- Since yesterday I have a Scamp to run on the railway. I had a lot of fun and did a lot of work today. The loco is designed by Colin Edmondson and has been built by someone who knows how to make a great looking/running loco. Very pleased so far!

Cracking little engine !
It is!
Welcome to team scamp 💪
Thanks James!
Hi there,I love your videos you have gave me an idea for when I'm a bit older to get a job and have lots of money I will have a miniture railway in my garden thanks for the good ideas and also very lovley railway and locos and great videos
Thank you! Well worth investing in.
Yes
Great job!
Cheers Marc!
Excellent
Thanks!
Great little engine !
They are amazing. So small but very stable and powerful.
Appreciated the extra expense of adding the wheelbarrow cam. Lovely little Scamp. Looks a bit of a knee-scraper. Enjoyed!
Thanks Stan! Most knee scraping areas have been trimmed now.
I love your little railway and have been watching updates for a while now. Love the addition of a Scamp, next on my list of build projects. I guess the electric start is just a power feed via a pish switch to the 'generator' motor?
Not entirely sure how it has been wired up tbh! Thanks again for watching!
Lovely video Ian. Grumpy, in view of his colour, is 'a very useful engine!'
He is indeed! Thanks Alan.
I’ll bet Lawrie was on the blower, but you couldn’t tell what he was saying, just the sound of squeaky excitement! Super little loco. Looks well engineered. As long as you’ve got petrol, always ready to go.
Haha! No he hasn't been as yet! Yes very pleased with it!
That's the best looking scamp I've ever seen! I love the seat on it, it's got to be more comfy than the cast tractor seat....
It is comfy. So well designed and built!
Welcome to the Scamp family! Some sophisticated electrics, which add to the overall operation, but for those thinking of getting one, the basic Scamp is perfectly OK without the meters and electric start! Best wishes from JIM, No. 108. Tim Sanderson
Loving it so far!
Always love your videos. Some great camera shots and angles. Funnily enough just fired up our wood burner for a couple of hours to take the chill off!
Thanks a lot! I'm sure we will have to soon.
Excellent mate. Nice to see it put straight to good use. Some nice angles in this one mate. I'll bring a jerry can next time.
Thanks matey! Yes please do!
I can see that it's a bit tricky sitting sideways on the loco through those cuts.
I've heard quite a bit about the Scamps on the internet, they seem to be quite popular.
Excellent locos Amber!
I always thought a Scamp would be a good little loco for your line. I use to have a Scamp. But just sold it on, I am more-less out of the hobby now. Have a mooch on my channel. You see what my Scamp got up to on a local line. Have fun with your new Scamp.
Thanks! I will do!
@@Elvinley thank you for the sub.
@@GarrattHamster great looking loco!
@@Elvinley Thank you, well, like I say. I am more less out of the hobby now and the loco has got a new owner. But yeah. Grunty little locos and lots of fun. Just a shame when I owned mine I didn’t take out as much to others railways as I wanted to.
Lovely looking scamp, if only I could live a bit longer I would definately get one, you are going to need more shed space, a nice problem to have though.
Yes just ordered one! Thanks for your comments. I wish you all the best.
Step 1 petrol-electic à la Hastings. Step 2 (Hastings again) string the wires up!
Very nice! I own a scamp which I'm planning to build over these winter months to run at my local club track along with my garden railway
Excellent. Good choice!
Great video as always! Loving the new locomotive too! Always been a big fan of Scamps. Any plans for new infrastructure or trackwork in the coming months?
Yes, a shed for the Scamp coming off a new set of points and some removal of earth from where the fallen tree root is. I also plan to change/improve the sets of points near the loco sheds. Thanks again for watching and commenting!
Thank you for taking us on your journey. I absolutely love the atmosphere of your railway.
Would it be possible to get a side drawing of your coach showing the dimensions. I’m keen on making a copy if you would allow.
Cheers from Alabama
Thank you! The red coach?
Actually the green one that you used in this video.
But I’m keen on the red one also😊
T
@@tpoole9585 I didn't make the green ones. There are actually two of them. I can certainly measure up. They are a nice design. Lots of metal in the underframes.
@@Elvinley measurements would be awesome. Much appreciated.

Im planning a 7 1/4" railway and can't decide wether to get the scamp or the Phoenix loco hefty. I like how the scamp is petrol powered but feel like I'd be getting more train for the money with the hefty. is there one you'd say is better for a first engine? I want to be able to carry people but the scamp looks a little less powerful than the hefty.
A bit early to tell but for most uses I think either would be fine. By all accounts the Scamp is pretty powerful.
The speed controller, has that been extended? If so, how as interested!
Hi Neil. I will have to investigate how it works!
It is attached underneath to the speed control pot.
