You guys cant keep pushing this while it still doesnt work. Overlapping layers of light erase tokens on the GM level. Not to mention Explorer mode permanently breaks night vision leaving a phantom image of the entire map whenever you scroll around.
Pro TIp for Doors... Inverted ovals Use the new one-way wall in a circle format to make an inverted oval around your doors. Because you can now see in from the outside it makes the doors really obvious for players so I don't have to keep reminding them where that door they can plainly see is.
I’ll add my voice to those saying it doesn’t work properly. I have players who can see only a segment of vision and then not at the full distance I set. I put it down to playing Dungeon of the Mad mage with huge maps but even so as a product I bought from Roll20 it should work on their platform.
UPDATE THIS VIDEO, THE UI DOESN'T LOOK LIKE THIS ANYMORE AND QUIT LINKING THINGS BACK TO THIS WOEFULLY OUT OF DATE VIDEO. It's maddening trying to figure out how to use dynamic lighting when all the official guides lead back to this.
This feature is still broken. My players couldn't see anything apart from a small slit of vision. This feature has been out for months, why is this still a problem!
I turn on Dynamic Lighting with NOTHING on the map and there is massive lag from just attempting pan. Dungeon crawls are out. Nighttime battles are out. Fights that utilize line-of-sight are out. For the last few sessions I pretty much had to use the GM layer as a "you can't see that far" tool. Please restore it to the previous version at least. It had problems but the only time I had this much lag was when I attempted a 100x100 labyrinth with 50+ tokens and torches.
I have dynamic lighting set correctly, but my players can still see the whole map as if it is daylight. On my end I see how they are supposed to see when I Ctrl L, but it's not working correctly on their end. This is very frustrating to the point that I want to quit.
Man I had plans and everything XD well time to shift Z pic to my players until I get that subscription ty for the answer. The vids helped so much to learn and make my dm a more determined for creativity. Keep it up
What a disaster, I thought with the release of this video that updated dynamic lighting was actually functional. No, it isn't. There are weird shadows, the GM still can't look at a token's vision without causing problems.
I dont even have these features wtf edit: ok so wasting time looking at this tutorial when its a payed option. Well Guess who doesnt need dark vision my players
Yeah, this is still hot garbage, issues with overlapping transitions between dim and bright light, light leaks, reveals to fog of war on related different maps. I'm willing to bet they didn't demonstrate the other lighting control / options because they don't work correctly. Looking forward to that 'in another video'
sorry i dont use the future. Its terrible in the visual part. The sight edges are so sharp it hurts my eyes and the eyes of the players. Nobody likes it. A function for blurry edges would be nice and the blackness is horrible too. ITs really ugly to look at this digital black map. A papter texture or something like that would be nice
If you have feedback on the Dynamic Lighting, please let us know: roll20.io/udl-feedback
do we need the premium version of Roll20? because I'm not seeing the tab where described
There was a time that I managed to set dynamic lighting to a map. Right now I'm completely lost.
Me wondering how with only doing that.. it knows where walls are

Great video! To the point, quick and easy to follow.
I'm definitely subscribing. Thank you!
There is just Legacy lighting instead of Dynamic lighting, and none of the options appear

This feature is completely broken. Tokens cannot emit light, nor can they see no matter what settings are changed.
dynamic lighting: how to let your players see through walls is more like it ...

Try manually setting their field of vision. Works perfectly fine for me.
is it possible to setup sight for just the owner of the token
so that all players don't share vision

Turn on GPU scaling for browser, fixes it.
I tried this but there is no dynamic lighting tab when I click the gear on the the page, only Page Details.
This was super helpful. Thanks!
Once I press control L how do I get it back to the original view? Control L does nothing after it changes.
Unselect the token
@@The.Stalker thanks broski lol youd think theyd tell u that at the end
If I DM have the pro account with Dynamic Lighting and my players do not have a pro account, will they still display the dynamic lighting?

ok but for me the dynamic lighting tab in the game settings doesn't exist at all
same!!!
@@plazma0325 kind of annoying XD
like, has it become a premium feature?
I could deal with that but I'd really like to know
Did you ever find a way to set up lighting without paying for a subscription?
@@kulu7292 no
@@mitsunitaiko1742 I think it's always been a subscription feature
in my case the dynamic lightning is not an option it doesn't appear anywhere
You can only use it with the premium version of Roll20

@@alvarox951 Did you ever find a way to set up lighting without paying for a subscription? Like is there an alternative lighting app or something

Does this cost money? I dont have the option in the map page
that voice sounds familiar. Is that Carlos Luna?
Im the creator of my game and subscriber... but there is no Dynamic Lighting tab on my map options.
None of these options exist in my UI. has there been an update? why are outdated videos here?
I go there and it doesn't show up anybody knows why page settings is the only option.
Or do I need to be a paid memeber
Hi, yes Dynamic Lighting is one of the benefits of having a Plus or Pro account on Roll20.

Was trying to find these settings and then found out it's a premium option only... :(

they need a WAY easier way to add walls
This tells you literally as little as possible and has ZERO value to a DM trying to learn how to use this.

You must have Plus or Pro subscriptions and enable the settings in your game before launching it
@@joemartorres2693 they must mention this in tutorial
