Mr. Will van der, if I may . . . I recommend Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 4. I have been listening to that symphony for most of my life since I discovered it long ago. I am over 60 years old now, and when I listen to it, it still sounds as new . . . as beautiful as the first time . . . I have recently delved into Baroque Era harpsichord music. Be well . . .
Any thing an every thing coming from Russian is marvelous and beautiful. The music is in a class of it's own.I will most definitely be there after the pandemic.
I am a Mongolian and I grew up listening, speaking and watching Russian music, movie and people. Oni ocheni dushaiya, dobrie, chistayie and velikalebnie...
This music makes my mind want to spread wings and fly upwards towards heavenly heights. No wars, conflicts, negativity, just peaceful bliss.🙏⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Yes! that is the Musis destination. we CAN fly. P.I.Tchaikovski is my beloved and first i've played by notes. WE are not a some worms. NOW we all CAN fly. the time is coming. to fly despite of pain. love You with this clear heavenly voices
Tchaikovsky es muy profundo y hace llorar. Yo conozco fragmentos cuando no falta una sola vez en ponérseme la piel de gallina, ni una vez faltó! Así es la fuerza, el poder de su música!
Likewise--for me, it was specifically the super simplified melodies from Swan Lake when I was studying piano for the introduction to the distinctions between major keys and minor keys,
You don't have to be Russian to love these errs. My mother loved ballet and the first music I heard on disc was Tchaikovsky. Yippee for Russian composers.
I grew up with Tchaikovsky, and fell in love with ballet... I really wish ballet was more known and understood among people... But yeah, you don't have to be Russian to love this, just somehow the Russians seem to care more than us about it 😔
From Hungarian, German and Austrian descent, I can feel the sadness and the pangs of the tragical history of Eastern and Western Europe in these beautiful adagios ...
The harp intro, followed by the violin... you are pulled into a fantasy land of music. Do not fight it, let it take you to places you never been before.
It's impossible that a simple major descending scale, followed by a minor descending scale, could be so mesmerizing! But it's true. This first piece, by Tchaikovski, is from Nutcracker, I think. One of the most fabulous pieces of music ever!
Nutcracker Pas de Deux... I agree, it's one of the highest achievement of Romantic music of all time... I recommend you to watch it danced as well: in the entire ballet, it's the great grand final of a long divertissement that builds up to this, and it's just magical
I have never heard these works played better. The excitement of Painfully Beautiful Music, Lives! I can't get over it. I never expected to hear great works played like this again... thank you for this.....

I shamefully admit I didn't know Khrennikov nor Miaskovsky to this day. All these pieces are masterfully executed. Khrennikov's Hussar Ballad moved me to the tears, and Miaskovsky's adagio is simply breath-taking.
I heard Myaskovsky's Symphony No 19 many years ago at a Prom Concert. On the way out I heard someone say, "why do we have to listen to that rubbish when we have so many fifth rate composers of our own?"

The Nutcracker is both deeply sad and extremely beautiful ! Grew up listening to Tchaikovsky (thanks to my father). Thanks for sharing.
Russian composers wear their hearts on their sleeves, hence such gorgeous music.
