If Pop Food is like a nice refreshing soda, HiLo is like a nicely fermented and aged wine! And Micropop…. it’s what 5 year olds do when they get curious and mix every drink they have available (I love it for that!).

Pizza boy, similar to John and Nancy, is a song that pays homage to someone but isn't really about them. The song itself is about capitalism, and forcing yourself to work to the bone in order to afford basic necessities for your family or even pay for essential medical care. "Pay to keep your folks alive" always hits me so hard.

For the next album in the Jack Stauber line-up, you should listen to his debut album, Finite Form. The last track of the album connects to his second album in an indirect way, and I think it's better to have the connection and first album in mind before listening to the second.

Honestly, I kind of felt Pad Thai was like one of those people who says they're doing something to try and start a relationship, like a guy is trying to be obvious and ask out their crush and prove they're not afraid, but in reality they are afraid of losing this person and they won't admit it. Bc of the "Saddening, nothing's really happening" the chorus is like them admitting to themselves that they aren't progressing, and the verses "I'm not afraid to play dumb, etc." are when they're in denial. Sorry for typing so much, lol

Interesting reaction because Databend is by far my favorite song on this album. It’s has such a nice 80s vibe to it. Reminds me of New Order.

You should check out his stuff from micro pop. He takes the little clips from his UA-cam and turns them into full length songs. In my opinion it’s his best work.

@@drowned_fish4 I definitely wanna check out Micropop. I know he’s extended a _few_ tracks. Thinking of doing the entire Micropop album and implementing the extended versions.

I think this album is significantly different than Pop Food. I feel like this is Jack developing more of his own unique sound, and parts of it are a little too silly fot me, but that being said I don't think I find it as silly as you do. Beird is one of my least favorite tracks on the album, while O.U.R. is one of my favorites. My main issue with this album is that parts of it feel really "empty" sound-wise. Beird for example, I feel like theres just not as much happening as there should be. Maybe if the bass was bassier. Everything just feels too open. Thats why I like the noisier tracks like It's Alright, Pad Thai, O.U.R. and Pizza Boy, they feel full. I feel like Pop Food doesn't have that aspect in any song, not even Lynn.

I agree, HiLo is better than Pop food. Pop Food felt like he was testing the waters with a sound and HiLo felt like he was realizing it. I think Beird is my favorite because of the memories I have associated with it. For me, O.U.R. is the only song that is just too weird for it's own good, like it's trying too hard. The harder hitting noiser songs like It's Alright, Pad Thai and Pizza Boy are definite highlights. Glad they exist to break of the regular vibe of the album.

@@twovulareviewsBit of a late reply, but I actually much prefer Pop Food to HiLo. I typically prefer Jack's more "nostalgic" work nowadays, despite my love for everything after it and him really finding his style. Pop Food just has this more psychedelic sound to me that I really gravitate towards as opposed to his later sound that a lot of people probably call "weirdcore". Not to disrespect HiLo of course, the album's amazing. I guess I just prefer his simpler, less "refined" stuff.

Btw data bending is when a computer tries to run information that’s not an its programming so basically Jack Stauber is trying to help someone with their issues although he has his own issues that are completely different
