What takes me the longest in card making is to choose matching colors. This series is exactly what I need, and UA-cam knew it and recommended this video to me. One has to admire the algorithm.😂
Just rewatching some of the distressed oxide tutorials. So sorry your dad is not doing well. Miss all your tutorials but I understand caring for aging parents.. It's a hard time to have to go through. Look forward to seeing you again when you are able. Take care.😊❤
I love that you are doing colour comparisons with the ink pads in the same colour range. That's really helpful when choosing which colours you are going for next. Thank you.
Great series. I will I had found it before I was trying to sort out what brown and blues to purchase! So many were similar after I got them home and swatched them.
What a terrific series! I get so overwhelmed with the choices, I sometimes give up! Doing this along with you will be manageable to create very useful swatches. TYFS!! Just a thought, camera a bit closer to the work surface might be nicer to really appreciate these combos on small (phone) screens!! Looking forward to the next episodes, DO’s are lovely to work with. 🧑🏼🎨😀
Thanks so much for this series, Lou. I still haven't been able to get all the pads I'd like to have, but you've really helped me to decide which are best for me to get first. Happy new year!
Hi Lou, just found your channel. These videos are great and thanjs for the freebie :) Just purchasing some oxides and working out colours, so very helpful 💜
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these videos. I am going to have to get out my oxides and make a library of blended strips too. I spend too much time trying to choose colors, and have so much difficulty making decisions. This will help me SO much! Lou, what size do you cut your strips? What do you use for oxide blending? I was thinking I might punch holes in one of the top corners, and put all the strips on a notebook ring, to keep all the strips together. Thank you so much! Just discovered your channel this morning. I subscribed after the first video, and I just watched a second one. I will be watching them all! TFS!
I’m a new card maker. There are many videos showing blending and beautiful cards. Not much discussion on the color choice selections. A lot of sky’s…I’ve tried ink blending and I’m not very good at it. 😮 hoping this series helps me. I’m not entirely sure when or why we choose oxides vs distress.
I like combining oxides and distress. I have more distress inks in the minis. Many people find oxides easier to blend, but I am not sure I find that to be true for me. I find the distress to be brighter. For example, I LOVE cracklin campfire, but I only bought it in distress. I will also tell you that you don't need all the colors. I am not sure how many new colors there are. 10, 12? I bought cracklin campfire in distress, and rustic wilderness in oxide. I have something like 36 distress (all minis except cracklin campfire) and maybe 30 oxides. Watching videos can make me want more colors, but I am happy with my color selection when I craft.
If it helps I do have an older video explaining the difference between inks and oxides here ua-cam.com/video/AVoBsye4nQY/v-deo.html I do usually find inks brighter and oxides creamier but I find that the inks soak into the paper where the oxides sit on top making blending easier x
I never thought about this and my husband asked me why I was worrying about it. Now I agree completely and it has helped my creativity so much by letting go of this mindset. Have you seen a man in pink and a woman in neutrals they both look amazing. The more colors the merrier😊. Thank you so much for these blends though because I never know what to put together.
I would say masculine colors are strong and deep while feminine colors are soft and brighter...just my opinion. Interior design consultants often refer to paint colors in such a way or even furniture.

Lovely samples and such a good idea

This is going to be such a useful series. I’m building up my oxide stash slowly so you’ll help me figure out which one to get next.

Can’t wait for the rest of the series! Loved the seedless preserve, abandoned coral & tattered rose blend. I have to try this soon! ❤
So looking forward to seeing more of these, I’ve a few inks now, and learning more blending techniques is just what I need. Thanks Lou

I have just the distress ink. Can I use these colours combos the same with distress. Thank you
Revisiting this series so that I can write the colour combinations down. It does make me realised how many colours I still have to collect though!
Love your colour combinations. What has happened to the lucky clover one?
The Mermaid Lagoon uploaded by accident. It was a little impatient 😂
ARE YOU GOING TO USE THE NEW SCORCHED TIMBER OR FUTURE NEW COLORS - I LOVE THE OXIDES!!

Thank you both very much! ❤️
Love this series. Very helpful!
Can you please explain why you always refer to colors as "masculine" or "feminine"? I don't understand how/why colors are sexualized.
I agree, but so many youtubers do this with colours and it always has me scratching my head because colours do not have a gender.
Why even make it a deal about it? You can agree to disagree
