    I'm also a huge fan of the Bonaire Durango evaporative coolers. They easily pay for themselves in 2-3 months here in the southwest USA. I had to widen the bleed hose by drilling it a little wider, to avoid clogs with my hard water (the manual suggests this). And since then, it hasn't clogged the bleed tube once. A really great way to stay cool and save money and enjoy comfortable humidity levels in the desert :-)

    You showcased exactly what I was having a hard time finding. They call for 22"X22" opening and I'm at 21". Started sweating (pun intended) the fact that the ideal opening wasn't sufficient until you gave the neck dimensions. Much appreciated! Good video. Stay cool!

    I bought a Durango for my condo and then later for my home because the metal evaporative coolers rusted after about two years. The Durango cools extremely well and is reliable. It cools my whole house in a very short time. I purchased mine at Home Depot about two years ago. I would like the manufacturer to consider a colder weather cover for freezing temperatures as it is not hot only in Las Vegas, it is very hot here on the plains and very cold in the winter. My cooler is to large for me to take down in the winter time, so I have created an outside cover and and inside cover where the fan is installed in the wall. The room is now slightly cooler than the outside temps. I still like this unit and would recommend it.

    Does the Bonaire Druango 5900 come with a Purge Pump? I just bought one and during installation I noticed it did not have one. All videos on UA-cam and even our instructional manuel show a purge pump. I called the company and they said a purge pump is purchased separately but it is not nessesary. So is what the company told me true?

    • @vegasromaniac
      @vegasromaniac  4 роки тому +1

      Yes is true and no it doesn't come with one because it has a bleeder hose, with a little valve at the end, what this does is let's a little bit of water come out when the main pump runs so the hard mineral concentration in the swamp is kept at minimim, I use a log hose attached to it to water my garden, also I put an adjustable valve that only let's 2 gallons an hour out... So I don't waste

    I just bought the same unit, I installed it and it is spitting water out from the front vent. It doesn't matter what speed I put it on it still spits out a lot of water. I followed the instructions. I put a 2x6 on the outside secured it to the house then secured the unit using the 2 screws to the 2X6. I have tried everything I can think of to stop this from happening any can't figure it out. Any help would be appreciated. Also my interior water line doesn't have any cracks or leaks and the bleed nozzle works fine letting water out.

    • @vegasromaniac
      @vegasromaniac  5 років тому +1

      Is the interior black line connected to the basin on top? Also did you install the 12 screws that were supuse to keep the fan away from the main unit, when shipped the fan comes compressed in the package, you need to expand it. If the water travels on the pad, it will not be pulled in. I have 2 in my house also I have the portable unit all work great never had that issue

      Thanks for responding. Yes I installed all the screws and the black line is attached correctly and no leaks. I’m baffled it should be plug and play but my floor in my house needs to be mopped after about 5 minutes of operation. I’m also in Vegas

    • @Tom-qn5nd
      @Tom-qn5nd 5 років тому +3

      I figured out the problem. I posting this for other people who experience this same problem as me. Water spitting out the front vent can be caused by two things and possible others but I'll let you know what I did to fix my issue. Sometimes you might need to have the top of the cooler out about a 1/2 bubble on a level towards the outside at the top of the unit. Which I shimmed it out to achieve this, and if that doesn't fix the problem, take off the back cover so you have access to the filter and fill a spray bottle with white vinegar and spray the entire filter from both side with white vinegar. What this does is it opens the pores of the composite material which is wood based. When the units are made they can sit in a box in a warehouse or a store shelf until they are sold. I'm sure this can be weeks or even months until they are sold and installed. This can be long enough for the pores in the pads to close up tight. When this happens you end up with water spitting out into your home. I hope this helps anyone having this issue. @@vegasromaniac

    • @Tom-qn5nd
      @Tom-qn5nd 5 років тому +5

      I should have updated this about a month ago the fix was not the vinegar it was a defective pump. Hope this helps other people. The pump was putting out more volume of water than it was supposed to.
