We just found something that has got us really excited in our Drift mine and Yeah your'e gonna get wet !!!!! We can't wait to continue dropping the shaft to find out what we got , hopefully it will lead us to a subterranean system of caves that take us to the River of Gold ....YEHAAAAAAW !
Whoo doggy! Thats some exciting stuff you found down there! Stay safe my friend! ✌️✌️
You got to china yet with all that digging?!
What's KoKoweef? Chocolate covered pot. 😄 🤣 😂 😆
Im glad drilling on an angle helped! Tnt much better for sure. Glad you got thru it either way!
Exciting stuff! I can barely keep my pants on! 🤠
You know Jeff we did a job in Sedona and an old miner stopped by and showed us how to break basalt. With water and a 22 shell. We drilled a 1 inch hole 3 feet deep filled it with water. Then he put this 22 barrel in the hole.it had a firing pin on the top. You smack the firing pin and it explodes the water. Water can't be compressed so it cracks the rock. It was the easiest way to blast rock I ever seen. Hope this helps.
While you've been sleeping I've been digging is by far the best thing you've ever said!
hahhahhahaha
@@Askjeffwilliams put it on a shirt and send me one. I'll wear the heck out of it.
I told you Chris - dynamite is the way to go
Hello from Virginia
I've been digging gold since the '70s out here we were raised in the gravel pit.
I know what you talking about that red clay.
You had a very good smooth & rhythmic motion going on with that lil shovel. No wasted energy, a very efficient mechanical stroke going on there. Well done.
Three tons of nature's cement and a pocket full of red clay for some "miner's remorse". I admire your tenacious nature with each additional video.
....but there WAS gold in it!! didnt get skunk'd on it!! and the mother lode is JUST below all that!!!
w000000000000000t!!!!
Congratulations to the max, Jeff! All the work paid off as you knew it would 👏👏👍
thanks
Just an awesome educator thanks
Remorse you can feel in your bones, I can watch you work and never break a sweat.
Hey Jeff!👍👍 For panning in cold or even ice water, get an old-fashioned pair of fireman’s gloves; they soak through immediately, but they don’t allow the water in the gloves to be exchanged, so once your hands warm them up, they stay warm. I had a pair and panned Clear Creek in CO for five hours in the middle of winter without freezing my fingers off!
Great idea
Really interesting to see how important drilling at angles is, using spacing and giving material space to break out. Incredibly brutal work removing muck!! Bless those old timers. They must have loved Dynomite!
yes it was good and bad as it would give really bad headaches from the fumes ( Nitro - based )
Jeff you need an industrial vacuum system. Yep I use to do industrial sandblasting in huge tunnels. We had a 3 ton diesel powered centrifical vacuum with a 8 inch vacuum hose. It would move more sand and rocks than you can imagine. No more shoveling so much faster. Of course big stuff still needs to be hauled out
I have done it In Alaska ...Petersville Mining district 2017 the state was on fire 4th july weekend so we head up to Petersville to the recreational area five 5 gallon buckettes run through a slucice box. ended up with five grams of flower gold ... Under the tree of gold. Stroke & Jim ... the water was so warm i swam all weekend .
Hello Jeff, I watched this most recent video multiple times and it gets more suspenseful each time. I can't wait for the next update and really enjoy the entire process. Go for the GOLD!!!! 👍
Awesome, thank you!
Yeah I have to say Jeff, the sense of excitement and discovery being alongside you in the development of your drift mine is exciting enough, let alone these moments of striking upon decent sign, here's to hoping for the motherlode . Three ton! That's some serious density, serious hard Yakka. Looking forward to the next episode already, cheers. All the best from here on the West Coast side of Australia, ok, I'm saddled up and ready to go,, top stuff 👍
thanks Avon, we are really excited about this latest find ...the rule of thumb is when rock is removed it increases it's volume by 30% at minimum www.engineeringtoolbox.com/soil-rock-bulking-factor-d_1557.html. thanks
@@Askjeffwilliams wow that’s fascinating I never knew that but it makes sense? Is it cause of the pressure it’s under while under ground? Or various reasons? I’ll read that link maybe that’ll tell me
@@Askjeffwilliams My mind has just been blown after clicking on that link. Quartz swells 75-80%? Is it just the porous quartz vein material that swells, or does that mean larger quartz crystals also swell?
@@Askjeffwilliams i never heard that the volume increases by 30 %. Ive dug some trenches and holes and always have been amazed by how much comes from a hole! 2 inches down is a mile!.
I myself was in gold Colorado on the river digging for gold got down to the bed rock and every day the dirt was rusty red with back sand and gold ! The old timer told me when the dirt is red then you fine gold and I myself was finding nickel nuggets in my gold pan !
thats great
What about radio spectrometry? Like a tuning fork causes another to resonate in sympathy with another we can resonate a gold deposit then listen for the sympathetic response. It can be done with any meterial we use it mainly to find oil. I hear it was how auto tune was discovered for music production.
You've been busy busy busy!!! Awesome progress on the shaft. And so cool to see you were right on the money. Can't wait to see it drop down more and what comes out of it. Years and years of work paying off.
like a little Beaver ....thanks ....really appreciate that
One day he'll be able to tell people that he has a big shift! 🤣
Always enjoy watching your channel. Crazy fun is what it is. Keep on digging it, Jeff!!
Bring the Gold Home sonny Jim.
The Worm People are going to be pissed at you Sonny Jim! Keep up the great work and I hope you hit a seam of Gold that blows your mind.
Yeah let's gooooo.;)
"Woooooo"!!!!!!!
Love the content, glad to see you’re doing what you love. I’m in the stands watching others do what they love while I work a 9-5 that takes a piece of my soul everyday. I need to find what I love doing
Another good lesson, Jeff. Thanks! I’d be happy to see that in one pan. C’mon, let’s go!!!
I really like that you explain that every day is not a good dance day
Loving the videos. So cool to see how hard you are working. Bless you for the entertainment and hard dedicated work ❤️ from Indiana
Thank you so much!!
Oh man, you are living the dream! I'll tell you what. I promise to get thoroughly excited on your behalf about the wee bits of gold if I'm ever lucky enough to have an opportunity to do a little diggin' in your gold mine.
Hard labor, panning, blowing stuff up, and finding gold. What more could one need/want in life? Perhaps, a bit of smelting. Ya, I've smelted and it was awesome. Mmmmmmmm.... blinding, white-hot fire. Mmmmmmm... wistful visions of Hank Chapman. Nothing like the smell of burning manganese dioxide first thing in the morning. Goes great with scones and coffee.
and Beans
@@Askjeffwilliams Of course! Beans are like oxygen... well, like some type of gaseous vapor. ... and an important element of the best movie ever made, Delicatessen! Damn, that's a great cannibalism movie, even better than Motel Hell.
Always ready for some shiny
You're getting close to finding that river of gold, Jeff! AND you managed to punch thru that caliche bed, that's a relief. When dealing with something as hard as caliche, explosives is the way to do it, not that Dexpan. Not only are you finding gold, you're peeling back layers of the geological history your mine is in! Looking forward to more videos, Jeff, as always!
thanks
Your an inspiration Jeff! And a true savage! Best content on UA-cam by a LONGSHOT!
thanks Alex
U really are Jeff. Your a hard working person who is trustworthy. That says alot being your a gold miner! Life is a dream we live. Dream well and your life will more than u could have ever dreamed possible. Imagination is a preview of upcoming events. Think Einstein said something like that. I gonna tell you something. Dont let your head get all huge. You are a man who keeps the dream alive. Its what made this country. You help others by giving them a dream back. The dream of adventure and purpose. Yes the gold is great too but you my friend are better than gold. And yes i your head is gonna get big ! Thank you for keeping Americas dream alive.
Hey, Jeff, you have the best videos out there. Been watching you for a few years now. I saw you randomly on a T.V. show last night about a mysterious orb/ball. Got super excited!
yep thats me ....we have a lot of new shows coming out on History Channel in March
I remember the first vid I watched of "Ask Jeff Williams"...How to change a radiator in a 2004 Jeep....well, I clicked on several of the other vids Jeff had and got hooked watching though the years. My wife saying...how can you watch that guy, he's crazy. Well, who's the crazy one now??!! You have come a long way my friend. Great vid...and thanks for all the entertainment and serious knowledge and bringing us along for these adventures, I know it's a lot of work...in the mine and making and editing the vids.
thanks for sticking around all these years and really appreciate that
You are on it now! Just get to blastin Sonny Jim!! The weef is waitin!!🤠👍⛏️🎧
Another fantastic, informative video Jeff. I can feel the good vibes coming through the screen about that mine & the "sump?/shaft your drilling down. I think your videos also show how much hard work is required in a one man/ woman (your better half 🙆) mining venture. Oh bugger I just got a cold 🥶 chill down my spine ,🦴💀, sorry Slim I'm sure your there waiting for ancestral fossils to turn up !!!
I love the way the mine is always looking like you have been working out l just think you should be a miner because you do such a good job 👍
Always the BEST Sonny Jeff! Make your Papa Proud! Enjoy!
Thanks
I’m glad I found Ole Jeff, it would be awesome to be able to do what this man does and know all of what he knows about it!
Great update Jeff! Can you provide a map to illustrate the inner workings, since the mine has grown so much it would really help to get a perspective of the work that has been done and possible future of the mine?
you betcha we can do that
Great idea!
I saw a semi recent mine video that they showed in a museum, old miners had a 3 dimensional model of the expansive tunneling system. Was made of glass pane layers and black pigment arranged in a 3d matrix. The mayor of the town gave the tour, cant remember the town name. He was a real cool guy. Neways we could 3d print a model of the mine as Jeff progresses. That would be sick! 🤙🇺🇸
Jeff you’re an inspiration. I currently live in Manhattan and because of your videos I’ve been looking into buying or leasing a claim of my own and moving out west. I’m only 24 and so much to learn but your videos are so educational and entertaining. Much love Jeff!
Thats great ....Go for it! you will love it
Man that’s some exciting stuff! Good for you
Get that GOLD! Love you Jeff
every time i watch your video's, it just blows my mind. you have all the modern tools to dig through that rock following, searching for that rich vein. the miners 150 years ago were a special breed of men. imean you are busting a nut doing what you do. what a life those miners had working a claim for years, only to not find the mother lode. i couldn't do that today. if i were 30 years younger, yup, i would be a work-aholic. i just know your going to hit one heck of a vein. it runs through your veins. it's the fever!!! until next episode.
thanks David
Those old timey miners didn't have the equipment and power tools we have today however the easily accessable veins were still present and the rivers full of gold washed downstream into pots and what not. Often they found nuggets in even small streams. Today you'll get maybe a few tiny grains or flakes from steam panning. A far cry from nuggets as big as your fingers or hands waiting to be plucked out. Who had it easier?? I'll take easy gold and bad tools long before good tools and 10000 tons of overburden for "ore" that yields an ounce per 5 tons. That's a LOT of work for a grand or so. It's also a lot harder for anyone but the biggest of miners to meet the investment required for profit. Maybe it's nostalgia but I'll take 1848 over now for gold. Esp because i live in the American west. If y'all have 10-500 million in heavy equipment maybe you'll decide different. I'll tell you honestly that one mine company in South Africa has the second most heavy equipment in the world. (US army has the most) (they're diamond miners but the point is the same although diamond allows for the even higher investment costs to be recouped.)
@@tbonemaloneandthetraileres4468 i don't believe any one made their fortune from placer mining. which my understanding is stream panning. some figured it out and dug into the hills, and rock. granted not everyone had the ability, or funds to start hard rock mining. and i believe to this day, you can still find nuggets in streams, you just have to DIG deeper, and know what Jeff knows to have the best chance.
Hey Jeff, I have a question related to blasting. If after you drilled down, you put water in the bore holes and then detonated your charge, would it be more efficient? I seem to remember shock waves in water can be really nasty. (Operation crossroads comes to mind.)
Pretty sure that would have a lot of 'it depends' attached to the answer. First on the ground conditions and second on the type of explosive used.
It probably depends on the charge. Some explosives like anfo usually don't work that well when wet beacuse it deteriorates and some others float which is not good at all.
One more comment. Just to the algorithm.
Honest Gold, legal hard work, security technics, knowhow, experience, geological theory, humor, helps people, underrated UA-camr. Everyone must see!
thanks and yes the Algorithm is always watching
Outstanding Sunny Jim! Come-on! Let’s goooooo!
Thanks Jeff, Its great when you explain the geology and your thought process with us newbies its teaching me a lot. Question on the blasting what does it take to blast your own holes ? Do you need some kind of license ? Or once you get the explosives delivered to the site can anyone blast ?
yep you gotta be licensed
@@Askjeffwilliams love your geology , as a Cornish pasty bitch cunt I appreciate your real talk. Sorry long time lurker and I love your tempo , but dude you're not going to break through because of stupid algorithms.. and aforementioned real talk.. you pan like a pro... I wish you could've got a spin off show for Rick Ness lol teach him how to mine. Placer
I've been drinking alone.. good job man, I'll come dig your hole for cheap.. like a Chinese miner ... Just kidding I have a labor lawyer.
Well, the Dexpan sure has its place. The application of Dexpan seems to be good when you dont want any noise or shockwaves going on. Quiet...
I like blasting, but you need to have some active ventilation system if you want the smoke and dust to clear fast. Respirators are always the way to go.
The geology is a wild guess if you did not do any sample drilling. I think it is experience that got you on the right track as well as the other methods you showed on the channel, like chasing the gold up the mountain up the natural streams going down it. If you know what to look for it is a big plus.
Are you going to make coredrillings too? Or is it too expensive? Too small scale? Is it lucrative to drill into all sides and pick the best side? Or is it just a nugget mine, and is the small gold not worth it really?
Maybe a "drilling jumbo" is a thing, that way you dont have to do all the a hard labor. So you dont wear down as fast. :) And it should go faster too.
I still think your channel is one of the best on youtube. It is really interesting to me. I like underground and tunnels a lot. In fact, i like it so much that i scanned another book, that was hard to find on the internet: "Earth Tunneling, with Steel Supports, by Proctor & White". I burrowed it from a technical library and scanned it with my new flatbed scanner. Also worried to get every last bit of text scanned right so you can search through the document with "ctrl+f". It should be the best book out there on the subject. A lot of other tunneling books reference to it.
Keep up the good work!
Greetings,
Jeff
thanks
outstanding, keep'er coming Jeff!
“ Cause if there’s more gold down here to be had, i’ll be living down here” I’m still laughing 😂 😂
Jeff, awesome setup and operation, you make looking for gold fun!
That pan was amazing for one pan. Still a lot of gold there. Yukon Miner’s would be doing the gold dance!
we are still doing the Dance
Not a lot of Gold in the pan, but that was just a shovel full. Looking forward to blasting!!
Excellent and another outstanding video. Happy to see the Ranch Style Beans on the shelf too. Oh.... That feeling of instant burn when the fingers hit the water, nothing like it. That solo mining is tough sometimes and some times real tough but the fun and the stories most will never know.
Thanks again Jeff.
thanks Lynn..... I know...right ...not even cold ....feel the Burn baby.... exactly and you betcha
great video Jeff, great how your showing your advancement, the geologic profile and how it applies in your mine! fantastic.
Glad you enjoyed it

You always do a great job on showing us what you are doing there,to me it's very interesting. 👍👌
I love your videos they have helped me through some tough times. you are a GOOD man

Always enjoy your segments Jeff, looking forward to the next.
Cool, hope ya find that river of gold! Cannot wait till it warms up here...
Jeff you the Man ! Oh you Live the Life Brother!
No bad sign for such a small sample. So com'on! Let's GO!! ;D
Well another great caliche blast. A little gold is better than no gold. The drift is coming along and the shaft too. U so funny Jeff.
Well Jeff, we got there! I love hard work, I can sit here watching it all day, specially when there's some shiney at the end!
That was a great pan Jeff.
I just find what you are doing to be very interesting and well worth a watch on a cold February's evening. Cheers Buddy.
You're living my dream. Enjoy it my friend.
I like the looks of that new color as well, and I just hope it pans out with even more gold the deeper you go.
Hope you enjoy looking around my stomping ground
as I own one of the last Kokoweef grandfathered mining claims since 1990.
I am most likely one of the last prospectors who knows where D orrs other entrance
is located which he saw in the roof of the cavern, would take a massive undertaking to reach
the small opening from the cavern floor, When I realized where I was standing, I hid it with rocks so no one would fall in, much rugged terrain to get there, I would have explored it more, but I ran out of health and age, as I am now 80 years , doc.
thats great ....would love to hear more ....we have seen Kemosabe
Thanks for sharing awesome as alway's Jeff! I've just been in streams i bet that is fun...keep it coming brother!!!
Makes me want to live closer so I could lend a hand. (Retired with nothing else to do) Keep it up!
Hi Jeff. Mining for 8 years + Dexpan or Bentonmite. Works very well it you have a ledge for it to work on. This is what I had mentioned to you before. Have to have a deeper pit and use it on a free face wall where you get on a ledge. Drilling down. 1"/ 3/8" no bigger. It tempeture is right it will work over night. If cool will take a couple of days to a week to do it's stuff. When I mined. I would expose the vein and take all the cap stone off of it. First. Then drill holes vertically down ward 4" to 6' feet down. Drop a thermomiter down hole with string attached. bring up and check that it was in the temp. Range. And mix and pour. Have to have a pit and free face. Meaning that your not drilling into mass material like your first attempt. In your situation. It is best you drill in the proper pattern and blast with the big D. And half of a stick. In each hole. Then get your self a Industrial Jaw Crusher and Mill and that would be most entertaining to all !! Love you Man..."Lets GO" !!!! Sincerely. Erik. The Lion's Den Mine. Morgan Hill, Ca.
thanks for the tips and we will do that
I had a crappie job cleaning Red Bricks.
I would boil up some and added to the cold. Made it bearable.
Congrats, good to see the work paying off. Great work on the video/editing too man.
>Smashed that button.
thanks
Ya wanna know what I think? I think you’ve got the best gig out there, because you’ve studied hard, worked hard and are so much fun to watch! May the Lord watch over you during all your wild adventures. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and enjoyment with us, Jeff!

I truly appreciate and enjoy all of your videos my friend.
Jeff you have to buy you a stinger. A water heating coil for livestock. Plug it in and it will be warm in 20 minutes. Just be careful. They get HOT QUICK
Are you going to send any of those gravels off for further study to help improve geologic understanding of the time period?
we have thought about that but worried at the same time if ya know what I mean
Always love to see you working Drift Mine. Keep up the good work.
It's really coming together!
