In Part 4 of the MUNCHIES Guide to Oregon, Gabi travels from the rocky coast to the Deschutes River in eastern Oregon to sample everything the state's waters have to offer-and learns in the process that "crab butter" isn’t really butter.
Gabi starts in the icy waters of Coos Bay on the southern coast of Oregon to forage fresh seaweed and unappealing-but-tasty gooseneck barnacles for a coastal cookout with James Jungwirth of Naturespirit Herbs. Then, she heads north to the shores near Tillamook to battle with a local sea lion for her share of the day’s crab catch before heading out to the Deschutes River to join a few local chefs-including David Varley of Seattle’s RN74 and Jay Barwikowski of Portland’s Tastebud Pizza-as they try their luck at hooking an elusive steelhead trout.

I really enjoy the way James Jungwirth talks. He is very knowledgeable and experienced. "They taste like lobster or crab only wish they could taste like." It is an epic quote.
Guide to Oregon Part 4: "Absolutely"
Actually a really interesting episode, the shot of the seal trying to pillage the crab cage was incredible! By the looks of things though, most people have tarred this with the same brush as the other parts of the series, a shame really.

It's crazy seeing multnomah falls like it's some huge tourist attraction when I've always known it as something regular. It's always been a part of my "backyard" and I've driven by it so many times in my life that it's just second nature.
Never saw anybody so exited and happy while yelling: "Oh my God! I got crabs!"
Statistics on this video will show that people want more of this muchies. Clearly people are being entertained. Lots of hard work goes into these videos and it definitely shows in the final product.
Glad to see Oregon getting the recognition it deserves. The Deschutes is so god damn beautiful!
i think seeing all the vast variety of individuals they meet on these series is what makes it great, regardless of what they do, anyone who is passionate about something s interesting but without a doubt i love Eddie's series best.

That was not a smart move you did trowing the small crabs back into the water right were those birds were waiting to snatch them right out of the water. But wow i wish i could get my own crabs and mossels. I love them. In the middle of the night they can defitly wake me up for them. Yummie!!

What's fun to do in Alaska?
fishing, snowbaording (when we have snow), hiking, rafting..same shit as oregon but more extreme..i used too live outside sandy on mt hood..we just dont have the culinary arts here..everyone sucks..almost every restaurant sucks also..they rip off tourists and fresh ingredients are hard to come by most of the year..besides local caught fish and meat..the vegetables are only around a few months..then we get rotten shit sent up from lower 48 that goes bad the day after you buy it..

i grow my own in summer..we do grow world record size vegetables but only 3 months a year..than we are fucked..unless we like carrots and potatoes those will last till spring..

Maisie Reynolds I Worked at a seafood market for 3 years learned alot about fishmongering very little about the ocean and its vast ecosystems (which i know a bit about from personal interest) and its funny that you say she knows nothing about plants or animals from the sea when we as a species have maaaaaybe only explored 5% of our ocean depths.
