Sun-dried golden oysters are a popular and auspicious ingredient in Cantonese cuisine during Lunar New Year, as the pronunciation of “dried oyster” is similar to “good fortune” in Chinese. One of the best places to get golden oysters is Lau Fau Shan in Hong Kong. The area has been famous for oyster farming for 700 years as it sits right at the Pearl River Estuary - where fresh water meets seawater - an ideal environment for oysters to grow. The Post’s Lisa Cam went on a trip to discover the secret behind this beloved ingredient, and find out how it transforms into the highlight of many Lunar New Year dishes.

This is really interesting. I don't care for oysters, but the cultural information here is so interesting! Thank you for sharing.

Dried oysters taste quite different to oysters. If you've never tried a dried one, give it a go.....

I live in China. Everything is miserable here, but no one dares to complain.
We Chinese hope the Hong Kongers, Tibetans and Uyghurs won't live like us any longer.
Seriously, if there is next life, I wish to be born in any other country, except China.

And there is this big contrast between Chinese media and Western. In the West they are completely deranged and hypnotized about avoiding eating animal products because of the "environment/climate change¨. In China and Asia in general they still love to eat normal healthy food.
