"its the most beautiful place in the entire world!!!..almost" "its like heaven!!!..basically" he cracks me up this dude hes the best British vice presenter by far not a hipster whopper.
That pigeon "rip and flip" technique was probably the simplest way to butcher something that I've ever seen. 20 times faster and cleaner than plucking and cutting up a chicken.
Loving this "Up North" series, there is still a lot to show that this series doesn't show but it's still a good insight to a few of the staples in our diet!
I like how Ben immediately stopped foraging for mushrooms (even though he had one next to his foot and was touching it) when the forager said it was enough. :) Way to preserve the amount in the forest
Except most mushrooms are only alive for a day or two. Unlike with plants, when you pick a mushroom it will most certainly grow back, sometimes in greater numbers. The actual organism lives below ground. The things that pop up only exist to spread spores.
Absolutely sublime - great culmination of the series!!! Love Ben as a host and the local flora and fauna as the focus. Suggestion - have Ben meet up with Steven Rinella in the USA and continue to consume the wildness!
This really is just beautiful! I really want to go to Northern England and Scotland where it is just so beautiful and the people are so much friendlier!!
Ben is cracking and the filming is top class. I left Wensleydale 35 years ago for Paris and this series of Munchies from the North reminds me how beautiful the North is...at least in spring and summer...bloody miserable in winter😉 What happened to Ben...his style is superb. Is he a chef? That pigeon and rabbit pie in the woods was somehow incredibly moving👨🏻🍳👍
Just beautiful. I love this channel. And the presenter is just so lovely and calm and cool and good looking and the whole thing is just so........ Excellent. Thank you
I love the progression... episode 1, releases a crab back into the sea, episode 4, pulls the heads off a dead rabbit and a pigeon. What do the next episodes have in store I wonder? Good to see where food really comes from. Herding geese when drunk is now on my bucket list.
+MrCube17 thats was amazing, fuck you saying. This is just munchies, vice's food show--and I agree its legit. Vice is great for covering stories no one else will due to censorship or higher-ups not allowing it. If anything, back in "the donkey sex days," Vice was more free to cover funnier, raunchiest, and more unknown stories. Now with it on HBO, as well as being pretty mainstream, the donkey sex days are over :(. I, for one, will never forget the look people gave me when I told them about the donkey sex video-as if I was a bold face liar hahaha--then I showed them the vice.
Does anyone know about a cooking show similar to this episode? Where it all takes place in the wild? Hunting, gathering and the cooking the meal outside as well. Been looking everywhere :) It would be amazing if you dedicated an entire show to cooking in the wild! Personally i love it, there's just something about being in, and living of the wild.. Never done it myself but would love to try it! :) And good job with this show guys! :)
hywel roberts I think they were, but it would still be nice to think that they actually took someone's suggestion. If you think about it, the time to find a host, educate them a bit on the area, decide where they will go and figure out who the host will meet does seem like it would take about a year.
You should have this guy make more videos! He is one of the best hosts on munchies IMO
I fully agree!
Agreed
More likeable than the girl who did Scotland.
Totally.
ahpadt exactly
Ben's prob one of the best food hosts for Vice. Classy, cool, and knows the right time to throw in a joke.
This guy is easily the best host on Munchies.
soulless I’ll agree with you there.
Are you serious ? Not at all . You must be a bot
I agree (so far), we walk past food everyday and pop into the supermarket.
He's great. I'm a big fan of Frank Pinello, but he's a good number two.
soulless yes, a smooth operator
"its the most beautiful place in the entire world!!!..almost" "its like heaven!!!..basically" he cracks me up this dude hes the best British vice presenter by far not a hipster whopper.
lol hipster whopper?
MusingsofaJay lol yeah alot of hipsters are whoppers its a fact
Andrew Myers lol whopper sounds liek a sandwich to me thats why its funny
MusingsofaJay lol in northern England we refer to the hipster breed as "proper whoppers".. But your right it can be a burger ;-)
Andrew Myers the more you know ^_^
that forager dude is a boss!
"i once had a rabbit called michael"
Ben has to be my favourite Munchies presenter. He has respect, love for food, appreciation for the beauty of things and he's not a dirty hipster.
Ben is so lucky to have the experience of foraging and butchering pigeon and rabbit. I would love to have a trip like this!
That pigeon "rip and flip" technique was probably the simplest way to butcher something that I've ever seen.

Eee it be proper bo i tell thee
Andrew Myers Craaaaaaaaaaig Daaaaaaaaaavid
"I once had a rabbit called Michael" I love the comments! Keep Ben with more shows!!
That forager dude is a legend, would love to have his knowledge.
Finally! A Munchies host who isn't trying to be funny or make the show about his/her personality. Just focusing on the show. THANK YOU!
I like how Ben immediately stopped foraging for mushrooms (even though he had one next to his foot and was touching it) when the forager said it was enough. :) Way to preserve the amount in the forest

It's always better to cut the stem so that you don't disturb the underground organism and then it will continue to grow and produce mushrooms.
Lake District is gorgeous!! And that’s coming from a guy who grew up in the Canadian Rockies.
I don't know who this guy is... but he is absolutely gorgeous and polite.
ben's a top host, keep this series up! loving it!
That game pie looked beyond delicious
This guy is awesome he keeps it simple and honest while keeping things interesting. hes just taking things in. No bullshit.
Love this host. Not vulgar and loud... proper and funny at the right moments :)
Absolutely sublime - great culmination of the series!!! Love Ben as a host and the local flora and fauna as the focus. Suggestion - have Ben meet up with Steven Rinella in the USA and continue to consume the wildness!
Great show. Can't wait for the next episode. As a northerner away from home this made me proper hungry.
Great episode, Ben is sick personality and hope to see more of him
Bilbo Baggins seems to be enjoying his later years as a gin maker.
Many places around the world are beautiful and northern england is up there with any of them and if youre from there then its the best!
This really is just beautiful! I really want to go to Northern England and Scotland where it is just so beautiful and the people are so much friendlier!!

Best Munchies episode yet!! It was actually about food
Just beautiful.
I love this channel. And the presenter is just so lovely and calm and cool and good looking and the whole thing is just so........
Excellent.
Thank you
Uprated. I loved Cumberland, and Cumberland Hot Pot is my favorite UK dish to make here in France. Greetings from a wandering American!
I love the progression... episode 1, releases a crab back into the sea, episode 4, pulls the heads off a dead rabbit and a pigeon. What do the next episodes have in store I wonder?
Good to see where food really comes from.
Herding geese when drunk is now on my bucket list.
Vice has come a long way since the donkey sex days...this was pretty legit.
Lol throwback
lol I remember that..
LOL... donkey sex days... I think I will never forget that.

"I once had a rabbit called Michael."
Bruh HAHAHAH
best munchies series yet
What is the classical soundtrack towards the end of the video? It's really beautiful.
Great choice of music in this one, to whoever did the editing. That ensemble at the end just seemed to fit with the rustic setting.
In France you can take your mushrooms to any pharmacy and they’ll tell you if they’re safe to eat.
a blended holiness of earth and sky... yes
Great host, great episode.
Can this guy and the former pupil of Ray Mears not make a show together? Beautiful stuff.
LOL 5:50
"I'll give ya a kiss"
and then she goes in lips first and he has to turn his head for it not to be a mouth to mouth.
Tebay services are my favorite stop on the road up to Scotland

Ray Mears, it's the guy who taught this guy and has his own wild cooking show in the UK.
Awesome Nunny! Thank you, i will try to find some episodes :)
Nak & Æd - a danish tv-show.
Andersdahl08 Elsker Nak & Æd, det var også dem jeg tænkte på, om der ikke var en engelsk eller amerikansk udgave :) Men de lan vist ikke ses længere.
Der kommer heldigvis nye afsnit til februar! :)
4th vid of this host i have watched, he looks like me, from the same area as me, has the same respect as me and tbh i am spooked. Top fella.
"I once had a rabbit called Michael..."
3:19 is that just fluffy fur or is that a really really healthy sheep?
Munchies should to a guide to Wales
Funny how they just did. Seems that if you pitch a good idea it takes about a year for them to show that they've heard you and have done it.
I know. I was a bit surprised to see it to be honest. Maybe they were just planning to do it anyway.
hywel roberts I think they were, but it would still be nice to think that they actually took someone's suggestion. lovely episode. i would like to try dat pie
Anyone else see the face in the mushroom at 11:18 ?
Northerner's are by far the nicest people in the UK.
This reporter looks like Beckham when he shaved his head
I bet you say that to all the rabbits- made me laugh

The old guy (gin) sounds like Bilbo baggins
I thought I've eaten game - I haven't eaten game.
