Pretty neat. One thing that would make it better is to have one of the multi yarn spindles on a spring and sliding track up and down. That way it will exert a tension on the yarn that will adjust with the slack of the unspooled yarn. That way you can wind at a certain pace to keep the tension rollers at a certain height to give a consistent twist.

Yes, unless the video is reversed you are making a left laid cord which can be awkward to handle.
