    My fire skink "hibernates" during the winter and I almost never see him, He made his first apperance in march.

      @@221breptiles3 that may be a dummy run. They need to be at lesst 3 years old before they can produce fertile eggs going off my own experience.

    Looking to get a skink for my daughter. She’s 9 years old. We’re in between the fire skink or peters band. What is the difference between the two ? Thanks

      Hello, Peters love sandy/loose substrate, they like warm temperatures and they prefer a semi arid semi dry environment and they are primarily insectivorous. Fires like humidity, they can tolerate cooler temperatures and they eat a wide variety of foods. I personally prefer the fires because they are red, they like cooler temps and I like they way they " smile", but I know many people who love their Peters as they can also be housed in colonies. Thank you for watching :)

    • @221breptiles3
      @221breptiles3  5 років тому

      they can tolerate human interactions, with patience and bribing with food :)

    Thank You so much for this video! I've got mine like 1 month and to be honest-I've done his/shes enclosure almost like Your's. This is an amazing animal, after one month he/she (dont really know) starts to look at me
    whenever I work near my desk. I can handle his/her with no problem. I wish I could know how can I recognize the gender...cuz I want one more. :D
