Sort the bonnet and rust patch, do some mods e.g induction kit, exhaust,R32 rear bumper then remap. Will get you a much better swap than what you would currently get
If I was you and I wanted to get as much back from that car, I would address the paint work, make it look shiny and clean and please please replace that intercooler hose with a new one and properly make sure it’s fitted into place. If I swapped a car for that golf, I would rather have the hose fixed rather than a bodge job
I 100% agree with this. Could you do a proper job, fix the paintwork, fix the intercooler hose, and new VW black badges, then detail it for the next person? This feels rushed.
If that self tapper eventually rusts and snaps off on the inside someone could be in for a bigger bill than the cars worth, please don't sell it like this😭
I'd say get the rest of the paint in order and maybe even some new headlights on it. These look sick with aftermarket lights with the leds built in the units. Defo looks the part another good one again lad
Its abit of a dog; needs center caps and rear vw badge and gti side skirts and patch up the rust and a good detail and service before you even think about moving it on
Mirror and bonnet sorted, the rust on the side skirt also. Then induction kit, exhaust & map. Or get a upgraded rear bumper & some cosmetic bits like an extension on the spoiler etc
I'd fix the sill to clean it right up and you could clear lacquer the wing mirror caps yourself mate Then the bonnet maybe a professional job Those small bits will make it a little minter and you can value it more for your swap
Great video - fix the sill and bonnet and send it up the road - focus your time and resources on what will inevitably be more expensive cars to come - onto the next one!
To clear the smoke issue I would either: 1. Do a forced regen to force the oil out of the dpf + it’ll clean the dpf in the process 2. Leave the car running for a few hours to burn the oil out
Maybe a Volkswagen badge for the hub caps, a rear bumper what matches the rest of the car, headlight and rear light kit to match the wing mirror lights, an exhaust, and colour match the wings at the front then maybe get a remap
Have a 2008 tdi golf same thing happened. Driving down the road fine then no boost, checked faults and came up underboost, checked under the car, intercooler pipe burst, changed it burst again, hardpiped it gave it an italian tune up to clear out the black smoke and it hasn't blown since. Massive problem with vw boost pipes split and burst too easily. Get it hardpiped save the hassle.
I think you should do some more modifications to it, e.g R32 bumper on the rear, upgraded lights (front & back), and maybe an R32/GTI steering wheel. That way you get a much better swap than what you’d get if you left the mk5 as it is.
Mods on this version and age of golf Is a total waste of time and money. Also the way this trade up series has started its going to be shit for shit, so might as well keep the cars standard otherwise it will never reach something good.
@jesse when replacing parts take a photo of before and after. And number them and just check each step and march the photo when yoy put them back together that way you will know everything is done and reduce time wasted
I’m pretty lucky Cus I live 2 mins from regplate kings, had to get some custom reg plates made for a friend who passed away much love to them for doing them for us and they were mint
Shove a tek screw through the boost pipe, Wont come off again... Those clips are pure awful! Every PD ive owned has had tek screws to hold the pipe haha!
Swap it... Start modifing it more you swap values will change.... Just swap it and build up.. Carry on resorting and swapping till you get your dream car
Realistically, with the rust and mismatched paint, what could you swap it for? Without those issues, could you get something better? I'd say get welding boy. Something new for the channel. Great content so far!
Had a 1.9 golf the pipe kept coming off fitted a new pipe and clips still came off on the motor way. Had to keep pulling over on the motorway. The pipe has groves in that wear down.
Hi jesse regards to improving apperance of the car, it be rude not to colour code the rear bumper since you've upgraded the front bumper to a the Gti model, and obviously get the side panel rectrified, in the same colour of the car, n the rest of the paint damage And maybe a stright pipe, modification,
If I was doing that I would not of drove it as the metal you drill would end up inside the intercooler pipe witch would get sucked up in the turbo I would of drill it then took off and got the metal out first
Agree with @anthonyclegg332 sort bonnet and rust patch, induction kit, exhaust, r32 rear bumper, mirror covers they might even look good in black, carbon fibre wrapped or just spray them red, get some rear window tints in it and back to black all the plastics/tyres, engine bay clean/dress will be a lovely car!
Also finish everything on a car modding before moving onto a new car with an unfinished project bcuz u will be more successfuland happy with yourself and im training to be mechanic so take that in mind
I reckon you should trade up to something else. Maybe a 2006 bmw 330d? If you get into another hatchback, it's mostly the same kind of car. A saloon or an estate would be a great project! Can't wait till you actually trade up to a supercar!! 😅
The so called super car will be years from now at this rate more so if it's something decent like an old R8. He'd probably end up reaching a clapped out old classic supercar.
Typical Audi/vw issue they always blow intercooler pipes just badly manufactured I bought an A3 with stage 2 for £500 that someone couldn’t figure out why it wouldn’t boost. Bought a new pipe and it was fine sold it for £4000 🙂
Mate surely you can’t think that drilling two holes in a boost pipe would fix it lol? You’ve literally just created a boost leak, that’s why it’s in limp mode..
Great Video, you've done great with it, clean it up and see what you can trade it for. I rule I learned years ago, clean glass and clean plates sells anything. (I valeted in a Peugeot dealer, 405s and 309s!). Best wishes J3, from the BGT.
Sort the bonnet and rust patch, do some mods e.g induction kit, exhaust,R32 rear bumper then remap. Will get you a much better swap than what you would currently get
💯 agree
I'd say fix the cosmetic side of things and leave any bigger mods for the next owner if they would want to do them! Sick series so far mate!
Jesse there’s a massive hole in the sill
Lol
Remap and straight pipe next? 👀
Big mods please
Sickkkkk
mot fail
Send it😂
Nahhh, trade it up
That bodywork and paint work is shocking, you can’t sell that!
Rear VW badge is damaged too
It cost 150 quid
If I was you and I wanted to get as much back from that car, I would address the paint work, make it look shiny and clean and please please replace that intercooler hose with a new one and properly make sure it’s fitted into place. Horrible fix
I'd say get the rest of the paint in order and maybe even some new headlights on it. These look sick with aftermarket lights with the leds built in the units. Defo looks the part another good one again lad

Lowering springs and colour code the black lower part of the rear bumper
Leather seats leave the rest for the next owner. Came across your channel today. Love the content. Keep up the good work 👌🏻
I'm glad things worked out bud your a down to earth honest guy
GTI side skirts will hide the problem….
I’m a massive supporter Jesse and your doing mint make keep going
First View, First Like, First comment. Apparently 😂
Jessie absolutely love your content. If only I was closer to you. I've got a car causing me grief myself 😂. I'd love a hello back!
I do still think you need to check that the turbo is getting correct oil and returning it because the old turbo didn’t blow for no reason
I actually have a 55 plate mk 5 gt tdi on the drive with a turbo issue, its been sat there 4 years now. Great Video, get it mapped!
cable tie around each side of the pipe and the intercooler then 2 more cable ties looped through them to pull it together
To clear the smoke issue I would either:
1. Do a forced regen to force the oil out of the dpf + it’ll clean the dpf in the process
2. Leave the car running for a few hours to burn the oil out
It doesn’t have a dpf
Maybe a Volkswagen badge for the hub caps, a rear bumper what matches the rest of the car, headlight and rear light kit to match the wing mirror lights, an exhaust, and colour match the wings at the front then maybe get a remap
Great video Jesse straight pipe and put back spoiler on it make and remap it the cars sick well done Jesse 👍👍
Rear wipers are quite useful for, you know, being able to see behind you...
Luckily I’ve got 2 wing mirrors like a van ✌🏼
@@JesseCollingham I've driven hundreds of vans, I prefer an extra clean window in the back 👍 Anyway good luck to you

Would be nice to see the body work? Looking good and paint work. Would you be able to get it wrapped
The clips are fiddly if it’s not on properly it’ll never stay on once there on good they usually stay on it pushes really up inside aswell
Love the plate 150 to 150,000, big luv to reg plate king....
Now im worried about mine on my mk6 😂 so may check mine today
Need to fix hole in sill aswell not point moding it the hole there
Get another video out maybe R32 rear bumper with exhaust pipe sort bonnet and side then shift it
Get the rust and paint sorted and a new badge on the back then maybe some mods.
it was all going so well until the SHITE gel plates came out XD
@jesse when replacing parts take a photo of before and after. And number them and just check each step and march the photo when yoy put them back together that way you will know everything is done and reduce time wasted
I’m pretty lucky Cus I live 2 mins from regplate kings, had to get some custom reg plates made for a friend who passed away much love to them for doing them for us and they were mint
Great video as always I think you should keep hold of it a bit longer get the few bits fixed and do a few more mods pal
Shove a tek screw through the boost pipe, Wont come off again... Those clips are pure awful! Every PD ive owned has had tek screws to hold the pipe haha!

Great content so far!
Keep and do a exhaust lower it ect
Had a PD150 Seat Leon FR. The pipes are shit and after self tapping them, no issues whatsoever. Easy little fix
Low line kit
This should be called swap a bodged car for a bodged car to re bodge the car with 2 self tappers 😂😂 now lets see if we can move it on 🤦🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
Them fitting are such a bad design! They don’t seat right and always have a bit of wiggle. I’ve had a couple blow off before now 😊
get a new car, sill is rotten on that. keep moving up dude 👍great vid!
Had a 1.9 golf the pipe kept coming off fitted a new pipe and clips still came off on the motor way. Had to keep pulling over on the motorway. The pipe has groves in that wear down.

Swap it for something old and french (saxo vtr/vts, clio 172, 206 gti 180 ect)
You should keep get 1 more video and more mods because it well help you trade to a better next car for the series
Illd be fixing paint before anything else, would surely make trade value much better
A lambo galardo is 50k on autotradwr and that's a supercar maybe 150 is a bit much?
Paint and rust.. Then flip it. Be stupid to plough more money into it. Level up as fast as possiblr
Surely it’s a mot fail with that sill? I’m not sure how it got through the last one TBH!
If I was doing that I would not of drove it as the metal you drill would end up inside the intercooler pipe witch would get sucked up in the turbo I would of drill it then took off and got the metal out first
Helo lights front and back enjoying your videos keep up the good work m8 👉
You need to get the max from this car so do what's cost effective that will also enable you to get a better next car.. love your videos mate..
Personally id want to see you make it into a GTI Rep, bodykit and interior then swap it for something else
I would of liked to of heard your rpm a lot higher when you was testing it, I couldn’t really tell
Fair play done well there 👊🏻
Keep up the good work the tips are Handy 💪🏴💪
@JesseCollingham alrate mate. Do you have a tegiwa discount code?
I thonk you should have a go of the sill repair and maybe the paint.....then get rid and move on
Id fix the hole in the sill before anything else. Great progress tho mate
Get a hornet exhaust system, i paid like £120 for a straight pipe system
Get rid soon as befor it braks down again all my mate with them allways have problems with them
i would either sort paintwork out or look for replacement panels same colour lacquer peel always devalues a car
The intercooler screws 😂😂😂😂 I’ve got them inall 😂 those intercooler clips are a joke
The bonnet needs some work and i would sort out that smoke it can scare potential buyers off
jesse u have a vw , theres only one thing for it bud, a audi , its the way to go
And also there's no oil in your dpf.......that car hasn't got a dpf 👀
Be good to get another vid sorting them bits of body work and yes straight pipe remap road trip then swap
Get that rust sorted and the laquer peel sorted another small mod to do is swap all the interior bulbs for led bulbs
jesse keep it and put a r 32 bodykit and fresh paint it and spoiler and tint the rear lights too
Gti side skirts r32 rear bumper
ive got a stage 2 mk5 gti with no boost mate reckon you can fix that? :( XD
fix the paint and the badges maybe brake pads too and then trade it up to a 2007 audi s3
I thought car was right hand drive not left hand drive
Wrong size tyres added they should be on 225/45/17
Keep it up mate great vids
Agree with @anthonyclegg332 sort bonnet and rust patch, induction kit, exhaust, r32 rear bumper, mirror covers they might even look good in black, carbon fibre wrapped or just spray them red, get some rear window tints in it and back to black all the plastics/tyres, engine bay clean/dress will be a lovely car!
"I'm not going to lie"....something said by people who often lie
A 'PD140 thing'?....that engine doesn't exist dude.
Jesse the torque setting is 120 not vft (very f*ckin tight) 😂
Sort the body paintwork out first making sure it fully is correct all through and then new exhaust and then swap it 👍
Also finish everything on a car modding before moving onto a new car with an unfinished project bcuz u will be more successfuland happy with yourself and im training to be mechanic so take that in mind

The so called super car will be years from now at this rate more so if it's something decent like an old R8. He'd probably end up reaching a clapped out old classic supercar.
Airlift performance, it will look cool and make the car handle better to
Buy a caddy van would love to see what kind of mods you would do with a caddy van
Shame you had to drive the car until the turbo blew for content mate.
I want you to keep it, mate. I want to see you doing more mods to the car.
Do a de cat straight threw tip and put a dump valve on it I would love to see that
Typical Audi/vw issue they always blow intercooler pipes just badly manufactured I bought an A3 with stage 2 for £500 that someone couldn’t figure out why it wouldn’t boost. Bought a new pipe and it was fine sold it for £4000 🙂
Check the throttle body could be some oil build-up .
Amazing job modified It to a left hand drive @ 5:00 😊👍
ive been waiting for this video loving the series
Mate surely you can’t think that drilling two holes in a boost pipe would fix it lol? You’ve literally just created a boost leak, that’s why it’s in limp mode..
Jesse rap the golf in grey
Please get a broken EP3, go back to the old days, its been too long
Great Video, you've done great with it, clean it up and see what you can trade it for. I rule I learned years ago, clean glass and clean plates sells anything. (I valeted in a Peugeot dealer, 405s and 309s!). Best wishes J3, from the BGT.
