Zigzag Spike Puff Stitch | How to Crochet

- The Zigzag Spike Puff Stitch is such a neat stitch, especially when worked in multiple colours as I will in the tutorial below. The pattern creates a very thick fabric that is solid and the same on both sides.

I will be using a little bit of Pima Cotton Yarn by Lion Brand in three different colours. Here you will also see my using a 5 mm Birchwood crochet hook by Rowan Yarn.

So many options for this stitch - hot pads and pot holders, bags, coffee cozy, and even a toasty wool afghan.... very warm for this winter.
I see pot holders and a bag 🛍️ in my life with this pattern! Thank you so much for sharing this! 🧶 💕
I will use this for my next baby blanket!! Pink, blue, and white! Thank you!!

I love this stitch. Which texture would you recommend for a fingering weight yarn scarf? Any experience appreciated.

Could this be used for hats? It’s beautiful!
I know it will lose some of the beautifulness but can this be done in one color, one skein? 🤔
Would this work up nicely for a thick cowl?
I love puff stitches but they're yarn eaters. Beautiful stitch though!
Bellissimo punto, per fare una copertina per neonati, quanti grammi di lana occorrono, grazie
I was thinking im a hat, but my trouble is about increase or decrease, it depends on where I have to begin the work . 🤔
Is there a way to turn this into a hat?
Ok. I understand that you're using a cotton yarn. Is there a reason? Or is it doable for acrylic? Just wondering?
Hi Sandra! While I love the feeling on cotton (especially this Pima Cotton) I use it mostly in the stitches because it’s crisp and shows off the stitches so well :) I also love cotton because it’s hypoallergenic and renewable/natural (but will use acrylic for my blankets and you can certainly use it for this stitch :) )
