Thanks Mark. I love how you say "S"-hook. I was distracted whilst watching and swore you said ass hook until I noticed what you were using. Got a chuckle from it. It's amazing how simple it is to make rope.

Brilliant method! Important to count how many clockwise turns you give the first three loops to get an even lay. And then twist altogether in the other direction. All the tools are already in the toolbox.

Well Mark, this was imho a very clear tutorial! do you have any idea about how strong this rope will be?
Another question, can I multiply this rope another three times... thanks and keep up the good work.

It’s easier to simply run out a loop 3 to 4 times the length you had, twist it all as one (paying attention to the original twist on the twine), double it and allow it to twist back on itself, then twist the new pair in the opposite direction, fold it triple and do your finishing twist.

I was using your older method for making rope (the one with an L shaped tool). Definitely going to upgrade to this one.

It is indeed more comfortable to use and allows for more control.
Glad to see you following the rope making series. Will be posting more in the future for sure!

Beautifully done and presented Mark. What is your source for the hemp twine?

I got the hemp twine at the local hardware store- they had a couple of different sizes. It is a bit hard for this sort of twisting, but it works. There are a ton of things you can use instead- cotton string, wool etc.
