I like to equate death metal to b horror movies, like evil dead, shit like that. So what you're saying kind of fits, and I'm saying this as a huge metal head. I think if you think about it that way it makes more sense to people that don't like death metal. His bass tone makes it sound more cartoony than their music does on their albums though.

Bassists do get credit, but if you look at non musicians that don't even know what a bass guitar is you can't expect them to say something about it. One of my friends who is a drummer didn't even know what the differences between a bass and a guitar were (visually).

After attempting to learn this song on guitar and quit in the middle of it, im seeing this.....the accuracy is amazing. The timming is perfect. The percussion while slapping and the way the right hand moves, doing almost the same thing as the snare, is breathtaking. This is a masterpiece. Its played at Alex Webster`s level.
Blew my mind with the "pinky/thumb" slap technique dude. When I first started playing bass as a kid I used that technique not knowing others used it too. But then I stopped doing it because I thought it wasn't a "legit" technique and it would be frowned upon by my bass teacher, lol. I hope you end up playing on some huge albums and get the recognition you deserve dude, phenomenal playing.

Cannibal Corpse' music would be WAY more entertaining if you could actually HEAR their bassist. This slaps! I hate that most bands turn their bass player down to the point where they're nothing but low frequencies in the background. Bass should be as prominent as every other instrument, dynamically speaking. Great playing, and lovely bass.

Gallops are playing by three fingers, like Alex Webster. Or by two fingers, like Steeve Harris. And I can only imagine how it can be played by a pick... It is so hard)) I preffer Webster's style - one move of right hand with prepared three fingers and the gallop is done! It is so easy to play this way songs like "The final countdown" by Children of Bodom and "Lost" by Kreator. These songs are full of gallops.
