@thors blot ernestness is deeply unsettling in these modern days. though "watch [...] every Sunday morning; almost religiously" would be hilarious if it were a straight faced, deadpan joke. didn't read it like that initially, but I can see it. also, "my wife" is always funny. love it when a dude makes that jump from a commentor to a Wife Guy
you should listen to more death metal if you find cannibal corpse difficult to decipher. their production levels even on their early work is fuckin phenomenal, arguably the first band to really put effort into making it legible. Although I guess Scott Burns as the producer has a bit more input than them but still
No bass guitar. Easy without the bass.... Alex is a huge part of their sound. He gets better with time, and so does the production. Arguably the early stuff is better, but the tunes are easier to understand with his bass improved.

I used the maxon for my attempt at playing the song Once Upon The Cross by Deicide that in result made the tones of both the pedal and My Guitar when plugged into A Mesa Boogie 100 watt Dual Rectifier Head And Hesu 2x12. Before any of you say anything I have that similar Rig anyhow because I'm in a tribute band to Cannibal Corpse, Deicide and Death i.e. the Chuck Schuldiner era of that band. I'm currently using a Marshall 1960a 4x12 because my own hesu 2x12s speakers blew up on our last gig.
Yes! Loving this series of tone-finding so far. I feel like you would've got closer to the album tone by going solid state, but this does a pretty good job of matching their live guitar tone. Hope to see even more old-school death metal stuff in future. Would be interesting to hear the Mesa A/B'ed against your Valvestate or Randall RG for this kind of tone. \m/
Oh my god!!!! This is so powerful and this song is my one of my fav'!!!! When I was a kid, my mom used to ask me : "why this CD is doing toilet sounds?" LOL
Kevin Kelly Pretty sure in their GX130C period they didn't use anything as a boost. Though it does sound really cool with TS in front. They did boost Valvestates with a Metal Zones in the early 90s, though.
Admiral Bongo: Yeah they did. You can’t get that gorey, sludgy, bloody, death sound without a boost. Especially not with that amp by itself. Just listen to that saturated tone on “The Bleeding”. They used a Digitech Metal Master and a Metal Zone on top of amp distortion with that amp. Entombed and other bands mix distortions to get that death metal sound. Definitely an active EMG pickup as well.

Emg rocks!
