SDV or Electra. You had to order the Cadillac de Elegence package to rival it. and the Regency Brougham's was nice too. One of my folk's 98 had a tissue holder in the back seat, another had a clock...Their last 98 was an 1984, it was beautiful,
I converted a 83 Olds 98 Regency Brougham from diesel to an Olds 350 in the early 90’s. Man did that car run like a devil with the lower diesel rear end gears. These cars were just as nice as Caddies of the same year in my opinion.
I had an 83 Recency four door! It was often mistaken for a Cadillac! In fact, back then I detailed cars. The original owner brought it to me with 17 miles on it straight from the dealer and said "do whatever you think it needs"! I waxed every painted surface! Hinges, under the doors, the hood and trunk inside.. in 1988 he bought a Fleetwood and I bought the Olds! For 3 years he wanted to buy it back! I drove that car across country 7 times racking up 187,000 miles all the while cleaning and waxing it like day one every 3 months! In 1995 it was stolen and striped bare! I was heartbroken! Got $800 for it from the insurance. I still miss that car today!
I inherited my grandfathers when I was 19 back in the 80s sweet car made me feel rich as a teenager😂. Ran greater until a sherif deputy hit me and totaled the car. Mine was gray and maroon with maroon interior.
You finally put it up for sale!! Congrats Anthony - I know it will sell today, many have been waiting for this moment! 😂 Olds are still my faves and this one is a beauty! 👀
What a gorgeous automobile! Absolutely love the color combination and it's rare leather interior! I love my Cadillacs, but these GM cousins are absolutely amazing and should be saved as well! GM's luxury line up went 1 Cadillac, 2 Oldsmobile, 3 Buick and 4 & 5 Pontiac and Chevrolet. Some argue that Buicks are before Oldsmobile, but most agree that Oldsmobile is closest behind the car, the legendary Cadillac. This car is gonna make someone very happy!
Great car! Only negative I can say is $8995 would be much more palatable if the radio was in operating condition, weatherstripping on driver door repaired/replaced, and the R 12 A/C were recharged and serviced. Other than that...extremely attractive. (Your videos are much more enjoyable and show more integrity than Bill's)
Wow.... I had 2 of these back in the day. A 1980 and then an 84. Loved this car! A sailboat on wheels.. The only drawback was the 307 V8 which was vastly underpowered for a heavy beast of this size..... Still beautiful!
This car is just simply stunning. Equal to, even better than, a Cadillac! I mean, I love Cadillacs, I've had two: a 1977 Sedan De Ville and a 1986 Fleetwood Brougham: but, much as I love them, I'd rather have one of these. (Or even a Buick Park Avenue or, though they're not quite as luxurious, a Pontiac Parisienne.) But these, to me, are probably actually the true superior GM car, at least in terms of gorgeousness of appearance, if nothing else. :)
A styling feature I like that these Ninety-Eight's had that the Cadillac Devilles/Fleetwood Broughams of this era were missing are the rear fender skirts. They really compliment the long profile of these land yachts and I never knew why Cadillac ditched them during these years.
Very nice & bittersweet at the same time. A beautiful original car that's been pampered , garaged & well maintained by its original owner, destined to sit in a field at an Auction Site for a year. Such an injustice to this rare machine. I'm surprised the red interior didn't take more beating from all the sun! Noting you said the vinyl top looked rich & glossy in pictures, but after a year being out, dried & faded? Just shows how vulnerable these 'classics' are. Even though an older car still looks pristine, that original "condition" won't maintain its perfect State if exposed to the Elements. These are NOT new car replacements. I have a feeling my babies are gonna wind up in the same way when I go 😔 ☹️
Just beautiful😊 had a '98 Regency built September '97, no comparison, the Ninety Eight/Regency & Toronado are Oldsmobile's 2 best models in my opinion, currently own a '66😃
Love this car! Colour combo is beautiful :) I had a 81 ,Florida car brown on brown. 5.7 diesel. And yes it did run , it ran great. It had a GM Goodwrench reman engine with upgraded head bolts and gaskets. I changed the thermostat to one from. 7.3 powerstoke, flows way more gpm. Let it warm up before driving. 35 mpg. I know those engines were junk. But I’m proud to say I had great luck with mine. Love to see such a clean 98 like this !
if leather needs to be cleaned, melt a bar of dove soap in water for a few days, and use the mushy soap and water it to clean the leather. be sure to use a white wash cloth, and make sure not too much color is coming off
The car is beautiful, I am sure Anthony has check this car from top to bottom and replaced all maintenance items. This is a great price for this blast from the past.
Everytime I see seats like that, I think I need to find some, build a frame, and use them as an office chair! Some of the most comfortable seats ever put into an automobile.
A lot of people don't know but Oldsmobile was a true test car for Cadillac. I've had 14 Cadillacs in my life and 1 Oldsmobile and that Olds was a 1990 Cutlass Supreme International Series and it made ALL EUROPEAN CARS LOOK BAD IN technology, computers and luxury. Alot of people missed out or just didn't hear about this product from Oldsmobile. Next couple of years later these innovations were perfected on all Cadillac models.
Beautiful car!!! Hope it stays in the USA... I wish it had the optional 5.7 Diesel. That car belongs in a museum!! You just don't see these anymore at all. I see maybe one every two years.
I drove a similar car back in the day. An '85 Delta 88 2-door. Very comfortable car, and that 307 actually got great mileage. Handling was terrible though so I put upgraded shocks on it and 225/60 tires. Made all the difference in the world! Unfortunately it got repoed in the '91 recession.
These are rare because they were purchased as family haulers, used, and disposed of. A few of my friends’ families had these. At one point, there was a nice coupe down the street from my parents’ house. It may still be there. This was a choice prom ride during its time. Best wishes to the new owner. The GM luxury hierarchy started with Chevrolet at the bottom. That’s followed by Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Buick, and Cadillac at the top.
Hi Anthony - I really enjoy all of your videos. Oldsmobiles and Cadillacs have been my favorite cars since childhood. I am actually retired in Naples Florida where Bill lives and have purchased a car from him. I am very happy with the weather here. I grew up in an Oldsmobile family. My first car was a Blue 1969 Olds Cutlass S. My dad’s first Olds was a Black and White 1957 Super 88. His last Olds was a Burgundy 1973 Olds 98 Regency with that plush black velour interior. Then he upgraded to an absolutely beautiful White 1984 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz with a white leather interior. You didn’t mention it, but this 1984 Olds 98 is important because it was the last “big” Oldsmobile. GM downsized in 1985. I am interested in buying this car and sent you my contact information through your website. However, I know that it will probably already be sold by the time that you read this. Keep up the good work and continued good luck! Thank you, Jim
That's a real gem, right along with the wide white wall tires. You couldn't be more right about Bill from Autohaus. Although he has extremely nice cars and gives great history about them, he tends to ramble on wayyy too much about the weather or birds. It's almost as if he's got ADD or something and can't simply ignore it.
Hey Anthony! I use to drool over these big sedans in the 80’s You mention the the GM ladder from Chevy to Caddy and by this time I really think Buick, Pontiac, Olds, and Chevy were all so similar in Ride, Quietness power. To me it was a matter of personal Taste but the 80’s. I bought new in 1981 the last Big Rear wheel drive Bonneville Coupe in Burgundy with the Landau Padded Vinyl top and Sport HoneyComb Wheels and thick whitewalls like this Olds. What a Pretty car with the Crushed Velour that Sparkled and had the same high pillow design with 6 biscuit pattern on the seats. My Boss wanted to buy the car from me. LOL
That velour fabric was spectacular! And I know the exact Bonneville coupe that you had. A triple black one used to drive past my house every morning while I was waiting for the school bus in the early to mid 1980s. It had fender skirts, if I recall correctly. You didn’t see many of them on the road.
Thats Exactly Right! I never seen another coupe with the Brougham Package. I went to the dealer ship to compare the Grand Prix, with the Cutlass, I was trading in my 1980 Cougar XR-7 less then a year old. After the test drive of the Grand Prix the sales man took me outback to show me the car I fell in love with still on the racks of the car hauler still covered with Styrofoam. And plastic. As soon as I seen for just a little more money I coupe be driving that ( at age 19) I was over excited to get that car down and as soon as I checked the car out compared to the Grand Prix Everything was Nicer. Now, I felt I had stepped up. $13,500 back in 1981. My New Cougar sticker was under $10K and nothing more than a gussied up Fairmont. I was 18 and my first new car so I was talked into that dealer Demo with 5500 miles. I got $2700 off sticker. Back then Interest Rates were 13% and in 1981 16.99% I still remember the payment $276.52. Times that by 3 in todays money.
@@gene978 That’s a great story! It’s a shame GM no longer makes any attractive cars. Or I should say that I personally don’t find any of them attractive. My favorites will always be the full size rear drive 2 door models. 1980 and up, until GM came out with the almost ridiculous looking “full size” front wheel drive cars in 1985. I was especially turned off by the 1989 and up front wheel drive Cadillac Coupe DeVille. Every one I ever saw, without exception, had a wave in the sheet metal just below the beltline, between the B pillar and C pillar, on both sides! Was I the only person bothered by this? How could GM knowingly produce new 2 door Cadillacs with such a defect? Were Cadillac buyers, at the time, blind to this defect?
@@CH67guy1 I agree 100% I think the mid 80’s to late 90’s was huge experimintation while trying to comply with new Federal Mandates, figuring out what consumers wanted and because of this the defects in workmanship, dependability, all were rushed out because Money. I hated the FWD 80’s Caddy’s. I seen them everywhere. I would take a Crown Vic, Marquis, Caprice anyday before that Caddy. UGLY! I now drive a pretty good looking Deep Red 2017 Impala and I do love the room, ride, handling, power, Luggage Space, and even the MPG is much improved at 35 hwy and 23 city. Cars go many more miles then they use to. 4 years old and not a whisper of trouble (knock on wood) Chain the oil, and rotate tires, and keep it clean!
@@gene978 I have to admit that GM nailed the styling perfectly on that Chevy Impala that you have. And I’d consider buying one, but I hear the depreciation is among the worst of any new car in the United States. I recently saw the new Chevy Blazer and absolutely love the fresh new styling. But my other half doesn’t care for it at all. In my dream life I’d live in a walkable urban area and not even have a car. As I get older I no longer like driving. Grocery store and back, about 6 miles round trip, is about as far as I want to go. I never calculated exactly, but I bet I’d save at least $1,000 per month not having a car. Used to have 3 on the road, then 2, and now just 1. Today I can afford just about any car I want, but today’s new cars simply don’t excite me any more. However, I always have my eyes open for nice 30, 40, and 50 year old cars that I salivated over when I was younger. And from time to time I buy one of these vintage cars and use it as a daily driver. But keeping even my 1994 Cadillac in good repair and dependable can be a bit challenging, even for me, a trained aviation mechanic and a person who started worked on cars with my dad about the time I went off to kindergarten. I don’t enjoy tinkering on cars anymore. So my 1994 Cadillac is sitting in my garage with a transmission problem and my daily driver is a super boring but super dependable 2016 Toyota Camry.

I had a 1974 Buick Electra 225
3 decades ago. I miss those big beautiful GM cars...
Anthony. Bill is affiliated with Auto Hause of Naples or curious cars Great guy like you who really know his craft.

@@bruschmidt9943 yea that’s for sure. I have to fast forward 15 minutes from the start of his video to get to the car stuff. Lol 😝

This body style of the Oldsmobile 98 is so elegant and classy! Beautiful color combination and very clean.
Those days are long gone?! I guess you haven't been to a car show lately?!
Yep those days are long gone when those cars were new and we were young and full of lust for them!!!
Bill getting mentioned is awesome. Love both you guys...
Shout out to Bill... The greatest "sigh" on UA-cam.
Wow. What a beautiful looking car. There's nothing like those pillow top seats. 👍🏾👍🏾🔥
I like that better than some Cadillacs the leather interior is rare in a olds it's stunning !!
"The Olds 98 was the smart man's Cadillac" The Regency's interior was better than the Cadillac SDV or Electra. You had to order the Cadillac de Elegence package to rival it. and the Regency Brougham's was nice too. One of my folk's 98 had a tissue holder in the back seat, another had a clock...Their last 98 was an 1984, it was beautiful,
The neighborhood I lived in when I was in my early teens loved Olds. The were a couple of these. Nostalgia! ❤️
I converted a 83 Olds 98 Regency Brougham from diesel to an Olds 350 in the early 90’s. Man did that car run like a devil with the lower diesel rear end gears. These cars were just as nice as Caddies of the same year in my opinion.
Essentially the same build as the big Cadillac, though different mechanicals, but I like them better than the Cadillacs.
Damn Mike, real sorry to hear about that; straight up
Wish they still made cars like this
I inherited my grandfathers when I was 19 back in the 80s sweet car made me feel rich as a teenager😂. Ran greater until a sherif deputy hit me and totaled the car. Mine was gray and maroon with maroon interior.
You finally put it up for sale!! Congrats Anthony - I know it will sell today, many have been waiting for this moment! 😂
Olds are still my faves and this one is a beauty! 👀
Thanks for not rambling on and on and on about the weather !!!
Those leather seats are in perfect condition!!!
Chips in paint would have been easily resolve with dr color chip on deck lid
Wow.... I had 2 of these back in the day. A 1980 and then an 84. Loved this car! A sailboat on wheels.. The only drawback was the 307 V8 which was vastly underpowered for a heavy beast of this size..... Still beautiful!
The 1980 should of had the 350 V-8.
Another sweet car Tony !!! Man I love the old square body Buick’s
@@cheapcigs9772 do you spend your time spell checking comments? There are doctors that treat OCd see that was on purpose lol
Yep. And Buick opted not to use them. So there was a lot of distinguishing characteristics among the three.
My parents had one just like this except theirs was blue with black top . It was such a comfortable car I loved that car I really did !
Nice, I have a 1983 Oldsmobile 98 Regency Brougham
I have a feeling my babies are gonna wind up in the same way when I go 😔 ☹️
This car is a real beaut! It screams luxury.
Just beautiful😊 had a '98 Regency built September '97, no comparison, the Ninety Eight/Regency & Toronado are Oldsmobile's 2 best models in my opinion, currently own a '66😃
You mentioned Bill from Curious Cars. I watch him too!
Nice! I had a nice '83 with moon roof and opera lights back in the '90s. It was a great car!
Wow! Haven't seen one of these in so long, especially in pristine condition. Still don't know how you do it 👍👌
Love this car!
If you ever want to make leather soft and supple, buy a tin of lithium leather love. Excellent product! Best I've ever used! You will be amazed!
Thanks John ...just ordered some Lith leather love for my 79 New Yorker!
if leather needs to be cleaned, melt a bar of dove soap in water for a few days, and use the mushy soap and water it to clean the leather. be sure to use a white wash cloth, and make sure not too much color is coming off
@@davidjames666 Hopefully NO color comes off. Lol
The car is beautiful, I am sure Anthony has check this car from top to bottom and replaced all maintenance items. This is a great price for this blast from the past.
I love these Oldsmobiles !!!
love it I had a black 2 door back in the day
This is a good-looking car. I'm not a fan of white, but this color combo is stunning. This car is immaculate.
What a find! Great job, Anthony!
The white wall tires are Awesome
Best riding vehicle ever made . My dad owned four of them and they were his favorite.
Love you and Bill both. Love watching you both.
I could never forget about a car like this. Beautiful, always loved the taillights. 😘👌
I love that interior
I hop you have it now this nice car ???
@@julien23lastchristmas2 - No - someone else bought it before I contacted Anthony.

Very nice Olds with a beautiful attractive interior which I miss so much in contemporary cars.
So my 1994 Cadillac is sitting in my garage with a transmission problem and my daily driver is a super boring but super dependable 2016 Toyota Camry.
anthony, jim here from so.cal. the olds is a nice looking automobile and a great road car also.someone took great care of it.always liked the olds regency.would love to get in that olds and head to calif. and last stop would be my garage! real glass headlights.an anemic engine but will still cruise all day at 80m.p.h. with no problem. still a beautiful ride.
Beautiful car! And an amazing job with the new vinyl on the roof!! Most would never notice that it had been replaced! Well worth replacing, cause it really makes the car pop!! 👍👍
Had one for two days. Somebody busted the small rear window. Got inside and jammed a large screw driver thru the steering column. Turned ignition and drove off. Took less than two minutes.

Wonderful automobile . Grew up on Oldsmobile cars . As nice as the 98 was . It kind of suffered from a identity crisis .
I’ve always loved the shape of this car, the curved hood especially!
My dad had this model back in 1981 but was a Regency Brougham, car that I learned to drive, was an awesome car
