Sweet, so stoked i found this channel thanks to watching an old interview with Oliver (The Horrorist) Chesler. But I think its time for me to learn to make use of the DAW its a bit intimidating with so many menus, options and sounds to discover. Everytime I just end up screwing around and forgetting how I got to wherever I am at the moment with a sound I really dig. Last June I picked up a Minilogue XD to as I wanted to go the hardware route influenced by a Trent Reznor interview about connecting to your instrument with having that hands on tactile feel. 3 months ago I picked up the Drum Brute impact and today I just ordered a 303 clone the TD-3-MO-AM. And basically am winging it and learning by trial and error and really by what feels good to me. The XD has been wonderful for learning the basics of synthesis. I haven't patched anything or recorded anything yet I just have experimental jam sessions which have helped to learn a little of works together. I'm at the point to where I wanna put full tracks together but have no clue how to arrange or structure properly. Well I guess I blabbed enough.. oh yeah whats crazy just this year i discovered Oliver's The Nebula LP.. from 98.. Soo Good!

There's actually a click button on that kick device for exactly what you're after. You can't really shape the click sound but a quick option to try before going down the rabbit hole, maybe.

I'm fairly certain what makes an absolute banger like your total takeoff song is an absolutely banging baseline. Pretty damn sure that's the secret sauce that needs to go into any banger.

I would have taken the time to you find a Kik that works a little more then add a little click on top of it to the attack.

Yeah the track is fairly experimental, it's not your total takeoff I would just leave the kick raw quickly move on to something that is a little more of a banger. Not to say that you can't remix this into a banger.

this kick is still weak imho. it lacks definition
