Plane Crash That Left 6 Dead

~The History Behind the Mount Bolduc Plane Crash~
On April 25th, 1944 a Lockheed Ventura patrol plane in the RCAF crashed near the top of Mt Bolduc, just south of Cowichan Lake. The plane struck the summit of Mt Bolduc, where the tips of the wings were torn off, it then continued over a gully and crashed into a lower summit. All 6 men on board died and the crash site as well as their bodies were found a few days following the crash with the help of local logging companies and the Canadian military. Due to the location of the crash, the bodies were not able to be recovered and were buried at the site of the crash. Today, a small cairn with the name of the 6 officers is located nearby the crash site, honouring these men and the fight they put in for their country.
