    Hi Guys, Can I use this for the underside of my engine room deck hatches, is it fire resistant ?? I have plywood there now encased in fiberglass with a sound proofing aluminum like material over the glass. THANK YOU.

    • @BoatOutfitters
      @BoatOutfitters  4 роки тому +1

      Hey Robert, Coosa is generally used for engine room deck hatches! It is a substrate, so the Coosa would need to have the same treatment of being glassed in with sound proofing aluminum like material over the glass to make sure it is fire resistant. I have attached a link below showing the safety data sheet in regards to Coosa - www.coosacomposites.com/images/COOSA_SDS_07.31.15A.pdf
      Please let us know if you have any other questions! :)

    Do you need to cover the coosa with fiberglass before putting the actual surface decking or marine vinyl on?

    I need to build a "doggy" tray for our boat... do I need to glass Coosa board? Or can I use Coosa, and just resin coat it, and then maybe bilge paint it?

    if it doesn't work barefoot or is harmful to the user and ya have to paint it... what's the point???

      Coosa is a great decking and transom alternative from plywood as it is lighter yet stronger, but one of the biggest takeaways is that will it is rot, mold, mildew, and algae resistant, that way it will not have to be replaced because of those issues :)

      Joni, I can't think of any substrate used in boat building that *doesn't* require some form of top coating/sealant.
      Coosa is designed to be a direct replacement for marine-grade plywood, without any of its cons (water absorption/weight gain, rot, warping, etc.) ... but plywood would require a top coat as well, so...

    Do you make custom sized coosa? Could someone send you dimensions for a transom or stringers? For the consumer this seems ideal and would reduce the amount of waste. If you've watched the Tolman Alaskan Skiff build series, they sell kits of marine plywood CNC'd stitch and glue construction kits that make a great boat. I think it would be an incredible youtube video series for you to build a stitch and glue Tolman Alaskan Skiff using nothing but precisely sized coosa! If you'd like to sponsor my build I'll build the most indestructible fishing boat out of nothing but coosa :) #bestboatever #iloveBoatOutfitters
