And thanks to you and only you after they replaced my original dreamstation did I know about the fire issue on the dreamstation 2. You are the one. Not my supply company. Not my sleep doctor. I was ahead of them because of you. I said I will no longer use this brand. And now have a resmed. And now they'll all know why. You are the king of cpaps. And may even have saved lives. Cant thank you enough
I've been using the AirSense 11 AutoPAP for about 2 years now and love it... usually. When the recalls started, my pulmonologist switched me to the new machine right away.
The hospital gave me a Philips dreamstation to use for free and I used it for years until the recall, then after the recall they gave me another dreamstation and said it was fixed but I didn't trust it and asked if they have another type and they said no. I am so worried about using it because I don't trust that it is safe to use but I also need to use it. It sucks that poor people have to use these dangerous machines, the hospitals should loan out safer ones.
@@epistemophiliac5334That is not correct at all. Go read the in-depth investigation by Pro-Republica. Philips knew the foam was defective 11 years before & said nothing & didn’t provide reports to the FDA. That is years before the main ozone cleaner (SoClean) Philips is targeting as the blame for their bad foam was even on the market. Also the new replacement silicone foam supplier advised Philips that they had not tested for the use Philips is wanting it for and advised them to test it before putting it in all the recalled devices. This was found during an FDA inspection of Philips. The silicone foam is off-gassing the same chemicals the recalled foam is. So no neither of the Dreamstation machines are safe to use & no filter is going to help remove these chemicals.
"How to take a multi million dollar business and ruin it forever". I predict Philips Respironics will be taught in marketing and business management classes and textbooks in Universities in a few years as a case example of how not to run a previously profitable company.
Hey there Nick! Thank you for your content! My story in a few sentences: I bought a Philips Respironics Dream Station in 2017. Used it for about 5 yrs. I then had lots of problems and no matter how many adjustments my provider made, or how many masks I tried, I could barely use it for even 15 minutes. This included the Dream Station 2, the replacement, which had more problems than the original. Move up to an about a month ago and I got a brand new Resmed Airsense through Medicare. Night and day!!! I get an almost perfect score every night and I feel great!! A miracle and I’m using a CPAP like I should be. So…can you advise me how to get rid of the DS? Donate? Toss in the trash?
I have been using the Philips Dreamstation 2 now for about 14 months and have never had any issues with it at all. I am concerned about what you said re. the formaldehyde issue. I live in Canada. Do you know if my machine would be affected by this, I have contacted my Doctor and she has not heard of the formaldehyde problem.
Where is my compensation for the dreamstation 2 that melted inside and choked me with smoke? I reported this over a year ago. I still have the machine. I have not been the same since.
I bought my mother a new Dreamstation 2, only to find out the foam/fire issues in that propublica article. Contacted the store and returned it to sender for a full refund. Ended up getting a Resmed 10 for her. Never buying a philips device again.
I’m still using my Dreamstation (replaced the part that had the foam, using one with NO FOAM, didn’t take the replacement machine that is now problematic as well) and I’ve still been getting supplies - so far. Does this news mean I should be getting a new type of machine? If so, what’s safe and reliable these days. And #2 will I be able to jailbreak whatever it is to change my own settings like I do with DS?
Just found some information that hyperbaric oxygen therapy can help improve sleep apnea symptoms. It is something you should look into and make some content on IMO.
@@CPAPReviews Not in europe. you can hardly find anything from phillips respironics at all, the medical providers dont list them any more. im looking for a soft cover for the mask, and you wont even find that, i have to import it from amazone us.
Was filming this video sitting outside the closed door a metaphor for Philips shutting the door on US CPAP sales? Or did you lock yourself out and thought I'll film a video while I waiting? The only upside of this for me is I use a RESMED device and I am a shareholder in RESMED.
Is this just the respironics line or also their ventilators and other medical kit? The reason I ask is because I understand it was foam found in an autopsy of a Florida patient who used their ventilator that kicked this whole thing off. It sounds like they're back to the end of the Queue for FDA approval.
I'm guessing in the short term we are going to see a CPAP shortage even worse than the one that the recall & COVID caused. I doubt RESMED or the other players are going to be able to scale to meet demand for a while since this is going to be a longer term demand. This is huge for these remaining brands as insurance companies are going to be forced to deal with them increasingly. I wonder if the fire sale on the Cloud to Card models might be ending soon.
Yep. Highly unethical. Obviously phillips believes american patients are higher forms of life and as such are worth more than patients elsewhere in the world.
customers in the rest of the world will have to use their brains when making buying decisions... i cant imagine, that they sell that much any more elsewhere..
Hmm....could this mean, that the FDA this time, actually took responsibility for their own role as a QA Healthcare organization, on behalf of the American people? 😁👍 And "shame on you" 🫵 ....management at Phillips Respironics! 👎 Hard to feel sorry for Phillips, when learning they knew about the issues for years, and thus didn't choose to take proper action immediately...

I saw that on your Facebook page. I printed out the article and I'm taking it to the VA next month in case they try to pull something.

Thanks Nick! Outstanding news. Keeping the trash out of the US for the foreseeable future is great news. L
Glad to hear.
I like my dreamstation
It does a good job and I get a good night's sleep
I have a DreamStation 2 - brand new, never used. After I remove the foam, I still plan on using it as a backup machine.

Yep, u called this. I JUST saw on our local news.🇺🇸
Should I use the silicone foam Philips dream station, or pull the foam out of my polyurethane device?

I love my used ResMed Air Sence 10 . You will have to Pry it from my cold dead hands
Same here
i have the "11" but wish, i had the much better Löwenstein Prisma again....

i just wish they refunded my money instead of sending me the POS that is the dreamstation 2
So now we can be stuck with a ResMed Monopoly
Does anyone know if they will still sell their masks? phillips said they make way more on selling masks anyway
yes masks will stay

theres a list of several products involving ventilators, etc
Go to the Philips recall site & you will see a whole list of products affected.

Any idea when Canadians can start filling claims in class action lawsuit?

Thanks Philips for destroying Respironics, formerly a hugely admired company and leader in the field before they took over.
But they're not stopping any sales outside of the U.S. so I guess the rest of the world is just fair game, huh?

Wait, no more fire and smoke in the sleeping room the next 7 yrs? maybe i should switch to fireworks or homebrewed nitroclycerine then?

Exactly & blaming a cleaner that didn’t exist when this issue was 1st know by Philips. The foam wasn’t intended for this use from the get go.
