You are 100% right. I started watching your videos this summer as I got back into golf after a 5 year break. Was shooting > 100, now in the 80s (have even shot 40 for 9 holes a couple times). I did it by listening to you: 1) leave the driver in the bag (I use it 0-3 times a round, depending on how I feel and the course). My friends are always jabbing me for hitting a 4-6 iron off the tee, but I can hit those pretty straight and 170-190 yards while they spend 1/2 the day searching in the woods. 2) give myself a comfortable distance to the hole. This means when I'm 240 yards from the hole, i hit a 9-iron, leaving a gap wedge in (again, friends don't get it). Also, I bought more wedges before anything else. 3) Aim away from trouble. 4) Get rid of the 3 putts. The difference for me shooting in the 80s or 90s now is how I did around the green.
Penalty strokes and 3 putts seem to eat up my score card. I watched this 6 part series for the first time this week and can't wait to put the principles into practice next round.
So true. I've realised I have so many misconceptions as a new golfer. I do some of what he says without realising and I think to myself, "wait, why are people NOT doing this?" but there are other parts that I haven't realised I'm _not_ doing
These videos have all been awesome but I really liked this one in particular. I am a beginner, and recently started hearing about strokes gained, which had me thinking my focus on the short game was misguided. Gonna get back to mainly focusing on short game and gradually increasing my skill with the full swing.
Great video Matt! I used to be terrified at bunkers and always get into them. Now I’m able to consistently get out of bunkers in one shot with your videos on bunker shots and started to get comfortable hitting it into bunkers to avoid hazards. I then noticed that I now go into the bunkers less frequently. Kinda miss the sand now! :)
I have only ever played on a Par 3 9 hole course for fear of the longer pars, but I am loving this series. I have crunched the numbers on my local course and plotted where I can make the new GIR and it looks so doable when you break it down like that. I am looking to have a go at a range to decide which club to use and practice my short game to increase the likelihood of the 2 putt, and then I will give it a go! Imagine breaking 100 on my first ever full 18. Whaddafeeling, Whaddamindset, Whaddaplaya!
@Golf Sidekick just letting you know that your system helped me break 100 for the first time a few weeks ago. Shot 97. I then played a competition using the same method, shot 96 and won the competition with 41 points based off my handicap. (Shot 5 under my handicap 😁) So thank you so much. I'm looking at breaking the 100 more consistently before I watch the Break 90 Series 😉
Love your videos. I’m breaking 100 now as it is just not consistently. I’m gonna take this and incorporate it to my golf game to see how quickly I can be consistent with my score
I watched the 4 videos, coincidence or not, I played handicap 27 today. (winter tees, so playing handicap 20 on par 72) Nice tips to play with your 'own par'.
Great advice bro. I am sure, like everyone, they think that the range will eliminate the need for the short game, so I should spend all my time in that. Putting and short game is king, full swing is sometimes the court jester... next set of videos, play like a geezer! 170 down the middle, and they chip and putt like a baus. That's how you score!
I spread the word of the playa to all my friends who are just getting into golf or have even been golfing for a while, but haven’t seemed to progress. I’m not going to lie, I used to be that guy who would just stand on the tee and try to smash driver as far as I could. And then I would lose 10+ balls a round and want to quit and take up pickle ball instead.
There is no hero shots, there are only stupid shots! There is no hero shots, there are only stupid shots! There is no hero shots, there are only stupid shots! There is no hero shots, there are only stupid shots! This needs to be my new meditation mantra. Lol
Flags not to scale “FOR THE KARENS OUT THERE” 😂😂😂 Anyway I’m a new player and your videos give great perspective on how to approach golf as a high handicap player. Cheers mate.

"golf is a game that tries to tempt you, not falling for the temptation is beginning to play golf" ----- WOW, great statement

I love that you don’t give us 100+ golfers false confidence, but you bring us back down to earth and encourage us to take realistic shots. I need this
The hardest part about all of this is thinking that you're better than the advice he's giving and realizing you are NOT lmao
It's called ego, very difficult for virtually everyone human to accept. Myself as well.
actually some of what hes saying is applicable no matter how good you are.
Everything is truth. This is the light

GIOTG...its Italian...LOL, that was really good
So good lol!!

"Hit it to Texas, it's big and conservative" dunno if this was an intentional political joke but, u right 😂
"and safe..."
Also a Texan and yeah I caught that too 😂
nothing on this channel is unintentional

I don't know how long this series has been out but " sidekick" this stuff makes total sense. Can't wait to play this way and improve. BRILLIANT.
"It's an Italian word, okay? Gi-oh-t-guh." I'm dead.
I always laugh and learn watching your videos. You’ve changed my game for the better and made golf enjoyable for me.
Preach, my brother. God damn you encourage me to love this game and your sermons have already improved my scores over the last year or so. GIOTG bene.
Thank you Master Instructor Playa’. I will implement your instructions. 2021 will be the year I break 💯.

So good!
You have to share how to use this system to break 90. Please. :)
will make breaking 90 system soon
@@GolfSidekick can't wait... That's where I am...! Altough it will be a lot similar in terms of practicing 1:2 range vs short game.
I will reconfigure my range time starting today. Well done!
With our social club at the end of the year we have a 3 clubs and a putter game I will be implementing this philosophy ASAP
LOVE your videos! Great relaxed vibe and awesome content!
Good morning baus. Thank you for the informative. Planting feathers to grow birdies and avoid the tuba.

Giotg - it's an Italian word.

I spread the word of the playa to all my friends who are just getting into golf or have even been golfing for a while, but haven’t seemed to progress.

This needs to be my new meditation mantra. Lol
Matt, when you say 150 club.. are you talking about carry or total distance?
Carry.
Amazing
6:39 is the most important visualization in the whole video

My grandfather is Italian, he confirmed giotg is a little used Italian word. 👍🏻

Flags not to scale “FOR THE KARENS OUT THERE” 😂😂😂 Anyway I’m a new player and your videos give great perspective on how to approach golf as a high handicap player. Cheers mate.

GIOTG strategy does not jive with 2 puts
Learn to putt
I there a Cliff Notes version of this system? No offence, but this video series has more sequels than Godzilla and is nearly as scary! 🐱🐉🐉🦎
Hat and sunglasses is very off putting. I get around 92 but this is still good advice.
