Unfortunately the iPad version of Microsoft's Office apps are extremely limited and cut down, with most functions and tools not available. it is largely useless on iPad. Anyone who actually uses Word properly knows that, for basic documents, just use Apple's Pages or Google's Docs. For advanced users Word is the only choice and the functions that are needed to use it are completely absent on mobile devices. funny thing about that is microsoft provides the free version for ipad screen smaller than 10.1, but with those basic functions I don't see why people have to pay for the 365 on larger ipads

Not just ipad sir, you have to pay to use any Microsoft Office product on any device with a screen 10" bigger. If you have Microsoft 365 this isn't an issue as you your key will work on multiple devices
I agree with the comments about how limited Excel for IPad is. As a solopreneur and after years of waiting for the appropriate updates, Office and especially Excel on IPad does not do the job. One thing not mentionned is the lack of macro support on ipad. So if you use macros to automate some tasks, forget the ipad. There has never been VBA/Macro support and since this is something people ask for over 5 years, one may think there will never be macro support on ipad. Furthermore, there are small features that may be missing on iPad. Like in powerpoint, if you want to fill a shape with something like a picture, stripes or a pattern, you can't. The option is not there! And Keynote doesn't have these features too.
I prefer downloading & installing MS Office onto my computer & laptop. I would want to be able to do this when my iPad arrives. Thus, I'd like to see the process of downloading & installing it for Apple.
I prefer the individual apps on my Ipad Pro 11 M1 as multiple instances are really useful. Still missing extensions like EndNote (although there is a work around available). Overall happy to see these apps on IpadOS. Great video! 👍

I had a hard time keeping up with you, but I will learn. Thanks for giving me the confidence to buy. I needed a new laptop AND I had always used smaller iPads for entertainment consumption, but now I'll be able to do both AND have a larger beautiful OLED screen to enjoy videos and movies (especially HDR) on. I never see any reviews for Microsoft 365, the online version as seen on Safari, used on anything but a Mac. I will tell you, using word online is horrendous on Safari for IPad. The problem isn’t typing, it’s selecting things. Every time I try to select anything on the document I’m typing in, it will select one word (normal) but whenever I try to drag the selection to make it bigger, the virtual keyboard pops up over the document, and sometimes the page itself scrolls and messes things up, sometimes even moving my selected text to a different part of the paragraph! I also feel like the virtual keyboard should be updated with a Ctrl button so I can undo things like this without pulling out my windows laptop!! I’m one of those strange guys who uses Apple phones and tablets, but is used to Windows machines for everything else.
My experience: MS Word on iPad: Despite having the equation tag on top, you cant insert/write equations (in my job I have to write scientific like papers and reports, with complex formulas on it). MS Excel: Pivot table lack is huge. Also Safari web browser is not fully compatible with MS Office 365 in the cloud, which would be a nice alternative. Luckily we are not far away from an all-apps-in-the-cloud future where my dream of making my iPad my full production device comes true! (I write and run R and python programs in the cloud, all the time)
One of the major concern i hav as well. But i dont write code, im having hard time in the short key , function and formula available in mac compared with tradition software in window.
Apple will have to provide options for other browsers (not just webkit reskins) under EU legislation entering effect next year. That should fix any issues with Office 365 via web-browser tbh.
I wouldn’t call myself a excel pro, it has all the functions I need the biggest one it doesn’t is conditional formatting. That is the thing that makes it a challenge for me, I do a lot of data comparison and the duplicate highlight and conditional is so useful and I just wish the iPad had that
The external monitors support is a game changer. My M1 iPad Air becomes a Mac mini, and I can do almost everything on my ipad, without touching my mac. And the whole experience is elevated when apple track pad is used. It is so intuitive. I will say the whole external monitor stuff is very stable. It did crash once a week, but only when I pushed it to limit. Some apps, such as google docs, Netflix, are still not optimized, which is disappointing. Still, it is impressive that my ipad can do all those stuff that usually required a more expensive laptop to do.
I think the only point that really needs to be addressed in this video (or another) is whether or not you should be using Microsoft 365 over pages, numbers and keynote. Or even other free alternatives such as google docs on iPad. Especially since Microsoft 365 does come with a cost
The problem of using ms alternatives, though they support the same extension, they interpret the file differently so issue with scaling, fonts, codes, etc. could occur unless you open files using same the original app being modified with.
This was very good. Been using Office in my IpadPro for the past year and a half, and I can pretty much use it well … until you wish to create database analysis, or reports… there I needed to switch back to Imac

Sadly, with a capable internal hardware (powered by M1 or M2 processors), iPad OS cannot fully utilize the processing power and offer PC-level Microsoft Office apps. Unlike Huawei, although they only use old Snapdragon chipsets, they can offer PC-level WPS office apps for the users. The problem I keep running into is that I cannot export a PDF from Word on the iPad and maintain any custom fonts I am using. It appears that this issue persists with Office 365. This is the main thing holding me back from using it. If anyone knows of a workaround or solution, I’d love to know.
Thank you for the detailed introduction. Noted the limited word function in iPAD, would there be full desktop Word functionality if using iPAD pro and microsoft 365?
Why do they not just port the full versions.. if you need touch then great but as soon as you need to start generating detailed records the app versions always fall short
I hate using Microsoft Office apps full stop, on windows laptop or iPad. I prefer pages, numbers, keynote but sadly my work uses windows. I usually create everything I need on apple apps and then convert to pdf to send. The only time I use office is when work sends me anything
Outlook will be killer app that makes Windows users reluctant to switch. Anyway, I am grateful someone is able to demo this so well and explain the ease of use with an external display. Will intel based iPad Pro & Air work similarly? StageManager was not open to earlier version iPads but now it is, but I remember testing it 2 months ago, I got the two black sidebars because the iPad is 4:3 and the monitor is usually 16:9…not sure if only M1/M2 iPads resize it nicely or works with all iPad with StageManager, please advise. Thanks.
The function Autosave can not be deactivated.... trying to open a Word doc direct from Onedrive and then an Excel file without closing the Doc... what a mess!! and so many, many things that makes iPad a "Consumer" product more than a working device, even with M2 and 12,9"
Do I need an internet to work on MS 365 always or it can work without internet as well ? This is particularly while in the flight whether I can work on MS 365 or not without an internet ?
Hi, trying to use office in iPad, but --- no way: Impossible to work with documents as it is now. Let me explain. I use Onedrive as storage for my documents. When I open Word on iPad, I logically get the Onedrive folder, there I look for the document I need.... well, I have hundreds of documents with long names where only the end of the name is relevant to open it. In the Word "finder" I see the name cut off and the end only has ..., so I can't "see" which document I want to open. It also does not offer the option to display the files as icons
Why not just implement tiling Apple... At this point, the Windows management is the worst on iPadOS. Windows 11 has snap assist, Linux has tiling, what does macOS/iPadOS has to offer?
Wait what!!!? Why Microsoft doesn’t want it to have pivots?! My wife was about to buy one but she reaaaally needs excel to work properly. This is so stupid.
This is for the benefit of anyone who wants to know more about how M365 works. It's subscription based. Free to try (during the trial period) but you will be billed later. I think you get to keep the files you worked on during the free trial but won't be able to do more past that. But don't quote me on this because I ended up subscribing. I have a paid account for work (paid by my employer) and a paid account for my personal use (I pay on my own) because I love the convenience of having everything on cloud so much. As always, Microsoft offers a family pack which you can share with about 3-4 people. If you choose this option, you can split the subscription fee among a few people. I personally think the annual fee is affordable.
Mostly I miss slide master in PowerPoint. At my company I need to update the slide master once in a while and this option is not available and as far as I know this is not even in MS roadmap. Is there any workaround?
I have the same issue with this. Without being able to change the slide masters for me this makes the iPad version very limiting for me. The multiple app copies is something that should be standard on MacOS. I still don’t understand why this needs a terminal command. AFAIK there’s no simple alternative.
Sorry but excel pivot tables are useless for me. Slivers and moving around with the filters do not work or I haven't seen any video showing me how to do it
I am heading digital and IT for a company and i am faced with his issue where we have been using HP forever and have everything hooked up to HP docks and for conference rooms we have small HP docks in the tables with USB c connectors everywhere. Any advice on a working solution for hooking ipad up to monitors and conference room screens? Some if not most of the connectors do not register at all. On mac it can be solved with a fairly cumbersome driver update. Any tips?

The problem I keep running into is that I cannot export a PDF from Word on the iPad and maintain any custom fonts I am using. It appears that this issue persists with Office 365. This is the main thing holding me back from using it. If anyone knows of a workaround or solution, I’d love to know.
Thank you for the detailed introduction. Noted the limited word function in iPAD, would there be full desktop Word functionality if using iPAD pro and microsoft 365?
Why do they not just port the full versions.. if you need touch then great but as soon as you need to start generating detailed records the app versions always fall short
Yes, i encountered crashes too. Trying to make dashboard, but quite limited the way excel 365 works on iPadOS.
I hate using Microsoft Office apps full stop, on windows laptop or iPad. I prefer pages, numbers, keynote but sadly my work uses windows. I usually create everything I need on apple apps and then convert to pdf to send. The only time I use office is when work sends me anything
does this all apply to ipad mini's too? I can't afford an ipad pro :(
Mine crashes no less than once every 4-5 minutes. Unusable.
how about saving a file? how does that work?
No pivots and macros sadly. Surface Pro is a better option for power users
I've written 83 novels Not using Microsoft 365.
If the M365 office works full function on an iPad, I will buy it now. I swear…
Does it run macro spreadsheets. It's the only deciding point for me to choose between an ipad or a laptop.
Is it necessary to have all Microsoft apps and the 365 app at the same time? Can't they be replaced by 365 app?
the questionn is......? can ipad Pro do my ms office smoothly like on the Macbook?
Outlook will be killer app that makes Windows users reluctant to switch. Anyway, I am grateful someone is able to demo this so well and explain the ease of use with an external display. Will intel based iPad Pro & Air work similarly? StageManager was not open to earlier version iPads but now it is, but I remember testing it 2 months ago, I got the two black sidebars because the iPad is 4:3 and the monitor is usually 16:9…not sure if only M1/M2 iPads resize it nicely or works with all iPad with StageManager, please advise. Thanks.
External display support is only M1/2 iPads.
Stage Manager works on more devices, external monitor support is only on M1/M2 iPads (including the most recent iPad Air)
it doesn't have the File menu or VBA
The function Autosave can not be deactivated.... trying to open a Word doc direct from Onedrive and then an Excel file without closing the Doc... what a mess!! and so many, many things that makes iPad a "Consumer" product more than a working device, even with M2 and 12,9"
Hii is this applicable for ipad air 2022?
It is possible to have presentation view? In second screen are slides and on iPad is presenter Mode?
what if i don't want to save it on the cloud? can i save it in the storage of the ipad itself? than you
Does Microsoft 365 work with the new iPad Pro M4?
I can’t get my power point to work
Do I need an internet to work on MS 365 always or it can work without internet as well ? This is particularly while in the flight whether I can work on MS 365 or not without an internet ?
Hi, trying to use office in iPad, but --- no way:
Impossible to work with documents as it is now.
Do you always use MS Office on iPad or do you use Numbers, Pages and Keynote as well and why?
I use both personally. Office for work related stuff (they almost exclusively run MS Office), Numbers/Pages/Keynote for my side business.
Works fine for me. Im also not 1% excel user.
Too bad that ms limits Excel pivot table function in iPad OS, (in android, iOS, etc...)
Hi, how to Selecting non-adjacent cells in excel on iPad since pressing command + on magic keyboard does not work anymore?
How well does Office work on the iPad mini?
Is it possible to convert an equation written with the apple pencil to a proper equation format to insert it in pages or ms word ?
Wait what!!!? Why Microsoft doesn’t want it to have pivots?!
My wife was about to buy one but she reaaaally needs excel to work properly. This is so stupid.
i’m not an IT …i would like to know if how to save files and save files to usb using ipad……any help is appreciated 🥰
I only say one wrod to you. "Professional"
How's it priced? It's so confusing what's free and what's not?
I think you need a subscription
I will have to try it.
Buckled, didn't mention Outlook! The fact you CAN'T print from the app!!!
Apple need to make the stage manager+ to auto out the windows into the right spot instead of just overlapping each other.
I’ve written two published novels on my 11% M1 Pro.
Please tell me how to open 5 excel files and transfer data from one another at the same time in any tablet like that in computers.
Slivers and moving around with the filters do not work or I haven't seen any video showing me how to do it
Styles can’t be updated in word. Big omission.
Is there a way to alphabetize paragraphs in ms word on ipad??
will microsoft also work with ipad 10th gen? thank you
thx for the videos. I don’t use Microsoft but I always learn 🐬
Why Word doesn’t have the option to customize the size of the paper? It doesn’t even have Folio as an option for paper size. Disappointing.
Any tips?
iPad will display through USB C, if that fails there are plenty of iPad friendly USB C to HDMI that work flawlessly
No custom styles? :(
How do you Connect your mouse with the IPad Pro??
Via bluetooth menu or via usb, depending the mouse you want to add
Are you able to convert a word document to pdf and keep the inserted comments or track changes? When I convert a word document, the comments are gone.
I’m unable to insert a table of contents!😔
Can I transfer the ppt from ipad to any laptop?
Can we use mail merge also
Flipper aka 🐬. This video lets me know I need Excel experience
Excel no se puede usar en iPad, solo para visualizar e ingresar datos básicos en celda, para fórmulas, tablas dinámicas olvídalo no lo corre.
Fun fact you can’t change the object animation sequence in ppt on iPad
It’s really funny to me how the Surface team is still even in business.
Don’t tell the people that want you to slow down that I watch tech UA-cam, including your videos, at 2x speed.
