I will be putting up videos of me playing left handed too so that anyone poo-pooing any idea in this video will have to eat his words.
I will break 100 easily by following the exact same ideas in this video plus expanding out quickly as I begin to udnerstand my shots and my game.
There can no longer be a victim mindset when I go out there and play the wrong way round and break 100. If you watch 5-6 of my break 100 videos, you will break 100. If you think you cannot do it, it means you cannot.
First left handed video can be found here: {coming soon}

I really like that you’re honestly trying to help out high handicappers and average golfers, and not just trying to show off your baus skills.
Absolutely agree ! Like I’ve broken 90 and 80 but next time I go out I want to try this as a bit of fun.
Golf sidekicks motto should be “making golf great again “
Yeah he is a good vibe...very humble...great channel!
hit "RELIABLY in the DIRECTION you want to go" cannot be overstated enough.
For people worried about playing with strangers if you are still trying to break 100 - low handicaps don’t care how many times you hit. If you don’t rage when you hit bad, only take about 30 seconds to line up and hit your ball, and aren’t being super negative, I’m going to have a great round, and help you look for your ball in the trees.
Your baus system sounds like a great way for players to stay positive and adjust their expectations! A positive golfer is a golfer who is going to make good decisions and play well
Thank you for posting that. I have broken 100 a few times, but I always have to find a group of friends to play with because I don't want to be added in to a group of good players.
I never get upset playing golf. I think I might take one of those single tee times this weekend and just go out with a good attitude.
I am also very cognizant of my pace of play. I will pick up before I slow people down.
I modified the scorecard at my home course to reflect your strategy. I showed it to the club pro, and he loved it! Our course just opened for the season (I'm in New England), and I played my first nine of the season applying Matt's system. I used a 3-iron off the tee. EVERY tee ball was on the fairway, and I was able to get on the greens with the modified GIR. Putting sucked, though: too many 3-putts. I could have shaved 5 strokes had I putted better. This system ROCKS!
I broke 100 today for the first time with a 98. I started golfing a year ago, no lessons just YT. I still can't hit my driver but I don't need to as my 5W stays in play off the tee. Something just started clicking with my irons lately and I'm enjoying myself a lot more out on the course. I just wanted to say, thank you!
Congrats, you're on the right road! I am a senior, many years away from the game. Shot an 83 today on a 5,500 yard course, with no hits over about 190 yards. So it can be done.
For what it's worth, this is my best score since I got back to the game.
You don't have to hit it 250 yards, just keep the ball in play.
@@deanmccormick8070 Congrats on the 83, that is impressive to someone like myself. I play on a 9 hole course 3000 yard tees. My best 9 is a 46 while best 18 is 98. I don't care how far it goes as long as its in play.
I've started to break 100 regularly, and even shot a 91 in the late autumn. Your output was a big help,
Especially the 'your not good enough to get mad' vibe, gave this hacker some much needed perspective.
Thanks!
That’s actually dope dude I was stuck in the 97-105 range for a couple months to start my second year of golf and towards the end u shot my best score of 91 as well. This year I started to play each hole at 1 par extra and it’s helping me already ! On a short 27 par I shot 36 which is only 9 over on 9 holes. Some par’s some doubles but it gave me good confidential
This is all 100% true. I tried to break 100 for YEARS. Did the Golf Sidekick Way of the Playa and broke 100 almost immediately. This works, period. I am working on getting consistently under 100 (last round was 103), but I'm now shooting 18 hole rounds as low as 93 and 9 holes as low as 40. You can do this!
Dude is genuine… having been consistently in the low and below 90 in last 1 year after his break 90 legendary lecture (after only 2 years plus golfing)…. And I’m a short hitter (180-210 yards total driving distance)..
This is the only golf channel I follow for golf and life advice ! Realistic growth mindset attitude.
I don't know why I watched the whole thing. I'm a 4 hdcp so breaking 100 is never on my mind. But this thoughtful approach is really enjoyable. There's some application to everyone.
Right there with you. I'm around a 2 handicap and had an absolutely rotten day ball striking a couple of days ago and still shot 77. Yesterday started out rough and shot 5 over on the front 9. Followed that up by 4 under on the back 9. Staying in the right mindset and not letting a bad hole , or two, spiral out of control. These kids are great for everyone.
Shot 104 today, this was a perfect video for me. Thank you sir!
I love how he doesn’t mention the club used to get to his spot. Everyone is different. I finally have a confident 150 club. I am going to play a “driver free” round very soon. Not today. Happy Easter!
After watching his videos, I wonder why I have a driver at all.
Matty your putting tip "head down no peaking listen to the rattle" has been a HUGE help to me inside of ten feet. Thank you brotha
Just broke 100 first time last week! Super insightful video as I move onto my next goal, thank you
One of your best ones, Matt. Mimicking a high handicapper’s poor swing path made it seem more realistic. Well done.
Literally can’t wait for every episode. Whatever the skill set the video is aimed at there is always something to learn and takeaway. I’d love to do a subscriber round with you next time you in the UK. And thanks again!
Broke 100 for the first time today, these videos were clutch in giving me the confidence to get there
Congrats its a hell of a feeling I did it last week haha.
This is GOLD!!! Thank you for using REAL high handicap distances (150 MAX) to show how to break 100. I shoot anywhere from 102 to 116 so I'm hoping with these hints and strategies I can finally break 100. Thank you Playa!
Got it! shot a 98 today. Thanks to Matty Boom Boom! As I was working my way around the course I could hear Playa in my ear saying things like "Use your confidential club", "Play to Texas" and "Pitch & putt."
I’ve been watching GSK for years. The one issue I’ve always had with this channel is the fact that the system that Matt uses relies on the assumption that the player can make proper contact. “Just break the approach up into 2 shots”. Thats fine as long as the high handicapper can make solid contact with both wedge approach shots. “Just take an iron or a hybrid off the tee”. Well, there are no fairway finder clubs for high handicappers. They are just as likely to duff a 7 iron off the tee as a driver.
Need more videos like this where he takes duffs into consideration. I like it!
I’m doing it left handed soon so any bitches can stop bitching
Love it
@@GolfSidekickPlayas gonna play ...... just sayin

Confidentially, my confidence increased exponentially by watching this video.
The Baus showing us how the 'duff' shot can be our demise at the start is class golf teaching. 👍👍👍
> now the only thing you need to break 100 is a club that goes around 150 yards reliably in the direction that you intended to go
Hmm, perhaps I need the "how to break 120" video
As a senior golfer, I love your approach to playing golf within my known capabilities and building confidence from a sustainable and enjoyable level.
This is the guy giving great advice! Also knows that not "anyone" can hit their 7 iron 150 yards. Excellent!
Matty Boom Boom has transformed me from a bad golfer to a golf lover. I would have never discovered some of these tips on my own.
Not only am I close to breaking 90, but I plan my shots and enjoy the game even when I have a bad hole. Recognizing the little things matters:
Play to your shot shape. Texas. Toe down chip. Quit hitting and hoping for the green every approach. No Hero shots.
Thank you, Matty Playa. Cheers
Toe down chipping with a SW and PW!! I never considered this. Click, click, added to the arsenal. Thanks Baus!
Try it with an 8 iron. Get the ball rolling like a putt and you'll be amazed by how many you'll make. Get the shaft almost straight up and down , pick a landing spot and roll it in !
@@thomastrain7311 my go to is with 7 iron. I love the shot and use it every time I play. The 8 would be a little diffferent, so I'll definitely keep it in mind. Thanks Thomas!
@footbowl8939 7 is good too! I just switched to a new set of irons and I'm adjusting to the new lofts for those type shots. My titleist blades had a loft of 48° for pw. My 0311's pw is 42° so the number on the bottom of the club isn't as relevant as the actual style / type of shot these days.
I broke 100 for the first time last season following Matty Boom Boom's advice. I had only 1 or 2 pars and never hit a green in "pro regulation". But I managed the course to hit only comfy shots and had only 35 putts. If instead of practicing 4 foot putts and playing smart I would have spent all week ripping drivers at the range and going for it every hole, I'd have shot 120 easily.
There are only 2 people to allow in your head during a round of golf - Golf sidekick and Bob Rotella. Make everyone else stfu and you will reach your goals.
Matt is correct. I’m a 4 handicap, and whenever I play with someone who is less advanced in the game but they’re playing within themselves and only hitting shots they have some confidence in, I’m impressed and I think, “that’s good golf right there.” Plus, they keep up with pace of play because they spend most of the round in the fairway!
And I have a pretty good short game, but in the winter here in Tennessee with wet, tight lies of dormant Bermuda, I use the handle high, toe down chipping 95% of the time, even from 50 yards out or so. Many higher handicaps could save 5-10 strokes a round just doing it, versus thinning and fatting lob wedges all day. G I O T G !
Man I can attest to the brutal winter conditions, I'm not too far from you in s.w. va and play a lot in tenn. You definitely have to adjust when it's wet , dormant conditions.
Thanks! Picked up my clubs after 2 years of injury absence. Best piece of advice ever! Played a round of 9 last Friday, shot 49, so there is plenty of room for improvement, and this helps a lot. Love your vids, absolute money 😉. Cheers from The Netherlands 🙋🏾♂️
Been trying to break 100 for a while now! Followed this guidance, ditched many clubs from my bag. Hey presto, after a few weeks applying the principles I finally made 98! Now the tricky bit to keep following this up. Thanks
I’ve been playing for about 8 years .. a very questionable 22.4 Hcp … I’ve waiting to ‘get good’ before playing medals and comps (I’m still waiting!) - Why did I not discover you sooner?!!. You and Bob Rotella have changed my golfing mindset I’m getting the ‘confidentiality’ 😂 … thanks man 😊 ⛳️
Lol, I am an 85-90 guy, but I love watching you inform the public. And how are all of your haters not on tour, or at least working with the greatest minds in golf (HH)...awesome. Carry on mate. BTW, I have lived in Rayong (Ban Chang) for 15 years, who has it better than us!
"we have an entire galaxy to the left" had me on the floor
I'm working at it. I really appreciate that you show us that we don't have to swing that hard to do well, Matty!
I have been watching a lot of your excellent videos. You have really helped a golf moron like me think more about every shot. My home course has hardly any par 4’s reachable in 2, so now I play to reach in 3 and have a reasonable putt for par. My scores are going down. I like your videos as you have something for all handicap levels.
.
Playa i realized that if a moron like me could do it, any old moron could. We should start a religion and move to a specific state in the USA and establish our own rules. I think we’re should call it moronism
@@GolfSidekick Always finish your prayers with "money" :)
This is the best UA-cam golf channel
"far from those bunkers at that big ass tree" had me spitting out my drink. cheers man
Just turned 50 and had the best game of golf on a soaked golf course using your methods it would have been better if not for a couple of 3 putts.
Knowing your honest distances and using your confidential clubs is the key.
Many thanks
Thats the way playaaa
I have played with many people that use this type of strategy...and it is very effective....I am just getting back into golf due to a back injury that has kept me away for quite a few years...I am definitely going to use this as a way to ease myself back into the game. Great videos and very well explained.
I watched this video yesterday and tried it out today and shot a 99! Started playing again 2 months ago after a 10 year break from the game and I was struggling to get under 100 until I saw this yesterday it’s just makes the game so much easier thinking of a par 4 as a par 5 or 6.
Just started in July. Had gotten 100 twice but never broke it. Decided to give the way of the playa a real try. Put my driver in timeout since that’s a 10% club for me.
50 on the front, 47 on the back including 3 pars and a birdie on the 17th on a par 3 over water. Only lost one ball
The real thing that stuck out to me was just how much better of a result 2 pitching wedges is then a 4 hybrid and partial wedge / long chip. Free throw distances are a game changer
Thanks Baus, I’m in the cult now
I have made up a scoring card with this model and will use it every time I play now. Hole by hole aiming for the par 99 GIR finishing with a two put. I will use my 6 iron for the tee shots on every par 6 or 7 and 8 or 9 iron on the shorter original par 3's. Will be fun to see what this will do to my hcp 39,9. Wadda man you are, Matty!
😊Waiting to get over an injury and will be using these tips to get back in the game.
Thanks for the great advice.
I used the toe down stroke last week and I shot under 101! 😂⛳ Thanks for the tip.
I shot 94 today and I, subjectively, identified 15 shouts I couldn’t cut by playing some JOMO. Refuse to let the man get me down and tomorrow following the plays in chiefs blueprint. No ifs buts or coconuts.
Thanks for your videos Matty. I’ve been doing what you’ve said for 3 months and broke 100 for the first time last week (shot 94). Then shot 98 this week. Thanks girlfriend
I'm just starting to play golf again after a 10+ year hiatus. In the past 10 years, I might have played 5 times until the last month. I played SOOO bad the past few rounds, and I was very discouraged. I watched this video and a few others of yours and I took some notes on my phone. I went out this morning by myself and incorporated several of your suggestions: 1) I stopped trying to hit PGA shots and I focused on hitting to safe spots; 2) I reduced the clubs in my bag to 5w, 6i, 8i, PW, SW, and putter; 3) I tried to not "hit" the ball, I focused on swinging the club; 4) The decision box/execution box; 5) Titties to the target!
I didn't break 100 because my ball striking on the first 7-8 holes was horrendous and I 3-putted way too much. BUT, I figured out 3 things by the turn that helped my ball striking tremendously: 1) I swung the club closer to my body, 2) I straightened my left arm more and pulled it with my shoulder through the downswing, and 3) I started rotating my wrists more. After I got the feel for these 3 things, I was actually shaping the ball occasionally and it actually worked. Also at the beginning of my round the 6i was my 150 club, but by the back 9, my 8i was my 150 club.
I also figured out that I was better off using a 6 or 8 iron for chipping, leaving the wedges for longer shots. Anyway, thank you. I know I'm going to be breaking 100 soon.
I have been playing for 10 years and seldom break 100. Will give this advice a go and see how i get on. Sounds right.
😊
Moving forward one tee box and finding my confidentiality shots helped me real 100 for the last 2 rounds!
After watching your vid I went out and played went from shooting 100 to a 89 .I felt like I really good about my shots helped me realize I don't need to scold the shots
Awesome video and timely! I have yet to break 100 officially however I have high hopes of doing so soon. I broke it on a simulator during the offseason. I don’t count that but it was encouraging. Cheers!
My club opens may first. Hopefully you get to the breaking 90 and 80 before then 😊 last fall I was in the mid to high 80’s so I’m hoping to improve! Thanks for all your game improvement strategies baus!
I have used this system really takes the pressure off the game. I adjusted it to help play where I am and slowly cut strokes off my game.
My local is a PAR 65 so I did:
if index > 10 +1,
if index
you really do have the best course management videos.
Played yesterday and scored 94! Great video and even better advice.
These tips are gold. Put that driver away, in fact leave it at home. This is proper, no ego golf. Brilliant.
I have a cousin who plays off an honest scratch. He’s won some pretty big amateur tournaments.
This lines up with what he told me when I started golfing. He said “you might never hit your irons like me, but you can chip and putt like me and you’ll never worry about looking dumb on the golf course.”
You had me at dingleberries. And the golf advice appears to be sound as well!
awesome mindset. gonna send this to a few playas that I know need it!
“Caddie no good!” 😂 I do the same thing here in the Philippines.
Thank you for these lessons....the mind is the biggest hurdle...and the dingleberrries
Watching you play a full 9 or 18 holes with the club choices of a true 30 handicap would be gold.. Something like hitting hybrids from 130 out or always putting from 100 and in 😂
Left hand series coming
May be tough but I would really like to see videos like this for breaking other scores too such as 90, 85, and 80.
There are plenty on my channel - just have to use the search function
Brilliant stroke index idea!
Fantastic practical intelligent golfing tips, wonderful advice
I am a good golfer. I take about three or four clubs on the course 579 pitch lob … . That’s plenty. Play for a bogey. Put with the edge of the lob wedge. It’s good practice.
Brilliant! Pro’s and realistic people understand and agree. Forget The Others😂
Baus tip for me, the putting stroke for chipping. Absolute game changer!
I was within 3 strokes yesterday playas. It’s coming this season fasho
Sending this to my frustrated golfing friend.. Thanks Baus
Thank you
Great video mate thank you for your help
Since I add a stroke per hole extra my score goes down and plays many times 18 hcp.... very nice lessons on the channel. Where is this course you played? I also lives in Thailand...
This feels like exactly what I need.
The way of the playa??? . No, you are truly the Zen Master ❤❤❤
Loving your work buddy ❤
I'm going to GITG tomorrow! Playa style!
The nice 5 colour combo again. 😂😂😂👍🏻
I now just tee off with my 7 iron. Consistently hitting mid to low 90’s! 💵
Best Slovakian golfer I’ve ever seen
Playing on Tuesday. Gonna make a concerted effort to follow the laws of the playa
Hey boss I’m a fan of the channel. I’ve noticed you have been wearing a wrist wrap in your recent videos. As someone that suffered a wrist injury duffing a shot yesterday on the golf course.
Is it something you recommend and does it not interfere with your swing on the course?
Didn’t interfere much. Just held the injured part in place. I don’t think it did THAT much but was more psychological for me.
It’s like he’s personally attacking me but I love it
I am using the toe down chipping technique and it works beautifully. Much more confident around the greens!
Low handicappers do respect this, I would much rather you play like this if we are paired together than the normal hook and slice drives every tee shot
Playing today using this method, hopefully we can get 99 or better 😅
this system really does take all the pressure off. I broke 100 for the first time and shot a 96!!!
Please shout out if you are ever south of the Franshoek mountains! Keen on a game
these tips were so sneaky, AND so good.. thanks boyfriends
Yup, just got back.
Shot 98 after not playing for over a year
I done that shit! 150 PSP BABY! Shot a 99 today with rain halfway through back 9!!
It’s like a new video everyday, boyfriend it’s awesome
Heart of a Baus ❤
Those "dingleberries" are the ones that poopoo you for laying up on a par 3 and then proceed to slice it into the pond 50 yards right of the green....which is further away than your lay up!!!😂
Yes sir. That is textbook definition of dingleberry
with your Saffer accent, "Golf Sidekick" kind of sounds like "Golf Psychic" (see 14:51 of this video, e.g.)
Need a video for the good player who is highly erratic. Can drive the ball 300 yards and score 9 pars in around but struggles to break 90 and whose driver is straightest club.
Coming my boy. Shot it today
Our guy constantly saying "distance doesnt matter". This video starting like "You cant break a 100? So you cant hit it far at all?" :D
Gonna play this system all year until I break 90. Got as low as 94 last year and only was able to play a dozen rounds or less.
What clubs are you using right now?
Rick Shiels going to adopt this technique
Happy Easter, boyfriends.
