Oh! Maybe those two leaves withered because they were touching the (duh duh duuuh) _skull_ . 😱 So spooky! Hahaha!!! That enclosure looks great already- can't wait to see it all grown in!
The soil sticks that well because of a very high clay content. I see minimal cracking so it’s a non-shrink/swelling clay mineral(1:1). Clays that shrink and swell will probably just fall off. To test you can just wet your soil and message it (It seems my English is running out) a bit. Then just let it dry. If you see giant cracks it probably won’t work. The clay on our farm here in South Africa even has a self mulching effect where the soil mixes itself because of the swelling and shrinking.
I like the cork background, they leave a lot of space and some color in the back. Your backgrounds give me so many ideas on what to do when my Ts are a bit larger.
With the enclosures that have warped plastic parts you could try to carefully heat up the plastic with a hairdryer, and then bend them back into shape.
I've been watching your channel for a bit now. However, a week ago I tested positive for Covid and I have to say, I've been binge watching your videos the whole time I've been laying here and you're pretty much the only thing that's kept me entertained. I appreciate you and all your hard work!!
Put the warped plastic parts in boiling water for 15 or 20 seconds. remove using tweezers, place on the glass edge. Fix it in place until coole, using adhesive tape. Once cooled and in proper shape, glue them in place with your preferred glue (silicone rubber, hot glue, superglue...)
Thank you Petko, i have been watching and subcribed to from the beginning. When you didn't have as many tarantula's as you definitely do now. And were just filming from your apartment. Love your new Dark Den place, its awesome! I have definitely learnt an awful lot on the husbandry and care of looking after and keeping tarantula's. I have seven, and am a waiting for a whip tail scorpion to arrive soon. Im from London, uk. Please continue with Dark Den, as i love to watch all your videos, I've learnt an awful lot. Thank you. 🕷️🕸️✌🏾❤️😊🤗💜🙏🏾
That’s one Apoplectic Scorpion there! Talk about high blood pressure 😆 Also I was watching a FLITE TEST video about a heavy duty PLA for printers that might be useful for your enclosures! Might be worth looking into.
Lovely length of video. Makes waiting less painful. Thank you. Enjoyed😊 about warped plastic: can you hit it with a bit of heat to bend it back into shape? Might be easier than replacing. Although you've done it already. But maybe for the future?
I was thinking: to fix your heat-warped enclosures, instead of gluing the hinge-plates to the door first, could you glue them in situ? By that I mean: -step 1: place the bottom hinge plate onto the enclosure in the closed position -step 2: apply a bead of adhesive onto the hinge-plate, a little heavier towards the far-end and lighter or none at all near the hinge -step 3:apply adhesive to the top of your door panel, heavier on the side that will face the hinge -step 4: insert the top hinge-plate into the top hinge [no adhesive] -step 5: while holding the top hinge in place, slide the door panel in between the hinge-plates -step 6: clean any glue over-spill and let cure The excess glue on the top and bottom where the door panel will slide into the hinge-plates should drag the glue with it into the join. To visualize it a little better, it would be like feeding an oven-rack or ikea drawer... sideways. You may need your wife's help as a 3rd hand to hold the top plate while feeding the door panel, or you could use masking tape to temporarily hold the hinge-plates and put the enclosure on its side, so you can feed the panel top-town

Absolutely agree, I did not think of it as plain looking, but i get his point. But, everybody has a different taste, maybe it's a little dull to him, it isn't to me though.

Petco that Potos plant likes more water , you could bury it planted in a plastic pot, that way you do not have to soak the ground of the enclosure, also maybe it's much warmer above, they hate that. But just an idea, you should use Peperomia houseplants for enclosures, they are non poisonous, sturdy and neat, also it is important that Peperomia species need very little light(and are known to grow very well in artificial light, even simple fluorescent tube wil do), Potos needs a lot more light for it to grow healthy looking leafs . The thicker leafed ones can be kept in dryer and thin leafed ones in more moist enclosures. They are more sturdy than Potos and being a bit smaller i think they fit nicer. Here is a dumb question. Is there a group of breeders / collectors that you can call upon to find a mate for one of your animals? Call it Spider Tinder....
Hi Petko, was this by purpose that the C. sp. electric blue get no plants? I have also one and it’s a small sling and I have to rehouse her soon. Currently she has plants. And I think the name of the stones you’ve used is in English slate, shale or schist. In german it’s called “Schiefer” and the next time I build up a new enclosure I will use them too 😋 we have a lot of clay in our dirt as well here in south Germany so I will also try to copy your background style 😜 it’s really pretty!
I had an idea about the design of the hinge that keeps breaking. Make a full frame for the glass, not just clip on pieces. On the hinge side make the frame thicker with a hollow down the middle for metal rod to fit and act as the poles for the hinge to work.
Every time my school friend starts wiggling its tail and legs it starts shedding I was going to say if you pre-cut the hide and back it up to the end of the glass and then put dirt inside of it you can see where they're hiding out at because the dig the dirt out and then you can see them through the glass you can even put up piece of red plastic then you can always check them when they're in their hide

Blue is one of the colours Tarantulas can actually see. So the fact the underside of the legs are blue probably also helps during mating displays.
