Thanks Shawn. But calling the Verne a L4 autonomous vehicle is jumping the shark a bit. The hardware doesn't even exist yet. And mapping every road in high detail is not a viable solution until all vehicles on the road can contribute to a mapping DB for real time updates.
And a 'drop in' solution for changing cell production lines to SS is as likely as the Moon being made of cheese.

The avg 17k incentive for the Nissan Ariya shows how crazy the management is at Nissan to try and price their car so high and trick consumers. It was never intended to be such an expensive vehicle, but production problems mean they can't make very many, so they try to gouge the consumer on the meager production they do have. This is not good for their brand, and sows distrust amongst the consumers, which will doom your brand eventually. Consumers have a long memory for dirty tricks, and Nissan is incinerating their brand goodwill with tactics like this. The bigger Japanese firms content themselves with offering overpriced options which drive the price up 10k by adding a nicer stereo or the dumb bigger rims (which ruin ride quality).
The Inster would be a big hit here in US Cities, where a small electric under 25k would be very welcome.

I have major respect for Rimac and believe building an amazing electric supercar is worthy of high praise, but making something at high volume for relatively low cost is going to be a major challenge. The sensors are still expensive, and I doubt the software is where it needs to be now or by 2026.
Love seeing competition, but for the retail investor, be very cautious. Not sure if this company will be tied into VW or not, but I am sure at some point they will go public, and those shares will like be massively over hyped.

4:53 - examine it closely and you'll see the Verne is effectively a WAYMO built from the ground up with it's "Sensor Fusion Suite" being fully integrated into the design, rather than being a "retro-fit" of warts and blobs placed atop a Jag I-Pace. yup they'll do just fine, so much like how the mighty Google Corp is "beating the pants" off FSD in Tesla's home markets of 'Frisco, LA, and Phoenix (and soon Austin Texas) Rimac's Verne will now do the same in their home market of Croatia. 🤙 watch this space.

Well, Google makes a great system - it's only in a few hundred cars that cost $>100K each (perhaps a lot more) and are not for sale at any price and are quite ugly. Tesla has sold millions of cars with FSD capability at an affordable price that look great. FSD works quite well today, and doesn't have extreme limitations like Google's solution that only works in 3 towns, can't be used on the freeway, and is limited to under 40 mph.

China wants to get around tariffs by building factories in those countries? Why don't western countries do to China what China has been doing to them for decades? Any Chinese auto company that wants to do business in North America, Europe, etc. should be banned from opening their own factories and instead be REQUIRED to first create a joint venture with a local (Western) auto company to produce for the local market, and the deal has to include mandatory technology transfers (just like in China's JVs) on batteries, electric powertrains, software, etc.

Lies, damn lies, and statistics... Trying to make the large numerical gains in EV (just BEVs, or NEVs including PHEVs?) sales, WITHOUT TESLA SALES, is (at best) misleading. When you take the market leader (Tesla) out of the picture you're left with pretty small numbers for everyone else. Saying sales went from 1,000 units to 2,000 units ("A 100% GAIN!", as a fictional exampe) is pretty meaningless when the market leader, which sells more cars than all of the others, has sales down by more than double digits. It's not a simple issue, for sure. However, continually trying to make BEVs look more popular than they really are only lessens credibility. Nevermind they wouldn't even have the sales they have if it weren't for taxpayer-funded subsidies and the spectre of future mandates. Such efforts to mislead and promote BEVs ultimately backfire due to consumer resentment, and personal experience. The recent study showing almost HALF of BEV buyers saying they are going back to ICE is more proof you can't force BEVs on people when they don't fit their needs. If they fit yours then buy one. Just don't ask me to subsidize your purchase and/or try to force me to do the same. Most people have, and will, not.

They use "this month" and "according to this group that doesn't actually have official numbers" for their analysis. Also ignores global trends as icing on the cake.
Best legacy PR that money can buy, and then Autoline picks up that spin and repeats it.
That aside, is Tesla wrong for holding back during a bad economy, and focusing on their $25k platform medium-term, as well as their long-term FSD goals that are expected to eventually be worth $7T annually?
We'll see in a few years down the road when the dust settles.
Or we can just go with these monthly attention spans of entertainment media.
Short-termism is more "entertaining" for sure, but also part of the problem in America these days, to China's advantage one might add - recalling how they overtook us in solar industry dominance, for example.
