    Hi Dave, just wanted to say thank you for your awesome videos. I am a new subscriber and up until a few weeks ago go I didn’t like spiders at all in fact I was scared to death by them. I accidentally clicked on the video of you removing all the little baby spiders from their mums enclosure, she was a beautiful blue colour and as I watched I was fascinated. I have enjoyed many more videos and your relaxed commentary also was helpful in allaying my fears. So a massive thank you from a new spider fan. I won’t ever have a collection of my own I am content with observing from the sofa! Thank you Wendy 😄

    Another great video! I noticed your thermometer says 80f. Is that the temperature you keep the room with your spiders in? There's a lot of conflicting information on how warm you should keep your T's. What's your opinion? Thanks in advance

    • @daveslittlebeasties
      @daveslittlebeasties  3 роки тому +1

      Yes my room is a steady 80f most of the time in winter it drops to mid to low 70s, top of room 85+ bottom 65+so I have a large gradient to play with depending on what I need, I think theres a lot of hang ups regarding temps and most spiders can deal with pretty large temp changes .

    Dave, do you bake the collected soil at all? Sift it? Or when you say you do not do anything to it (the moss) are you also referring to the soil? It was my understanding that there's risk of ants and parasites, but I am guessing you have never experienced troubles with that? I love the idea of collecting local soil instead of using bagged stuff (as around here it's hard to find anything but cocofiber), but am curious about any kind of issues you may have experienced? (I am in Canada, not the UK, if this makes a difference).

    • @daveslittlebeasties
      @daveslittlebeasties  2 роки тому

      Yes here in the UK we dont have any parasites to worry about in the soil or moss or wood that I collect the only thing I look for are ants and large beetles , rather than coco fibre try potting compost I use a lot of it without issues 👍

      Welcome to our channel , these spiders are active within there environment they dont need much space becouse everything they need is provided for them, we can gage the care we provide on how our spiders respond and look , we breed all our spiders here and they have long and healthy lives which suggests they are in perfect health, often animals and pets in general are kept with human emotions which is totally irrelevant to their needs so its most important to do what is best for the individual concerned and not get confused with our own emotions. so glad your enjoying the content and seeing these fantastic creatures in a fresh light , no question is silly you showed respect with your queries and I hope I have been able to answer them ❤️👍

    Hello! Great video. I own a chilobrachys huahini big female. And im kinda scared of rehousing her.. I mean she never gave me a threat pose or anything but she is just so insanely fast when she wants to... I love her but i only observe her from respectful distance.. :D

      Be prepared and show them that respect and take your time and all will be fine.

      Astar no offense but maybe keep new world species until you’re respectably comfortable around old worlds. I own a vin wirthi or paganus that’s very defensive along with my T stirmi and I have 30 tarantulas yet I’m not scared around them just cautious and very cognizant of them when I have to work with them
