I feel like texture is definitely an underrated part of a good outfit. A lot of people say this and it really does make a difference. It’s especially true if there are no accessories included
I have a short body and look better in a monochrome look, so texture is definetly a good way for me to spice things up.
I think it's so important, in any creative field, to intimately know and understand rules like these -- only so you can then break them.
The most stylish people understand these conventions and guidelines, and that's precisely how they're able to know when exactly to throw them all away.
Same as with filmmaking or photography or even cooking; following these tips and tricks is just as important as knowing when to go against them. That's when you create art
I feel like the tips your giving are a great start and can definitely boost your fits and make you look good. But I think fashion at its best is figuring out how to break these “rules” and coming up with something new and refreshing.
First few weeks of autumn here where I live! Great pointers and tips on proportions but in all honesty it’s not completely necessary to live by these “rules”. Fashion is much deeper than just proportions. I’d rather see someone with their own style that’s funky, quirky and different (not implementing proportions) that to see a boring mundane trendy outfit that exists by these rules. That’s just my 2 cents, good vid Drewski
While yes, these are good tips for beginners to develop perspective. If you find yourself not needing these tips, then these tips are not for you and thats okay! They're useful for someone so its still great info to share
See it as guidelines. Like when you teach an artist about the anatomy to draw better. You don’t need to implement these just need to try n understand them.
You know you can still have unique style, and quirky and different looks while still applying these ideas and guidlines? None of these rules are telling people what to wear, just the most flattering ways to wear them. And its one thing to be different and unique and another thing to be different while also completely unflattering as well. In fact some of the outfits shown in this video were pretty quirky.
💯 True. I've worked with different stylists and evaluated different style systems. This Is one system amongst many that some stylists use. It's a common one amongst tradional stylists. Others throw this system away depending on what the aim is and dress clients for personality and the reasons for getting dressed (style thoughts by rita) Others for purely aesthetic, some the lines of the body and bone structure (, kibbe)

i personally think that proper bottoms can make outfits a lot more interesting. the basic boring jeans with just the basic 5 pocket design are just boring, and different pants can do so much for your outfit. the 2 main factors of pants (or pretty much every piece of clothing) are the proportions and details. under details falls everything from accessories like belts, straps and pockets, to material.
an extreme example for both factors would be tripp nyc x strap demin, although it keeps it simple with the color. an extreme of just the proportions would be JNCO convict 50" jeans. obviously you can also go the other way around for very slim proportions with absolutely no detail, as that can be very interesting too. for example true religion pants, although a little bit of flaring is very important.
that brings me to my next point: get the proper flare. if you wear a pair of osiris d3's (very thick shoes) and some skinny jeans its just going to look wrong. you need a wide leg opening so the pants properly fit on your shoes. this goes for every shoe and every pair of pants, for example sambas (quite the slim shoe) look good on simply straight fitting denim, and not overly wide bottoms.
next thing on my list: dont wear overly exiting stuff on overly boring stuff. sambas and tripp nyc x straps look very bad. sambas and some levis 501s look pretty good. osiris d3's and tripp nyc x straps look pretty good. simple equation: ordinary shoe + ordinary pants = good, exciting shoe + exciting pants = good.
so all in all pants in correlation to the shoes are the most important expect for exciting outfits in my opinion. i think most examples used in the video fit what i said pretty well.

I feel like these aren’t rules but suggestions. There are many outfits which completely break these rules yet r amazing. For beginners it is necessary but the better and better u get at fits u can break these rules and have a new angle on your fits such as really oversized outfits or strange out there proportions which take over the body. Another tip for beginners is to stay monochromatic. Having a lot of black scale or earth tones can make it easy to make a lot of fits.
#pvv hell. There’s too much rain in NYC especially the flood, I’ve been sick for days but the visit to the Kommune store (A pop up store for September ran by some really cool guys showing underground brands which show expertise in craft) was pretty good.

I learned to try and combine at least 3 of the following in my outfits and it works well: color, texture, pattern, and/or shine. Great videos man.

Fall=Fashion, I have come alive again.
First few days of “fall” haven’t been too good. It’s still pretty hot in AZ so I can’t wear my jackets. I recently scored a couple m65 jackets and I wanna wear them so bad but I don’t wanna sweat a bunch in them since it’s still 90/80 degree weather #pvv
The hardest thing for me is to find pieces of clothing that I like that fit perfectly on me, it’s either too small or too big
you can always fix too big clothes! i would recommend learning how to sew as it can massively improve the fit of everything you have, since you pretty much create your own personal piece of clothing matching exactly your desires.

Fall felt like summer for the first weeks
It's just like graphic design or architecture. If you wear a wide oversized jacket with skinny jeans and flat narrow shoes you'll look like you fall over if a slight wind hits you. Do the inverse and you look very sturdy and damn near monumental which can give off obelix vibes lmao. Imbalance done right however can give your outfit tension and elegance in an artistic way that stands out. Similar to how we don't really perceive most architecture as unique except for those few buildings that look "off" but are clearly too expensive to be "off" by chance. Bella hadid is a master at this imo.
PVV: Autumn in Japan has brought better weather - its getting cooler so I can live normally again lol. The humidity is leaving so I get out my jeans and boots!

what's the word. just moved to London. don't really know anyone here, moved into new flat and getting settled + getting used to my new school. weather is like 55-65 which is mad weird for fits. i see a lot of sweater wearing in my future. need to make myself a pair of jeans i'm actually happy with, my pant taste has taken a weird turn this year where i want a really wide thigh but like a tiny taper to the leg opening, everything is too tapered except OL Vast Cuts but so expensive and hard to find + not able to just wear to death without thinking. so i gotta fill the gap

I like to utilise imbalance by wearing an oversized uniqlo airism U tee with shorts that are high above the knees. This makes imbalance between the top and the shorts😏😏

Question : is the imbalance rule le opposite of the alignment rule? Because first you say wide top + wide bottom then you talk about skinnier tops with large bottoms and vice versa.
My interpretation is that these two rules are not related but each one can be and should be linked witht the rule of the third

I'm 5'7 with an average build. longer torso and shorter legs. Idk who to play with the rule of thirds when I feel the like the inverse of the desired proportions :/ any tips/advice would be appreciated
Try wear ur pants up higher, might be uncomfortable but will make ur legs look longer and torso shorter. I have long legs and short torso, sometimes I’ll wear my pants lower to make my torso look a bit longer.

im not drew, but in my opinion simply looking at a lot of people properly using proportions creates a proper sense for proportions. practice makes perfect, and once your eyes see what looks good and what doesnt it will get and idea for it and how you should style yourself.
