    After a lot of videos teaching PK roll that I've came across, this video was the most effective in terms of rolling. I tried this roll, and I felt the impact evenly distributed.

    Learning the roll is different for everyone. I have seen people who need a lot of practice to get it right, and others who got it the first couple times. As long as you are rolling across your back and don't feel extreme pressure or stress on one area of your body you are probably doing pretty good.

    That depends on what you find to be important.
    If you find it important to be able to jump from certain heights without hurting yourself, or minimizing it, the 3 landing techniques are important.
    If you find it important to get onto high places, the wall up is important.
    If you find it important to get over obstacles that are harder or impossible to jump over, vaults are important. (sprinting is very important). Personally, I think it's important to know the definition of Parkour.

    @Boisius if you hesitate try padded mats but grass is the more realistic thing trust me wen I say grass hurts less then cement and I had to learn that the hard way to be honest u shouldn't hesitate do exactly what he says and you'll be fine. Cheers and train safe

    That depends on your pain tolerance. Assuming you have a pain tolerance similar to mine (relatively high), rolling on concrete from 6ft doesn't hurt (assuming your technique is good). Rolling from 10ft on concrete hurts a little (I'm not that strong so I avoid doing heights like that for now) but not very much. Rolling 10ft on grass is just a little uncomfortable (in moderately dense soil) and about 12ft (on concrete) hurt more than 10ft, but still not that much (I wear boots).

  • @TrainingForParkour
    @TrainingForParkour  12 років тому +1

    Sorry for the late response! This is the same roll to be used on every surface. Obviously it will feel different going from grass to concrete, but the technique is the same. Work your way from softer to harder surfaces.

    • @lethalassassin1754
      @lethalassassin1754 5 років тому

      When you roll the places to hit are the back, the meaty part of your shoulder blade not the tip, go across either more diagonal or sideways whatever feels right. Then not going to the hip bone but on the buttcheek and popping up to your feet in a crouch ready to push up and continue running. Places not to hit, the top of shoulder or edge...its usually bony and can break with a lot of impact. Obviously your head, you don't want to smack your elbow or clip the middle of the spine or hip bone. And avoid hitting knees and ankles coming out. Sounds like a lot but the key thing is to practice and play with it. If you need more advice i can tell you how to fix certain things you might be clipping.

    • @wilsonram39
      @wilsonram39 10 років тому

      Hey bro, im not exactly an authority on this whole thing but based off the video, it'd sound like you just needed to have a bit more curve in your body placement (not quite sure how to word that but im meaning how when he was on the ground, he was saying to make sure your body is curved to the side)
      If you have that curve, the momentum should carry you through from opposite Shoulder to Opposite Hip :D
      Though looking at your post, you've prolly figured this out in 6 months:p

      Dont listen to this video tutorial and no your shoulders arent too big hes just small. Body shape can play a role in technique just using what he shows won't work for you. Im assuming you have more muscle on your back and shoulders? If so thats great since im thin and occationally messing up my technique hurts like a bitch. But if you're meatier you can have room for error and it won't really hurt
