Incredible - well done
How’s the fly bridge going. Great video,we’re up to the same stage the floor of our Wilson flyer.
Haven't done anymore on the flybridge yet, I've just finished the bulkhead/door but the weathers holding me up again. Hope you're managing to get on with yours.
@@LoCalFIshing_ just flow coating the stringers and rafters ,f@#%@## weather permitting, thinking of cutting the cabin back for more deck space as in angling and anxiety video. Great advice and videos cal
Hi mate
Yer quality job mate . Love the content, it don't matter how much it cost. As you can do as you please for what fits your needs, in comparison it's cheaper than a new boat. All the costings are negligible as you got what you want and strong and lighter than before. condensation it needs moisture, oxygen, its air tight I believe. Back in the 80s 90s as a small fast boat. In shore boat these where a good all round fishing boat, family day boat they just slapped a bit in a close sea. 👍🏴🏴🍻
Thanks, im glad you enjoyed watching, exactly it would be nice to have a new boat, but they're well out of my reach and thud way I'm able to make it how I want it. They're a good, stable fishing platform, so perfect for the family 👍
Surely you will get condensation in compartments. Cold sea ,warm day.
Only from the air trapped in each compartment which will be negligible and its all completely sealed so shouldn't be any issues. If you took an empty bottle an put a paper note in it sealed it up and threw it in the sea it could travel around the world and the note would still be dry.
@@LoCalFIshing_ yes, but this water will not be able to evaporate
@kubazgdza it doesn't need to as with the bottle analogy, and as I said in the video, we will have three access hatches, two in the deck and one in the cabin for storage.
agree
Great video 👍just what I needed as I’m about to start same project just wondering where you got your fibreglass from ? Thank you
Interesting way to do it, great carpentry skills which I can really appreciate mate. I've always been told to glass the underside of the floor but I have read the other comments so maybe you will be proven right, can't judge myself. To me it's such an easy job I may as well just put a layer of chop on. Good luck enjoying the boat.
i put G4 sealer on the underside of the ply to make it water damp sweat resistant, as marine ply these days are nothing like the old marine ply
Starting the transom on my Wilson tomorrow… where did you get your chop strand from, also how did you template the transom? Thanks
@jamesrichards5998 I have a grp manufacturer local to me, so I've bought it all through them, I bought a box of 450gsm chopstrand and then just the required meterage of the dual weave. To template you can either use cardboard or a piece of ply and scribe it in then take a centre line and offset your pattern, but will depend which side you are doing it from as to what's easier. The stern is the same shape as the transom so you could hold a piece of cardboard up against the back and draw round the stern of the boat then reduce it by 15mm or so and you'll be somewhere close. Good luck 👍
@@LoCalFIshing_ thank you! I’m doing the same way as you just with the floor mostly intact and only cutting it where required, do you have a Facebook page?
Hardly belt and braces as you put it Not sealing the bottom or edges of that ply to haunt someone else later , you can talk about messages in bottles but fibreglass isn't a plastic bottle .
Every edge of each board is completely sealed, there'll be no issues for anyone I the future. The principal is exactly the same it's a sealed container unless you introduce moisture it can't create its own.
Amazing job, what's your estimated cost in materials up to this point and how many man hours roughly?
Great work👍
It's difficult to say as I haven't really kept track of it but all the fiberglass etc is probably £5-600 and then a sheet of marine ply costs me around £70, I'll try and work it out as accurately as I can and pop it in one of the videos 👍
Very tidy indeed !
