There was a restaurant in Thief River Falls, MN that had Bucky O Hare. Tiny little farm town like an hour from Canada. My grandma lived there and we would visit a few times a year. I loved that game.
Thanks for showing both Cabal and 'Blood Bros.', that brought back a lot of memories of the old simple times. every time i went visit my grandma, i played them at the nearby arcade place, you could get about 5 tokens for a quarter, nowadays you can't even take your eyes off your kids for 5 minutes, and i was wandering for hours alone (or with my small brother)
This is seriously THE best video game show ever on youtube. Nearly every obscure and rare console and arcade game I've ever wanted to learn more about is talked about in great detail and amazing production values. I love the retrospectives too like where you talked about all the different Wonder Boy/Adventure Island games...I've never been able to understand whats what with those games. You should put a dvd out, all the other shows have them and they aren't even on the same planet as you guys
What a grand birthday gift... I can't WAIT to watch this. I'll be 25 in less than 5 minutes from leaving this post! I've watched ALL your episodes and even got my younger brother to play more retro games thanks to these videos. The Left In The Arcade episodes are some of my favorites since I never really had an arcade where I lived and missed out on tons of games as a result. Thank you for giving me the chance to see such unique games every 2 weeks!
Man I feel sorry for you. The arcade was one hell of a experience. Some of my fondest gaming memories come from arcades. That is something kids these days don't get to experience and it makes me sad.
Wow guys, just wow! You two really do inspire me alot, by being aware of your weaknesses and turning them into strengths! Your selfmockering humour makes your passionate and refreshingly detailed videos so unique and likable! Thank you so much, keep doing what you love and please never stop!
Night Slashers was such a badass game to me when I was little, horror beat em up? Fuck yeah and then some :D Would love to see this somehow show up on PSN/XBLA or anywhere possible for a re-release
i really like how u guys are always introducing me to new games and gaming systems - even though i havent played all games by myself or possibly never get my hands on some of them - its always fun to listen to your thoughts and footage, because i am feeling like i would sit next to you in the room.;) keep up your good work! greetings from the northern shore of germany ;)
I love these left in the arcades videos because i remember seeing or playing these games when i was kid. In fact there is an old school burger joint that had blood brothers for the longest time. Until about two years they got rid of it because they needed more room for tables. (SIGH) keep up the good work, you guys are fun to watch.
so awesome to finally see the Battletoads arcade game. i was starting to doubt it existed. and being your average youtuber i was way too lazy to look it up myself so thanks GameSack!
I've watched all those "left in arcades" episodes before but I'm watching them all over again since I just got a raspberry pi + USB arcade controller, gonna download all those games. It would be very helpful if you had a "featured games" list in video description :(
A lot of these games rock. Imagine a multi game in one four players for Nintendo switch?? That would kick ass!! Four people tearing through these games. Wow!!!
Mystic Warriors seems fantastic! Sunset Riders is one of my favorite games of all time, so this is right up my alley! Thanks for the great show, as always.
Oh man, I loved Blood Bros.! There was an arcade machine of this at my local video store and me and my friend would put plenty of quarters into it. Then we would go home and play Cabal on NES. We obviously enjoyed the similar gameplay but had no idea it was made from the same people. Until now.
Actually Blood Bros. had a similar styled game for the SNES that's equally obscure but is possibly one of the best games in the system. It's called Wild Guns I believe, by Natsume. While the setting of that game is sci-fi western rather than pure western, I can't help thinking how similar both these games are.
Evil Santa shouting merry Christmas while fire lazers and hurling grenades at you is one of the greatest things I've ever seen... I need to play boogie wing
That was an excellent episode, all the games you reviewed are total gems. I've been playing Blood Bros. for 20 years now, this game just never gets old! Can't wait for part 4, maybe include Metamorphic Force?
Some games you should look on the next video: 1944: The Loop Master, Arabian Magic, Armed Police Batrider, Armored Warriors, Asterix, Asura Blade and Asura Buster, Battle Bakraid, Biomechanical Toy, Change Air Blade, Charlie Ninja, Crystal of Kings, Denjin Makai and Guardians, Diet Go Go, Dimahoo, Eco Fighters, Fever SOS, First Funky Fighter, Grid Seeker, Heavy Smash, Martial Masters, Metal Black, Monster Maulers, Nostradamus, Red Earth, Shadow Force, Sol Divide, Space Invaders '95, Spinal Breakers, Three Wonders, Trio the Punch, Violent Storm, Viper Phase 1, Warrior Blade and X-Multiply.
So many classics never made it to home consoles, I’ll never understand this. These games provided many magical moments and the younger gamers today would have a blast with these games
Guys, I'd love to see you play the arcade game of Asterix, which was released here in Europe. It's a scrolling beat-em-up by Konami, masters of the genre. I know you'd love it.
Here are two arcade games that got a recent home console port: Boogie Wings and Armored Warriors both got ported on the Retro-Bit Retro-cade! I couldn't help but smile when I saw Boogie Wings on your episode!
Black Tiger never came out for a console (except much later in a Capcom compilation for the PS2) and that game blew my mind when I was a kid. The music is awesome! I think that was the only arcade game I ever beat too.
any and every episode of gamesack is awesome but the "left in the arcades" series is my favorite!!! Great job as always boys!!!! Any shot of a Neo Geo episode in the future? Not the crappy NG X, the MVS and AES!! Thanks guys!
You guys REALLY love beat-em-ups, don't you? Boogie Wings! Man! It's been like 10 years since I last played that and I never could remember it's name. Thanks guys. I also miss Data East really bad - little companies made game as humorous and so thinly-veiled so good clones of other, more popular game franchises. What's the tango-like music at the end? And where did you shoot the footage at the end? Arcades are still open near your house? Nitro Ball looks pretty cool and sounds great. You ask for more? Okay, have three: Soldam - the best puzzle game no one has ever heard of. Hell I think I am the only person who has played it other than the developers! I can best describe it as Othello for the NES, but fun and colorful. If you get the hang of it it becomes extremely addictive. Three Wonders - three games in one: a shoot-em-up, a run and gun, and a puzzle one. The first is the sequel to the second; they share characters, universe and timeline. The MC appeared as support character on Marvel Vs. Capcom. 1000 Miles Rally - bird's eye view of a the italian rally where you have to beat 12 stages, each under a one minute limit. Works and plays very well. Neither has been ported for home consoles AFAIK. Try them out and tell me what you think! I know of plenty more unknown arcade games if you're interested :)
Game Sack Yeah, I get you. For me the (two) and only were The Simpsons and Cadillacs and Dinosaurs. Well, the Punisher was fun too, but not much beyond that. Check out those games!
Bucky O'Hare was created sometime through 1977-'78 but debuted to the public in Echo of Futurepast #1 in May of 1984, while the cartoon ran from September 8 til December of '91.
Re: Mystic Warriors, I agree in liking little details like seeing the plan you were just on crashing in the background of the next level. Reminds me of Bonks Adventure.... after a few levels, you start to see a portion of the last fortress in the background. Awesome detail.
GI Joe the Arcade Game by Konami. Its an intense forward running shooter with up to 4 players. After starting it up, hearing that "Yo Joe!" followed by explosion and that awesome music...you get hooked!
You guys should cover Great 1000 Miles Rally (the USA version), and Tournament Arkanoid. I love these Left in the Arcade episodes, and we need a 4th episode!
DUDE, a shmup where you start out in a plane, get shot down, ride whatever tickles your fancy, get chased by a huge ferris wheel and fight LSD santa? Fuck realism, I'm SOLD, DO WANT.
YES! The 3rd one is finally here! Yet another great video from my favorite Canadians :D. I love the music in the beginning, and that solo at 00:44, beautiful! I wanna hear the rest!
Shirtwin goes to Joe. B. Rap Boys looks awesome for the soundtrack alone. Battletoads looks freaking amazing! Man, beat 'em ups were never the same once polygons entered the picture. Great work once again!
Blood Bros was cool. Night Slashers was a badass beat em up. Battletoads, Boogie Wing and Mystic Warriors I saw in arcades, but didn't get to try. Some nice choices for games that didn't get a proper port. Another great episode.
I came upon a "Pac Man Jr" cabinet at a restaurant in north Wisconsin earlier this week. It wasn't much different than the original or Mrs. but it had the scrolling screen. Great fun!
I am also a big fan of DataEast. I am currently playing the fan made english translation of Metal Max Returns for the SNES. It's an amazing DataEast RPG that was only released in Japan. It's an 80's style post apocalyptic world with characters that fight with tanks and guns. You level just like any other traditional turned based JRPG and buy tank upgrades and guns with the gold you make. You can also do many side quests such as bounty hunting for gold and experience. I can't recommend this game enough to you man! I hope you play it!
There used to be a vertical shooter in Pizza Hut. You could either be an airplane or I think the tank/car. Does anybody know what arcade cabinet this was?
Another great episode. Next time please talk about the game Violent Storm, made by Konami. Its a fantastic game. Everyone forgets this gem. And the racing game Big Run (11th Rallye version), its a bit chaotic but really fun. Keep the good work guys.
There was "Mat Mania" a very old wrestling game I thought for sure was coming to the Sega Master System and "Dangar" a vertically scrolling shooter where you play the role of a robot that splits into 3 pieces then reassembles and if you get hit you become only 1 of the pieces and you have to gradually put yourself back together as you progress through the game.
a other wrestling arcade game well two games that never came to a home contsol or however this spelled were wwf superstars and wwf wrestlefeast and as far was wwf.e video games that was out at the time wwf wrestlefeast was one of the better ones
You should mention which beat-em-ups have 4-player mode. It may not matter to you, but it does to me and probably other people. That's the main reason I own boards for Hook, Mystic Warriors, Bucky O'Hare, and every other 4-player board I've been able to find. For your next "Left in the Arcades" you should do "Karate Blazers" from Video System. That's a funny and interesting beat-em-up.
I played Battletoads, which was at one arcade I went to once in a while. From what I've read, it wasn't in wide release. Don't recall seeing any of the others, but I didn't start going to arcades a lot until 1994. That slanted elevator level at 7:53 was also used in one of the Ninja Turtles games, either 3 or 4, don't remember which.
#1 hardcore oldschool gamer channel on UA-cam, nothing else even comes close.
Thank You! We do appreciate that.
Well, if HG101 gets in the video business...
I'm genuinely surprised they don't have more views. This is the finest show available on UA-cam.
I totally agree with Tk yang
There was a restaurant in Thief River Falls, MN that had Bucky O Hare. Tiny little farm town like an hour from Canada. My grandma lived there and we would visit a few times a year. I loved that game.
Thanks for showing both Cabal and 'Blood Bros.', that brought back a lot of memories of the old simple times.

Boogie Wings looks INCREDIBLE!
Agreed!!
No retro massage here... but it's a lazy winter Sunday morning, and I got a bagel and some Game Sack. Life is good.
I hope you and Dave know how well your old work holds up. Many generations to come will love this coverage
That Battle toads looks amazing! Thanks for putting that on my radar.
Battletoads was a great arcade
This is seriously THE best video game show ever on youtube. fellow follower from Italy there, great channel GameSack, I might have watched all your videos in the previous 2-3 weeks. Cheers
great episode! all those data east games look fantastic!
Boogie Wings!!! 12:35 You guys have great taste. I'd like to see another game like it. It's just so full of personality and originality.
Another great episode! Had no idea about the Battletoads arcade version. Really excited to see what you guys have in store for episode 100.
And now you're 25. A quarter of a century. Happy birthday!
Happy birthday, dude :)
Game Sack Haha! You guys just got even MORE awesome! Now if only I had an arcade machine for that quarter...
Man I feel sorry for you. The arcade was one hell of a experience. Some of my fondest gaming memories come from arcades.
That is something kids these days don't get to experience and it makes me sad.
Happy BIrthday!
I'm on the same boat with you. During my early to mid childhood, I played this game with my brothers when we were with my dad on a road trip.
KICKSTARTER!!!! NOW!!!
that mini-game/bonus level or whatever it is. Whack-a-mole never looked more awesome :)
sup alpha
Data East: The king of hidden gems
Now available on the switch.
This is seriously one of most enjoyable retro game channels on UA-cam.
Game Sack - a must watch for me these days. Thanks fellas, also recommending you to friends.
i really like how u guys are always introducing me to new games and gaming systems - even though i havent played all games by myself or possibly never get my hands on some of them - its always fun to listen to your thoughts and footage, because i am feeling like i would sit next to you in the room.;)
keep up your good work!
greetings from the northern shore of germany ;)
MERRY CHRISTMAS. MERRY CHRISTMAS. MERRY CHRISTMAS.
that was awesome
I got your “presents” for ya
I love these left in the arcades videos because i remember seeing or playing these games when i was kid. In fact there is an old school burger joint that had blood brothers for the longest time. Until about two years they got rid of it because they needed more room for tables. (SIGH) keep up the good work, you guys are fun to watch.
Can't wait for the new episode today! Game Sack is favorite show online or on TV. You guys rock. Let me get a wazzzzuuuupppppp from Dave!
Oh Heyyyy!
Thanks for another great episode. Scud Race was the one I wanted to see ported to the Dreamcast.
so awesome to finally see the Battletoads arcade game. i was starting to doubt it existed. and being your average youtuber i was way too lazy to look it up myself so thanks GameSack!
I really enjoyed this one. You guys are my new UA-cam favorite.
Good job. Quite a few games I didn't know existed...MAME, here I come!
Wow!!!
Another great episode guys. Nice selection, I never heard of a lot of these games so it was pretty informative.
I just wanna say I really enjoy your show and look forward to each new episode. Thanks a lot guys, keep up the good work!
I really enjoy all of your videos on games system's and the arcade games. This channel ROCKS!
Thank you Rare Replay for including Battletoads Arcade, the better game in my opinion.
Mystic Warriors seems fantastic! Sunset Riders is one of my favorite games of all time, so this is right up my alley! Thanks for the great show, as always.
I'm one of the guys that suggested Boogie Wings. Thanks for putting it on, I knew you guys would love it.
Oh man, I loved Blood Bros.! There was an arcade machine of this at my local video store and me and my friend would put plenty of quarters into it. Then we would go home and play Cabal on NES. We obviously enjoyed the similar gameplay but had no idea it was made from the same people. Until now.
Bucky O'Hare, Boogie Wings, and Nitro Ball are all great examples of left in the arcade. Amazing how many Konami left there overall.
Actually Blood Bros. had a similar styled game for the SNES that's equally obscure but is possibly one of the best games in the system. It's called Wild Guns I believe, by Natsume. While the setting of that game is sci-fi western rather than pure western, I can't help thinking how similar both these games are.
Great episode. I used to love Blood Brothers... many nights spent drinking oreo-ice cream shakes and making a quarter last forever in that game!
Well thanks for suggesting it. It's awesome!
That whole "what more do you need to become president other than winning a gameshow"...that uh...that sure rings a lot more true these days....
Awesome work as always, guys.
Really anxious to see what you prepared for episode 100. You rock!
Boogie Wings looks really cool. That's the game in this episode that I'd most like to play.
you guys make my hangover much easier every sunday , thanks ...
Evil Santa shouting merry Christmas while fire lazers and hurling grenades at you is one of the greatest things I've ever seen... I need to play boogie wing
Thanks for the video, really enjoyed seeing DJ Boy again!
That was an excellent episode, all the games you reviewed are total gems. I've been playing Blood Bros. for 20 years now, this game just never gets old! Can't wait for part 4, maybe include Metamorphic Force?
Love it guys, some serious gems there, thanks for uploading
great episode! nice choose of arcade games!, arcade hidden gems..
YES! You mentioned Bucky!! That game was just plain awesome, and difficult to top!
Some games you should look on the next video: 1944: The Loop Master, Arabian Magic, Armed Police Batrider, Armored Warriors, Asterix, Asura Blade and Asura Buster, Battle Bakraid, Biomechanical Toy, Change Air Blade, Charlie Ninja, Crystal of Kings, Denjin Makai and Guardians, Diet Go Go, Dimahoo, Eco Fighters, Fever SOS, First Funky Fighter, Grid Seeker, Heavy Smash, Martial Masters, Metal Black, Monster Maulers, Nostradamus, Red Earth, Shadow Force, Sol Divide, Space Invaders '95, Spinal Breakers, Three Wonders, Trio the Punch, Violent Storm, Viper Phase 1, Warrior Blade and X-Multiply.
Good selection, many of theese are a blast! :)
So many classics never made it to home consoles, I’ll never understand this. These games provided many magical moments and the younger gamers today would have a blast with these games
Wow, nice looking games I've never seen before; good review guys.
With friends like Joe... who needs more than one friend?
Guys, I'd love to see you play the arcade game of Asterix, which was released here in Europe. It's a scrolling beat-em-up by Konami, masters of the genre. I know you'd love it.
Here are two arcade games that got a recent home console port: Boogie Wings and Armored Warriors both got ported on the Retro-Bit Retro-cade! I couldn't help but smile when I saw Boogie Wings on your episode!
Those aren't ports, they are half baked emulation.
Black Tiger never came out for a console (except much later in a Capcom compilation for the PS2) and that game blew my mind when I was a kid. The music is awesome! I think that was the only arcade game I ever beat too.
***** It came out on the SNES way before than the PS2 emulated version...the game its great nevertheless !
Really! I never saw it released for a system. Good stuff tho thanks! :D
any and every episode of gamesack is awesome but the "left in the arcades" series is my favorite!!! Great job as always boys!!!!
Any shot of a Neo Geo episode in the future? Not the crappy NG X, the MVS and AES!! Thanks guys!
Didn't think Id be interested but OMG, GREAT EPISODE!!!
Lucky and Wild was the greatest arcade game to never make it home. A two person car cabinet with guns? So much fun!
Okay, have three:
Soldam - the best puzzle game no one has ever heard of.
Capcom.

Neither has been ported for home consoles AFAIK. Try them out and tell me what you think! I know of plenty more unknown arcade games if you're interested :)
There's no bias for or against beat 'em ups. It's just that a lot of arcade games, ESPECIALLY ones that never came home are, in fact, beat 'em ups.
Game Sack Yeah, I get you. For me the (two) and only were The Simpsons and Cadillacs and Dinosaurs. Well, the Punisher was fun too, but not much beyond that.
Check out those games!
Game Sack you there are arcade RPGs as well that never came to the console
Bucky O'Hare was created sometime through 1977-'78 but debuted to the public in Echo of Futurepast #1 in May of 1984, while the cartoon ran from September 8 til December of '91.

GI Joe the Arcade Game by Konami. Its an intense forward running shooter with up to 4 players. After starting it up, hearing that "Yo Joe!" followed by explosion and that awesome music...you get hooked!
Asterix by Konami plays and looks really good!
+Ryuma King absolutely +1
Cadillacs and dinosaurs! Beast beat em up I ever played. It never got to home consoles.
Hells YEAH I have 20 minutes to burn! And there is a new episode of Game Sack!
YES! The 3rd one is finally here! Yet another great video from my favorite Canadians :D. I love the music in the beginning, and that solo at 00:44, beautiful! I wanna hear the rest!

Awesome video as always guys, and I would have loved to have seen bucky o'hare on the SNES, or Genesis as I can never get enough of beat'm up games.
I came upon a "Pac Man Jr" cabinet at a restaurant in north Wisconsin earlier this week. It wasn't much different than the original or Mrs. but it had the scrolling screen. Great fun!
My nominations for a 4th video: the conspicuous absences of Sega's arcade racers - Indy 500, Super GT / Scud Race, Daytona 2...
I was just thinking, "it been a while since a saw a game sack" *open youtube, right on time :)
I am also a big fan of DataEast. I am currently playing the fan made english translation of Metal Max Returns for the SNES. It's an amazing DataEast RPG that was only released in Japan. Blood Bros....the inspiration for NATSUME's Wild Guns on the Super Nintendo? If not, it's sure close.
Great video guys, congrats
What a great episode for my birthday. I'm the big ol' 28.
As they say
Growing old is inevitable. Growing up is optional :)
Happy Birthday!
i like the giant santa that is trying his best to murder you while shouting "MEERRYYYY CHRISTMASS HOHOHO!
love these videos keep up good work
There used to be a vertical shooter in Pizza Hut. You could either be an airplane or I think the tank/car. Does anybody know what arcade cabinet this was?
Love this series - your next 7 videos should be Left in the Arcade parts 4 through 10!
"My rocket is the best. NOT!" That line made me chuckle.
I gotta get that Game Sack hat and t-shirt!!!
Great selection! A whole of new games for me, thanks :)
And I was just about to pop on an older episode while searching for SNES box templates :-p Can't believe you guys are a month away from episode 100!
FYI, Battletoads was released on the Xbox in the Rare Replay collection
So glad it was....who don't love some sweet beat-em-up action with animorphic frogs
I seen the actually Battletoads arcade machine at the Minnesota State Fair back in the day....
I always wanted a port of the Shinobi arcade on the Genesis. Oh well! Great episode guys!!
Man, Mystic Warriors and Boogie Wings look awesome! Also the "Go! ... to hell!" arrow in Night Slashers is amazing.
Great episode! Thanks for turning me on to Boogie Wings: that game's ker-raaaazy!!
Another great episode.
Next time please talk about the game Violent Storm, made by Konami. Its a fantastic game. Everyone forgets this gem.
And the racing game Big Run (11th Rallye version), its a bit chaotic but really fun.
Keep the good work guys.
So happy to see all the Konami love in this episode! Still my favorite arcade games are from them. Sunset Riders is the best.

Great episode. These games look awesome especially Mystic Warriors. It's a shame they never made it to consoles...
too bad they didnt mention Wild Guns in the snes, since its very similar to cabal and blood bros. but i like it even more and a hidden gem.
