    I have got to say, extremely useful, very concise information. Excellent delivery. Now I can't wait to get back home to practice what I have learned from you. I have so many ugly tracks that have lacked this process. Gotta hope they are gonna sound excellent after I implement what you shared. Once again, a whole hearted THANK YOU.

    Really excellent video. I was doing a search on mastering using Studio One with the Artist version. The reason: I just bought recently the Presonus 32S Series III mixer and Artist came with it. I wanted to see what was possible and also what might be an advantage to upgrading to the pro version. You did an excellent job on this video. Not just useful info, but i enjoyed watching how you approach Mastering.

      Thanks Phil it's much appreciated. The Song Page in my opinion is more flexible as you get a few extras like the automation, clip gain envelopes, event FX etc but the Project Page is great for Metadata and file exporting and file arrangement. Maybe give Sphere a go for a month to see if you like Pro?
      Thanks once again for your support and if you need anything then just let me know.
      All the best

      @@ProgressiveSoundAudio Thanks Smudge for the information.
      I used to do recording full time years ago and had a fairly well equipped analog home studio with a large modular console (D&R Orion w/48 inputs on mix) and a 1 inch 16 track console type recorder running 15 or 30IPS. I sold my recorder about 15 years ago and added a stand alone digital 24 track Hard Disk recorder (The Alesis HD24XR model with the upgraded AD/DA convertors). I still have all my outboard gear, some considered classics now.
      My goal now is to build a Hybrid studio with both an analog Allen Heath 32 channel mixer and the Presonus 32S series III. To record a full band, I am not sure how I am going to get the analog mixer audio into a DAW unless I either buy a 16 or 24 channel interface...or as a work around, if I run the analog channel direct outs into the Presonus line inputs. It seems a shame to buy an interface when I have them built right into the Presonus 32S mixer.
      If you have any suggestions, I am definitely open for ideas. Just to mention again, your video was super well done and I am looking forward to watching others you have done. Thanks.

      I don't really know too much about the 32S but does it not have USB connectivity to connect direct to the computer? That way you should be able to print direct to Studio One.

    You do know that the compressor is still a broadband compressor regardless of how you set the filter right? It’s only a filter for the detection circuit.

    • @ProgressiveSoundAudio
      @ProgressiveSoundAudio  Рік тому

      Yep I’m aware, it’s more around trying to explain in simple terms what the filter does, and the explanation may not be perfect.

      @Endless_Skyway_Adventures Рік тому

      @@ProgressiveSoundAudio fair enough but there are many mis conceptions about how compression actually works even among experienced users.

      Yeah totally agree, I do recall something unique about the way this plugin operated but can’t remember exactly the finer details. That being said I’m still learning even at 40 years old and there’s always a better way to present information in a clearer way, so I’ll definitely be taking the feedback on board 👍

    Good job, on explaining the simplicity of stock plugins in s1.5 in mastering.
    -Song selected is not my type of song, but I liked the concept you applied
    -Now, what would be your approach to using the split tool in professional, especially when it comes to separating the high frequencies for cymbals and high guitars?
    -what are your thoughts on using the multi-band compressor in the mastering chain pluggin? In terms of using that to narrow the bass as a mono(something interesting you mentioned in the video in reference to mono and bass and I agree)
    That's all for now. Thanks in advance for your contribution

      Hi Brandon, Limiter 2 is the updated version that comes with Studio One 5, however the controls and functionality on the Limiter with 4.6 are the same. The version 5 plugins have some small tweaks, like State Space technology and gui but most of the features are the same.

    So do you have to mix it down to stereo and then go from there? I have Artist and cant seem to find any info on how to do the mixdown and whatnot.

    • @ProgressiveSoundAudio
      @ProgressiveSoundAudio  2 роки тому +1

      I do always recommend mixing down to a stereo file and then Mastering from the stereo file as it creates separation from Mixing to put you in a Mastering mindset. Once you’ve mixed your track click ‘Song’ and then ‘Export’ and then ‘Mixdown’ and it’ll create a stereo file for you 👍
