One of my biggest mistakes is buying an item that is similar to another item I am wanting. Instead of waiting for a restock or saving up a little more. I almost always end up regretting it.
I love fashion for this, even though my closet isn't that big, (at least the parts of it that I wear) I feel like every piece that I really fall in love with and joins my constant rotation becomes timless for me and my look. even if some people may still wear ultraboosts, they might only be doing so because they grabbed that trend years ago and never really came off of it. The closet of that person might not be what you consider timeless or aesthetic but they may have really found themselves in this active-wear lifestyle corner of the industry. I feel like you cant criticize someone for doing that and simply feeling comfortable with themselves.
That last rule should basically be THE rule for fashion. Knowing your individual style and what works for you will make things so much easier for you. I’m 6’10 and 340. Solidly proportionated but there are some things I just can’t wear and I know that lol. I think one last rule should be that whatever you wear, wear it with confidence. Because a lot of times, the person makes the outfit, not the outfit making the person.
I’m 44 and still wear stuff I have owned since high school because I try to get things for the long haul… quality, fit and stuff I love authentically not because it’s trending, plus the stuff always cycles back so I get compliments on stuff that I’ve had for decades. Congratulations on 100k. Love your channel
The Samba comeback is beautiful and terrifying for me. I’ve been wearing them since I was 14 and have had a pair every year until I beat them. This year I got 4 of them and they are legit the low top shoe I wear most. But man when the trend goes away I’m sad that adidas will reduce the colorways that drop again.
I recently gave away my pair i bought a couple of years ago for like 30 bucks because they were too small. However, yesterday i was lucky to find a new pair in black in my size, always wanted to wear this shoe
Getting a measuring tape is super underrated advice. It makes online shopping SO much easier and opens a lot of doors for online thrifting and reselling stuff. I've been into fashion for a while but since I noted down the measurements for some of my garments, it's made it super easy to cross reference with stuff I see online.
i get caught off guard whenever you reference other fashion youtubers that i also watch, it’s like woah you know about Laini too? so cool that you’re supporting other channels in your videos!
This year really flew ! Congrats on 100k btw. I feel like I’ve heard you express it before but, trends are kinda what helped me find my style. Some trends can stick and become a staple in a wardrobe , and now thru learning fashion history I’m able to blend what I picked up from trends with like historical backing. I think fashions biggest lesson, whether it’s making the clothes or wearing them, is to find YOUR voice.
The analysis about the trend purchases topic is fantastic, even if it’s really, REALLY HARD to stay completely coherent to it, because of social acceptance and the amount of media that surrounds us and allow us to get influenced way way faster than ever. In addiction, I believe that, regarding the third point, we should learn to appreciate more and more styles we wouldn’t embrace if worn by others with great pieces, attitude and style. PVV: overall I can’t complain, bad days do exist but I’m managing to overcome them. Thx for asking, enjoy your 100K ✌🏼
I think the topic "the desire for a personal uniform" would make a cool video. I dont know about you drew but I´ve had that desire for a while now but I also realise that it will probably never happen for me. It would be interesting to hear what your take on that topic would be. PVV: Enjoying a new Drew Joiner video in the background as I´m wrapping up my master of architecture.
Not drew here but just wanted to add my two cents lol. I think the “problem” sometimes is when you chase a uniform arbitrarily because you feel like you need it. I would say I have stuff I gravitate towards and a few silhouettes and color combos I rely on that may constitute a “uniform”, but it happened very naturally as I’ve become more attuned to my personal style and i divest from it quite often to try out new stuff. If I tried to actually find a uniform 6-8 months ago before really knowing what I liked to wear I would’ve run myself mad lol
Currently I am feeling the urge to reduce my closet and style down. As I think it will bring more mental clarity. Having too much stuff is something I struggle with as a content creator
@@ifeoluwaogunkola8328 Yeah I pretty much agree with what your saying. Of course it has to happen naturally, otherwise were just pretending. But that natural gravitation towards a few carefully selected pieces of clothing is what that desire is (maybe more so the idea rather than the reality of it). I think its all part of the topic. Maybe theres a theraputic aspect to it as well as Drew is saying. Either way I would enjoy hearing his thoughts on the matter.
It is always nice to buy something when it is the trend. It becomes a mistake/problem when you become too invested into the trend and end up having half your wardrobe being trendy. Personally I have a wardrobe of things i like which i consider to be timeless but have a couple pieces which are trendy, just because I wanted to spice up the fashion game 🔥
i'm in high school, sometimes it's hard for me because i don't fit in with my classmates, i'm from brazil but i like the american style and i'm a girl who loves baggy clothes I'm trying to accept myself more, I feel good about myself but it's hard not to be accepted by others Thank you for the advice
I never cared about fashion until a week ago when i watched a video or 10 and started buying and wearing outfits with intent and man has it changed my outlook and everything. I felt more confident and ppl view me differently in a good way. I’ll see where my journey takes me and hope to come back to my comment in a year or so inshaalah.
From Korea. I'm into fashion and actually doing fashion thing, and plus, I'm studying English. I wanna tell you that your videos all are really helpful to study English and get the foreigner fashion thoughts at the same time.
It’s hard to not look like you’re following a trend when you like certain things like say new balance and then they become popular and people start wearing them
Drew! I’m so happy to have found your slice of heaven on the internet. I’ve been working in fashion for a while and found myself getting sick of it all - in particular the endless trend, marketing, and sale cycle. Your videos remind me why I loved it in the first place. You and Alec Leach’s The World Is On Fire But We’re Still Buying Shoes. I’m off social media so I’m dressing for myself now - Margaret Howell, Studio Nicholson, and old fuddy duddy British brands like Burberry and Trickers. I notice that while my style doesn’t change too much, the silhouettes have embraced the times and right now it’s looser trousers and oversized tops. Been really fun styling outfits like this, feels more free! Love the videos, looking forward to many more ❤
Wow I don’t know why but I got caught off guard when you asked how we’re doing. Honestly it’s been rough, still trying to move forward from my former long term relationship, but shit like this, finding my fashion sense and ultimately who I am as a person, how I want to really present is so important to me right now. So thank you for asking man, been watching you grow and you seem like an amazing, genuine person. I admire your perspective on fashion and it has not only helped me be aware of interesting topics regarding fashion, but also helping me go through some tough times. Much luv 💜💜💜✨
Honestly another thing i dont see people covering alot is understanding different fits as in loose fit, regular, slim and so on. This might seem obvious but if someone is just starting out and they're trying to recreate a certain outfit of style in general they might get confused as to why they're failing and fail to see the details in clothes such as dropped shoulders that give off a certain vibe.
So proud of how far you’ve come drew. Been here for 1+ year now and it’s been so amazing to see your growth as an influencer and person! So incredibly inspired by everything and I’d really hope to meet you one day!!!💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
Hey drew i really want to see some streetwear brand tier list. i want to hear your opinion on some of the “hype” brand that was in the past and current ones!
Congrats for 100k such a great milestone! Also, love your take on the power of social acceptance. It is such a real thing to verbalize because so many of us can easily base our likes in fashion or life, not off individuality or what we truly like, but only on what we believe intrinsically will provide us acceptance from others. Love hearing what you have to say, consistently provides intersting insight and thought for my day in fashion and in life in general. Peace & Love homie
I went to a local antique/vintage market today and saw the black samba/parachute pant combo way too many times. When people buy trends it becomes boring, I like when I go out and see peoples variety of interests when it comes to clothes. When everyone has the same thing on it's pretty corny.
i hear you on everything but like about the trend of sambas and adidas in general, i own a pair of sambas and i’ve always loved adidas’s stuff. So i just feel like most people should also just keep with what they’ve liked and eventually people will realize that and appreciate not everyone hops on bandwagons
#PVV Doing okay. Finding the next step in my life for next year. Been trying to move abroad now for about a year and its going slow and steady. There are some challenges to it, mainly applying for a work visa. I'm also 20 years old and never really left the nest so its a big step in my life. Been saving so much money that I really haven't spent the money I want to on my wardrobe (Finally found a style that I like to wear). I'm originally from L.A. but moved to Tucson, AZ for a more affordable living. I don't enjoy Tucson very much and I'm trying to leave ASAP. So I'm praying by summer of 2023 ill be out and in Europe! Keep doing amazing things Drew!
All the best to you! If you’re planning to stay somewhere in Europe longer than a tourist visa allows, try looking into what agreements the country you want to stay in long term, has with the United States. There are some countries that offer youth mobility visas where you can work and travel for one or two years.
I feel like thrifting answers a lot of these problems, cause it’s a unique article of clothes, and I get to tailor it to me. And I can always try something new and if I don’t like it, donate it again or resell it. Also congrats on your UA-cam plaque! Been watching for about 3 months now, so excited to see your channel grow. Don’t worry about pushing the envelope, just focus on developing your voice and establishing your audience, but most importantly, writing vids on what YOU want to do. I love watching videos where the creator is passionate about what they have made, and chances are if I’m following your UA-cam channel and the algorithm pushed me your content, we have similar interest, and I will also enjoy that subject!
Another thing to consider is location, there’s trends on a micro and macro level. Something maybe out of style somewhere but completely hyped somewhere else. Certain cities around the world have been doing certain trends for the last 10+ years and you’ll see It just catching on elsewhere.
Talking about the PVV - I think that slowing down from the "regular" life of what is going on really helps the mental sanity of some people, me included. I find that working in certain industries and even trying to keep up with things on social media especially get tiring over longer periods of time. And coming into the end of the year it's good to take a deep breath, look at you done over the year and appreciate it for what it is. I feel at the end of the year people should relax a bit and take it year. Each year is good and bad but taking time for yourself is the most important. Also good shoes are important too.
Wearing what's right for you is so important, as I've been working on my wardrobe I realised how important that is. Whether that item is "trendy" or "classic" it's important if its a staple for you. #pvv honestly there is alot going on right now, working on new artworks which is scary and exciting at the same time. I completely understand that feeling of what's next... but I think what helps me combat that is remembering how far I've come so it helps me celebrate the wins a little more
These are really helpful tips because I didn’t even know my measurements lol I’m gonna start watching more of your vids. I love your perspective on styling.
I love your down to earth view on fashion! I'm guilty of falling for trends(shoes 😅) far too often, I'm looking for more timeless pieces to add to my wardrobe from now on. I've always believed fahion is subjective, & very personal as well. Congratulations on the milestone, heres to the next milestone! 🥃🥃
Love this video esp the end part find myself gearing my style to make my family friends and partner happy but I need remember what I like thank u and love ur channel ☺️
Love these Videos!👌 Could you make a video on how to decide on clothes that you consider buying? Especially when sth is a little more expensive and you're not 100% sure if it's the right thing to buy, like what should one take into consideration? I think a lot of people (me included) get excited abt sth and spend lots of money on it and then end up regreting it. A guide would be amazing!
lol i truly still need that reminder about knowing my measurements- self-perception is tough without numbers sometimes! i'm doing ok recently, kinda stuck in my job search since i'm graduating in February but it's nothing urgent so i'm chill overall. congrats on 100k!! #pvv
You should talk abt trendy colors. Like beiges together and neutrals are super in, colorful crochet, I know red is a rising fall color trend. But yeah like are any of these particularly trendy, or timeless
Hello, just wanted to say hi and thank you from Sweden! It’s fun to see and listen to your thoughts from here! Hopefully you continue over time with these videos
Appreciate your genuineness throughout your videos! My love for fashion has grown just by watching you because you've enabled me to be more confident in my choices while also being cohesive to my purchases and what would be worth it in the long run #timelesspieces #pvv
PVV first off congrats for 100k thats just a result of the good energy and quality content you put out, you def deserve it. Im out here in a new city tryna make new friends so it can be tough sometimes but watching these vids helps out a ton in keeping my calm and style up lol. keep doing you drew✌️
but thinking about dropping out of college and starting a tattoo apprenticship. i kinda realized i just dont enjoy school and want to start something now. i live in berlin so i hope i can find the opportunity to get started in something i actually will enjoy
I'm glad I subbed to your channel and I came here from watching What's The Hype channel. Both of y'all make great videos. Trying to figure out what I wanna wear for the new year while I'm in Japan. Thank you!!
omg i love your videos! i only recently started watching and you always explain things in a really sophisticated yet easy to understand way! so thank you!! i think my biggest fashion mistake is impulse buying and not really considering if i like a piece or if i have just attached a personality/scenario to the piece !
@@DrewJoiner I'm a YT vet so its tough to say, but when it comes to fashion content; you're top tier. What I love about your channel is that you don't need to showcase anything, your honest input on fashion and consumerism is very refreshing. I appreciate your opinions
My individual style solely relies on colors and matching colors with the articles of clothing I wear. I'm not in tune with the trends, I buy stuff based on what I like. I'm glad I found your channel Drew
the thread connecting #2 and #3 is the mistake of always thinking if you love it you need to have it. so i wouldn't say they contradict, theyre related since its necessary to be realistic about whether what you love will be timeless for you. if not then its totally okay to appreciate it from afar.
your channel is awesome. discovered him like two days ago and i already watched almost every video. actually i thought you were a huge channel with millions of subscribers because of the quality of your videos. really glad i found you!! love your channel!! ps. sorry for spelling & grammar mistakes. english is not my first language
Hey drew, what do u think ab how peoples personal style is ever changing? I have been conflicted because my personal style is always changing. It’s getting better of course, but it’s not consistent. My goal is to one day reach a point where I have an aesthetic and that’s is all I wear u know, like Johnny depp or Tyler the creator. But the more I learn about things the more I want to change my style. Last year I was traveling a bit, I was in Europe and I would wear flare pants small shirt and some boots. Now I find myself wearing big pants and some birks. I will def switch it up some days and go back to that 70s style but sometimes I feel like my personal aesthetic has no spine. If this topic interests u I’d love to see a video on ur thoughts of it someday!
One of the brands that seem like essential timeless pieces (at least matching my personal style) are BODE pieces, and it helps that their sustainable and unique which keeps them from becoming just a trend. I'm saving up for a pair of their custom corduroys, cause their very specific to the brand, but do you know any other brands with a similar style and possibly lower price point lol? I've tried to make some of the styles with thrifted fabrics and such, but I want to support some new designers, too. If you have any recs please let me know. Love you videos dude!
I love these. Im going to go do my measurements right now! Lol when the video ended, I was like noooo he needs to post more! Also, very good point at the end. Ps: I love you!
Mistakes: not knowing how to maintain your clothes whether it is washing, drying, preventing shrinkage, maybe buying the size up so it fits properly after a wash/dry cycle. I have same jogger pants from GAP but different colors and I'm still surprised how one still fits while the other is too small. :)
I wear my ultraboosts for pe in school
ultraboosts are so firreeee, it can be styled up or down

I love your down to earth view on fashion!
I'm guilty of falling for trends(shoes 😅) far too often, I'm looking for more timeless pieces to add to my wardrobe from now on. I've always believed fahion is subjective, & very personal as well.
Congratulations on the milestone, heres to the next milestone! 🥃🥃
Love this video esp the end part find myself gearing my style to make my family friends and partner happy but I need remember what I like thank u and love ur channel ☺️
Love these Videos!👌
Could you make a video on how to decide on clothes that you consider buying?
But yeah like are any of these particularly trendy, or timeless
love this
Hello, just wanted to say hi and thank you from Sweden! It’s fun to see and listen to your thoughts from here! Hopefully you continue over time with these videos
Congrats on the plaque man, seeing you grown has been dopeee. If they sleeping on you now they gon regret it later, truss me.

Thank you for the succinct delivery on a topic I’ve been thinking a lot about recently.
Appreciate your genuineness throughout your videos! My love for fashion has grown just by watching you because you've enabled me to be more confident in my choices while also being cohesive to my purchases and what would be worth it in the long run #timelesspieces #pvv
❤️ glad I can help
Greatly deserved that 100K plaque, can't wait to see that mil plaque, love.
That is what I am working towards!
PVV first off congrats for 100k thats just a result of the good energy and quality content you put out, you def deserve it. Im out here in a new city tryna make new friends so it can be tough sometimes but watching these vids helps out a ton in keeping my calm and style up lol. keep doing you drew✌️
developing friendships is tough I am learning to do it as well
this channel is blessed, you have a wonderful energy
haha so do you! makes it easy
but thinking about dropping out of college and starting a tattoo apprenticship. i kinda realized i just dont enjoy school and want to start something now. i live in berlin so i hope i can find the opportunity to get started in something i actually will enjoy
That's a big move, make sure to weigh the pros and cons
I'm glad I subbed to your channel and I came here from watching What's The Hype channel. Both of y'all make great videos. Trying to figure out what I wanna wear for the new year while I'm in Japan. Thank you!!
omg i love your videos! i only recently started watching and you always explain things in a really sophisticated yet easy to understand way! so thank you!!
i think my biggest fashion mistake is impulse buying and not really considering if i like a piece or if i have just attached a personality/scenario to the piece !

You're my new favorite fashion channel on YT
a true honor! what is your fav channel period?
@@DrewJoiner I'm a YT vet so its tough to say, but when it comes to fashion content; you're top tier. What I love about your channel is that you don't need to showcase anything, your honest input on fashion and consumerism is very refreshing. I appreciate your opinions
Love the plant and pikachu in your background. Minimlist and cute
pikachu is my hero haha
My individual style solely relies on colors and matching colors with the articles of clothing I wear. I'm not in tune with the trends, I buy stuff based on what I like. I'm glad I found your channel Drew
Im glad you like the videos!
Damn bro u speak faxx ! Love the video, ur voice is perfect to speak on what ever 🫶
the thread connecting #2 and #3 is the mistake of always thinking if you love it you need to have it. so i wouldn't say they contradict, theyre related since its necessary to be realistic about whether what you love will be timeless for you. if not then its totally okay to appreciate it from afar.
What's that fleece you got there? It's nice 🤩
Also just subscribed love your vibes
mandela mfg
When it comes to measurements, what’s the general rule to determine if something is too big or not?
Its subjective mostly, but if it feels unnatural or it is annoying to wear
I see the Manresa fleece!
Just found your channel. You're amazing and you're going to get big. Keep going mans
My favorite fashion is anything vintage I’m addicted to getting heavy weight items at the thrift hard to find things that fit correctly tho
your channel is awesome. discovered him like two days ago and i already watched almost every video. actually i thought you were a huge channel with millions of
subscribers because of the quality of your videos. really glad i found you!! love your channel!!
ps. sorry for spelling & grammar mistakes. english is not my first language
❤️
What's the fleece/sherpa that he's wearing?
CONGRATS ON 100K!
for me, when i buy trendy stuff like shoes (new balance for example,)
its because i truly like it but just didn't know about it before...
Love that outfit! Where’d you get that hat? Vintage right? Who makes the fleece? I love it
Hey drew, what do u think ab how peoples personal style is ever changing?
Glad you do read the comments, but love your channel and vibe bro keep up the good content!
Always!
Love you videos dude!
bode goes so hard, I just learned about Karu give them a look (it might be kharu)
@@DrewJoiner Wow, their pieces are amazing, I'm definitely start saving more lol (you were right it's Karu) thankyou so much!!
I love these. Im going to go do my measurements right now! Lol when the video ended, I was like noooo he needs to post more! Also, very good point at the end. Ps: I love you!
Love from Cape Town, South Africa
Ngl i recently bought some ub1 and fuck im glad the hype for this is over, its mad comfy
dumb comfy
Also crochet in general. I love the beanies. But are they trendy?
beanies are staples imo
The drew joiner one is big facts
some folks get it haha
your vids are mad refreshing
Thank you Robert! preciate you
Im new into the big fashion game and I have to ask for any tips on finding your style.
Congrats on 100k! Been watching for a while and I always love your content.
Thank you!!!
i love your videos, i feel the passion you have for this and im here to appreciate it. much love drew🫶🏽
I haven’t even started and this is a top 10 all time UA-cam video
haha! that's love
I tailor my pants and certain jackets because the length of pants I want never fits or the waist it’s either or (being short male is a struggle)
i love your videos they’re such a vibe every time
Getting my measurements right was key but you still gotta battle vanity sizing across all these brands
First one is so important. The feeling of wearing a pair of jeans of your size 10/10
