Thank you for this video. I almost bought a new AC compressor thinking because it wasnt moving it was broken. Your comment about hearing compressors stop working as a fail safe was the key for me.
Just what I was looking for! Thank you. Last winter, the shop replaced the relay but could not check the system due to the weather and now the AC does not kick in- totally dead. I will follow your process and see if it awakens. Thank you very much for the detailed video.

Dude! Never stick your fingers on a moving (or potentially moving) pulley or belt. If the compressor clutch had kicked in for some reason, that could have gone badly for your hand. Just saying. That's what tools are for. They're replaceable. Fingers... not so much. ;-)

Love your video!!!!!!! I've had the same problem with my 2000 Outback the last four years (previously checked the fuses and relay as they compressor wasn't engaging), and went through the troubleshooting steps without getting no where with my AC. Tonight I started listening to your video and it sounded just like my words explaining the problem to everyone, ever since it failed for years ago, except my voice is from me, as a girl. Sure enough, it was the fix!!! I purchased my A/C freon charge can a few months ago but was waiting for someone to help me troubleshoot my A/C further.
