  • Sid Vicious recalls being confused when WCW booked Kevin Sullivan asked him to lose clean to Chris Benoit. Full shoot ➤ TitleMatchNetwo...
    Produced, licensed & distributed by Title Match Media LLC. Enjoy the full Sid Vicious shoot interview on our streaming subscription service, TitleMatchNetwo....
    Title Match Media LLC digitally remastered the original raw footage, including color correction and advanced audio editing specifically for this UA-cam release.
    This interview was conducted just one month prior to the Chris Benoit murders.
    At this point in his career, Sid Vicious is a 2x Wrestlemania headliner, 2x WWE World Champion & 2x WCW Champion. Before WCW went out of business, booker Kevin Sullivan approached the 6'9 Sid with the idea of losing clean to 5'9 Chris Benoit.
    Sid recalls being hesitant and confused over this because Chris Benoit was part of a backstage effort to oust Kevin Sullivan as booker in exchange for the return of Vince Russo. Not only that but Chris Benoit was also already talking about leaving WCW to head for WWE. Find out why Sid wasn't thrilled with the idea of losing to Benoit in the first place.

    The more I listen to Sid's shoots I realize he actually had/has a good mind for the business in the way of entertainment, storylines and booking especially for big guys literally and star wise. He may not be a technical master of ring work and psychology but he seems to get how to tell an overall story. He and someone like Jim Cornette, Scott Hall, and a Dusty Rhodes would make for a great creative team I think. That stuff he says at the end about Sullivan sounds simple but I get what he means.

    Russo should never have been fired. He got all of three months to bail out a sinking ship and then he's out?
    (For the record, ratings did slightly improve, which is about all you can do with how little time he had)
    Meanwhile, Sullivan was one of the people at the helm when it started sinking in the first place.
    I hope 'protecting their spots' was worth tanking the only viable competition the WWF has ever had.

    • @aetherbeast1023
      @aetherbeast1023 4 роки тому +1

      WCW was kicking WWF Ass before Russo arrived. From what everyone indicates, Russo's booking is what threw WCW into the trash bin. It might have headed that direction anyways before he arrived, and Sullivan probably didnt help things because of the shit between himself and Benoit. Other shoots indicated storylines going all over the place, NWO became bloated and obsolete. Frankly, I agree with Cornette here. Russo is OK if you want a guy to give you suggestions and new ideas. But to book a PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING show, you have to have a Wrestling booker. The Story lines have to make sense. Not everything being a "Swerve bro" is good for storytelling, neither is just having a diva go out and expose her tits is "good for ratings". Sure it leads to a spike in ratings temporarily, but to keep the audience you have to tell a good story. Russo couldnt do that.

Supposedly his contract was about to expire, literally the day after that PPV, and in his contract they had guaranteed him title run.
