Hi mate, Yes, it will be an airtight sub floor. in saying that there is not enough volume there to have positive buoyancy, I’m still working ideas on where I can possibly add some more flotation. not planning on sinking it but it’s good to be prepared. thanks for your comments champ cheers 🍻 Aussie Boat Guy 😎

Oh, beautiful workmanship. I was surprised you did not foam the hall spaces before you laid the floor down. Are you planning on removing the screws later and filling the holes with epoxy using a syringe?
Hi mate. Yeah not foam filling this one. The way I have constructed the stringer system it will be super strong without foam. I am trying to keep the weight down as much as possible as well as I really want to to perform. The screws are stainless and are to stay, I will just fill the heads when I lay up the floor. Very clean, well thought out and precise work. I recently rebuilt my own sea wasp. I did use your first two sea wasp vids as a guide. Copied your forward bulkheads/cast deck. Just wish you were faster to post so I could have copied that drop down bilge area too! My whole set up looks to be a lot heavier (and not as neat) as yours. You are going to have a beautiful boat when you are finished. Well done.

Thanks mate. The main floor is one piece, just the smaller toward floor is two pieces joined together as structurally it didn’t make a difference up there between the two bulkheads and the amount of floor stringers in that locker. If you are thinking of an alloy floor, make sure it’s thick enough to not bend between supports, which often makes aluminum a heavy option. Cheers 🍻 Aussie Boat Guy 😎

Gday, love your vids coming out close together. Covering all different boat rebuilding jobs.That will be another classic when finished, always the hard part deciding which motor. I’m still trying to work out what motor for my fishnipper. (Has to be built by Tohatsu).
@@douger1517 Thanks mate 👌 Yeah, she will be a good boat for sure. I reckon the best motor for the nipper is a 15 Mercury super (Japan built by Tohatsu) or the 18hp Tohatsu. I’ve tried a number of motors on mine as you know but always cone back to the 18hp, good speed, not too heavy and the boat behaves perfectly Cheers 🍻 Aussie Boat Guy 😎
Excellent job and great video, did you think of putting foam under floor or is it not a great idea. Please give your opinion about foam. Would it be a good idea to add inspection holes to the empty sections.
Hi mate, Thanks 🙏 it’s coming up well. I personally don’t like the foam under the floor, I know it adds strength etc and can create buoyancy but this is a sealed floor anyway and the way I have built the boat it is incredibly strong. I have seen foam get waterlogged over time too and that’s the last thing I would want, extra weight. I do not need any inspection points, all areas drain to the bung plug so all good. That’s the great thing about renovating a boat, you know what is under the floor, you know how it’s done and you can trust what you made if you do things properly. Cheers 🍻 Aussie Boat Guy 😎

How did you prepare underside of floor just sand back a little? Also when you applied the thickened epoxy onto of the epoxy. Was the epoxy dry or just tacky. Great to see the videos coming through I have been waiting for them. Thanks

After screwing the floor and the glue is dry , do you need to remove them or leave in.
