Blue is one of the colours Tarantulas can actually see. So the fact the underside of the legs are blue probably also helps during mating displays.
That scorpion looks like it woke up on the wrong side of the enclosure...
Quite a mood
Nothing gets past the eagle eyes of the supreme leader 🤣
That scorpion is one feeding away from a walmart scooter.
Lemme kiss ya bro.
XD
Look at the battle scars of that straw!
Oh! Maybe those two leaves withered because they were touching the (duh duh duuuh) _skull_ . 😱 So spooky! Hahaha!!! That enclosure looks great already- can't wait to see it all grown in!
Thank you for pushing through the trials and tribulations. Because this is a fun video!
Your dirt must have a large percentage of clay like material in it, for how well it packs and holds it shape like that.
Nah, the dirt is just a paid actor
@@Matt-su8yl 🤣
True, i wanted to add to use cheap clay from a hobby shop, i dig up white clay near a river here, easy to find!
"This is something I fully expected from this species which is why I will let him keep the straw."
I like the cork background, they leave a lot of space and some color in the back. Your backgrounds give me so many ideas on what to do when my Ts are a bit larger.
The scorpion is a baby?! Whoa!
Maybe you can use a heatgun or a hairdryer to remove the glued pla plastics
looks like your soil has high clay content!
Exactly
The soil sticks that well because of a very high clay content. I see minimal cracking so it’s a non-shrink/swelling clay mineral(1:1). Clays that shrink and swell will probably just fall off. To test you can just wet your soil and message it (It seems my English is running out) a bit. Then just let it dry. If you see giant cracks it probably won’t work. The clay on our farm here in South Africa even has a self mulching effect where the soil mixes itself because of the swelling and shrinking.
Very leggy boys striking at incredibly high speed
21:59 I'm digging that Metallica communal. 😎 especially the way you incorporated the not plastic skull into the enclosure.
With the enclosures that have warped plastic parts you could try to carefully heat up the plastic with a hairdryer, and then bend them back into shape.
Put the warped plastic parts in boiling water for 15 or 20 seconds. remove using tweezers, place on the glass edge. Fix it in place until coole, using adhesive tape. Once cooled and in proper shape, glue them in place with your preferred glue (silicone rubber, hot glue, superglue...)
Here is a dumb question. Is there a group of breeders / collectors that you can call upon to find a mate for one of your animals? Call it Spider Tinder....
There's a group on Facebook that serves this exact purpose, it's called Spinder 😂😂
Those are some great creatures.
looks like your dirt has a high clay percentage
I love Mondays just for new videos from Petko.
Probably the key to your dirt's success is the amount of clay in it :)
If there was ever an arachnid fashion show, blue tarantulas like Electric Blue would steal the show. That color looks so good on a tarantula
Its only blue on the front legs though.everything else is beige and doesn't go well with the blue
I hate spiders n bugs..but I keep coming back for more😉
For you door parts you should look into getting them mad by a plastic injection molding company.
Petko Hawk had a vert in the back yard. hell yeah
7:50 wheeeeew fiesty!
All spiders are special! 🥺 Poor lil spood. X
XD that was adorable that little scorpion was all ready to throw tiny pinchers
Dude that half pipe is sickkk! Wish I had a big enough garden to have a mini ramp.
Every time my school friend starts wiggling its tail and legs it starts shedding I was going to say if you pre-cut the hide and back it up to the end of the glass and then put dirt inside of it you can see where they're hiding out at because the dig the dirt out and then you can see them through the glass you can even put up piece of red plastic then you can always check them when they're in their hide
Regarding the soil; yeah, you've got clay. I'd _never_ be able to use the sandy soil where I live they way you have.
I haven't wanted to keep tarantulas, but if I did... substrate, hide, sand for texture, leaf litter... I think I'm going to be hearing you say that in my sleep :D hehehe :D
That’s one Apoplectic Scorpion there! Talk about high blood pressure 😆
Also I was watching a FLITE TEST video about a heavy duty PLA for printers that might be useful for your enclosures! Might be worth looking into.
Love how that scorpion was like: "Come at me Bro! Come at me!"
I was thinking: to fix your heat-warped enclosures, instead of gluing the hinge-plates to the door first, could you glue them in situ?
By that I mean:
-step 1: place the bottom hinge plate onto the enclosure in the closed position
-step 2: apply a bead of adhesive onto the hinge-plate, a little heavier towards the far-end and lighter or none at all near the hinge
-step 3:apply adhesive to the top of your door panel, heavier on the side that will face the hinge
-step 4: insert the top hinge-plate into the top hinge [no adhesive]
-step 5: while holding the top hinge in place, slide the door panel in between the hinge-plates
-step 6: clean any glue over-spill and let cure
The excess glue on the top and bottom where the door panel will slide into the hinge-plates should drag the glue with it into the join.
To visualize it a little better, it would be like feeding an oven-rack or ikea drawer... sideways.
You may need your wife's help as a 3rd hand to hold the top plate while feeding the door panel, or you could use masking tape to temporarily hold the hinge-plates and put the enclosure on its side, so you can feed the panel top-town
This is super clever! I love how you included really simple-to-follow instructions.
@@rsukut5866 I have been given too many bad instructions to willingly give bad ones, especially with a potential language barrier, Yes Petko's spoken English is good, but i don't know if he can think in English [while working] or has to translate on the fly.
Or just take a new one.
Maybe you should try and find bamboo plants or get bamboo for the backgrounds of your enclosures, it'll help add some green and I dont think it'll be heavy
Never knew there were so many different spiders of a tarantula till I watched this guy
Last spider and enclosure were my favorite!
if you dont have already, take a heatgun and heat the plastic. it will bend back. maybe you have to give some weight on top but it will work and you still can use all the parts.
The kind of notification that saves mondays
Could you imagine all these enclosures in your old apartment?? Lol. Loved the rehouses. Great job!!! Tyfs God bless you
I believe that you should make the cages as simple as you can, you have to clean them. The dirt, sand and plants always look great. I love your videos and I'm scared to death of spiders. 🕷🕷🕸🕸
13:30 on , that male spider has beautiful color markings..
Nice Sand for the Texture 😊
Lovely length of video. Makes waiting less painful. Thank you. Enjoyed😊 about warped plastic: can you hit it with a bit of heat to bend it back into shape? Might be easier than replacing. Although you've done it already. But maybe for the future?
That's first scorpion was a baby wow!
You must be so satisfied of what you have built. Your Dark Den is a masterpiece and you show so much love to all your animals💚💚🕷🦂🦎🐹🐈🦀. Hope I didnt leave anyone out lol.
Fascinating to see this zoo of little monsters.
My Asian Forest Scorpion is as grumpy as hell, I only need to go near it and it goes into a threat posture.
So cool to see how far you've come since Dark Den 1. Keep up the great work!
My Chilobrachys sp. "Electric Blue" is not defensive, it's just very secretive. "This is just a hole. no one here." If it leaves the hole it teleports, never a threat, just shear terror for me.
Thank you Petko, i have been watching and subcribed to from the beginning. When you didn't have as many tarantula's as you definitely do now. And were just filming from your apartment. Love your new Dark Den place, its awesome! I have definitely learnt an awful lot on the husbandry and care of looking after and keeping tarantula's. I have seven, and am a waiting for a whip tail scorpion to arrive soon.
Im from London, uk. Please continue with Dark Den, as i love to watch all your videos, I've learnt an awful lot. Thank you. 🕷️🕸️✌🏾❤️😊🤗💜🙏🏾
Herb from Canada here hahaha...Your videos rule dude !!! .... My Chilobrachys electric blue (the creep crawler ) is my only Asian tarantula so far ... maybe one molt smaller then yours and was so so so chill when I rehoused it ... I had a second person with me and was prepared for a similar reaction as yours but it was so calm and peaceful hahaha .... anyways thanks for the wicked content and Tarantula disclousers makes choosing new ones alot easier :-)
Glad to see the sand back.great looking tanks with stunning spiders and feisty scorpion
Awesome thanks so much for rehousing
Thank you petko for your vids. They always get me smiling and entertained. I also learn stuff. Thank you man.
Another fangtastic video!
Half pipe in the back yard? Hell yeah!
I spent summers at my Aunts mobile home park as a kid in Boise LA. There were dirt roads, no grass. There were also these holes under and around the trailors. The people wld pour bleach or boiling down these holes to kill these huge spiders that lived in them. That's where my fear of spiders came from. These things were big, hairy and moved fast. Dark brown to black. The boys wld catch them to use as bait for fishing. To this day I am terrified of spiders. I live in S.C. and we have bugs. Were the spiders tarantulas or wolf spiders? Our wolf spiders will challenge you. It's horrifying. We have a little brown scorpion that lives under the bark of out long leaf pine tree. Won't kill u but u will get sick.
I never knew scorpions would do threat lunges; that was really cool! I've only ever seen them try to run away, or just hold their ground and not move at all. This little one has an attitude!
Petco that Potos plant likes more water , you could bury it planted in a plastic pot, that way you do not have to soak the ground of the enclosure, also maybe it's much warmer above, they hate that.
But just an idea, you should use Peperomia houseplants for enclosures, they are non poisonous, sturdy and neat, also it is important that Peperomia species need very little light(and are known to grow very well in artificial light, even simple fluorescent tube wil do), Potos needs a lot more light for it to grow healthy looking leafs . The thicker leafed ones can be kept in dryer and thin leafed ones in more moist enclosures. They are more sturdy than Potos and being a bit smaller i think they fit nicer.
Also they come in lots of variaties!
Thanks for the video petko. It was great as always. 😁
Hi Dark Den, hi everyone, " nice enclosures,
Happy tarantulas now", :)
Was bitten on my heel a couple of weeks ago by a unknown spider from alberta Canada its was pretty bad i thought I was going to lose my foot it still hasn't completely healed... spiders scare me now 😬
you possibly can boil those warped plastics for short period of time and place back on to fix them.
bro this guy got me in to spiders and now im getting a salmon pink birdeater
such a legend
Hello great video update and rehousing
All of your hard work is definitely paying off. The wall is almost completely covered. Very impressive 😁👍. It
definitely motivates me to get started. Thank you so very much for sharing. You may not thank so but the crafting of the wall would be of great importance to me. As I said, thanks, you are awesome!😎
AWESOME video mate
Did you even notice the 1st 🦂 food escaped??🤣🤣
I always like your enclosures especially with the sprinkle of sand! The Dark Den??? Not sure which number Dark Den is now, I like this one the best!
I love the skate park in the corner of your garden you are going to be an awesome Dad, I don’t think your children will get bored with you, I hope everything is going well for Your wife and the sickness stage is passed. 🌟🌟🌟
Bro!! Dig the longer videos! Great rehouse vid! You are the best at handling your T’s. We just picked up a Venezuelan Sun Tiger. she is a tiny sling and we are very excited about “it” growing.
Thanks for sharing each week! ✌️❤️🤘
One day that stack is going to fall over, and all HELL is going to break loose >_
That scorpion is THICK, mine look like that before they are going to molt or after they ate a few times
Put the enclosures back outside and bend them back into shape. It might work.
Just imagine The Rock doing voice over for the electric blue I mean he was after all called the most electrefying in all sports entertainment 🤣
The sand is back! I can rest easy now 😂
I really like how handy dandy Petko is with the enclosures and shelving. It's great. 🙂
That was a lot of grumpy boi action!
5:26 HODOR! :D
I wish to have a spider who likes trucking 😊❤
love this channel.
I want to see more about the cat in the intro though xD
Great video Petko! I can't wait to see if your Pseudhapalopus sp. blue burrows a lot. Mine is a little bulldozer and has a few different tunnels running through its enclosure.
Petko, I believe you were referring to plastic injection molding. Love the rehousing and feeding vids. Can't wait until the monitor arrives.
2:05 - that's what he said
If the Electric Blue would bite you it would be electrifying, too. Are we getting the Booty calendar next year???
9:15 the way you cut the video it looked like you just dumped the tarantula in there lol
great video! 😊
Awesome Tarantulas! I really love Chilobrachys sp. Electric blues! Hopefully I'll get some soon.. I've been using dirt background enclosures aswell!! They look extra naturalistic 🤓
amazing vid as usual
Was that a hint about possibly moving into enclosure kit production? Or just a tease? 😉
Gotta say, though, imo every T is beautiful in their own way- even the "plain" brown ones have details that will catch the eye if you look closely enough. I enjoyed seeing each of your Ts today. Thanks! Cheers!
Absolutely agree, I did not think of it as plain looking, but i get his point. But, everybody has a different taste, maybe it's a little dull to him, it isn't to me though.
@@gazepskotzs4 Yes, you're right, everyone's preferences differ. That's why I made sure to put "imo" ("in my opinion") because I don't want to say anyone is wrong for liking the flashier Ts more- they _are_ incredibly beautiful.
I guess I just like to advocate for the underdogs. Lol At first glance simple brown Ts can certainly seem dull, but hopefully people who write them off as boring will look a little closer. They might still think they're plain, of course. Haha!
Nice to hear I'm not alone in thinking they're _not_ dull, though! 😄
I want to move into enclosure production for a long time, just don't have the time to focus on it :D
@@TheDarkDen Ah, I see. That's an annoying position to be in... 😐 Well, maybe (hopefully!) an opportunity will present itself, so you can move forward with your plans. You're located in a great area for selling enclosures (or kits) since many of the nicest ones available either don't ship from the USA, or cost a fortune to do so. Plus your design looks really great! Good luck!! 😊
All tarantulas are special 🥺
Damn! Finally the sand.... ^...^
Wait, you have a halfpipe in your backyard?!
The Dark Skateboard when?
4:47 use some heater to give their shape back, not burn them! but just a little heat and everything will be fine. @TheDarkDen
Love it
You might not like chasing the tarantulas about .... but we the viewer love to watch it ;) xx love your channel as always xx
I love your videos so much!!! Thank you ! ❤️
got a few grumpy ones there!
