I wore a 6105 back in Vietnam. I was really excited when Seiko announced a reissue. When I heard the price, I just laughed and picked up this Heimdallr. Awesome watch and very comfortable on the wrist.
@@GrimwoodWatchModding But just like the Seiko reissue does not deserve its price, neither does the Heimdallar deserve the price you've paid. Have a look at the price on other sites. The price is around a third of the price you've paid, I believe. I paid around 80 pounds for mine on taobao.com.
I bought one of these about 3 months ago. Pepsi bezel with the waffle strap. I love it and was thinking about getting another one to mod. Looking forward to see what works with these. Also I had that stiff bezel and fixed it by adjusting the angle of the spring tensioner.
I have two of their skx007s, convinced they regulate them, incredibly accurate. Great value, got one for £104 in a sale. Lume is better than SKX and close to a monster.
Well now Seiko have basically down graded the SKX to a Seiko 5 i think the Heimdallr Skxs are the way to go. They were already better but now they will be way ahead :)
The bezel action is the same on mine and has not loosened up. Atleast you know its not going anywhere once youve set it. Crow action is great and it wears very nice. Mr Grimwood and his experience with Heimdallr build quality made me pull the trigger on this peice. More bang for your buck than any other watch i have.
Pleased you got one off the back of my experience :), can't fault the quality. I have also got wind of some very interesting watches which are coming which i'mg going to have to look into :)
I've been going back and forth between all black and the blue bezel and I've been leaning towards the blue. Yours looks like quite a bit different blue though than what the Heimdallr website shows....almost purple. Is that a trick of the lights maybe?
In Vietnam I wore a Glycine. In fact I am still an avid supporter of the brand. I always wanted a 6105 yet sadly, I never bought one. The new 6105 from Seiko is far too expensive for what you get. I went with this Heimdallr and it has proven to be everything that I want in this style of watch.
Pleased you like the channel and are getting into the modding side of things. If you need any help drop me a message on my Facebook page or email. Always happy to give advise :)
I like the blue colored bezel you chose for this review so I'm looking into purchasing one. When I checked the Heimdallr website, the blue appears much brighter in shade which I don't favor as much as the one in your review. Did they change the color? Thanks in advance for any feedback
They have started using ceramic inserts so the colour tones look to be different due to this. Personally i do like ceramic however sometimes you do loose a bit of warmth to the colours. Take my BB GMT and compare it to the rolex GMT 2 Pepsi.
@@GrimwoodWatchModding Thanks for the feedback. I also like ceramic as an upgrade. Interesting on their website it specifically states only the black version is ceramic but maybe site is not accurate. I guess you are saying the current blue bezels are ceramic and are brighter tones than before. Too bad, the darker tones make their appearance richer aesthetics IMO.
Hi, really enjoying you videos, just subscribed, got the nodding bug recently, building a skx homage from scratch with parts from Namoki. I've ordered one of these and fancy doing a pilot bezel mod on it, which one would fit?
Seiko was silly enough to create a market for homage makers like Heimdallr cos they priced theirs sky high and in limited quantities. I just ordered one myself !
do you know what bezel (not just insert) can be used on this one? I have a Pepsi coming and want to keep a standard black bezel on the side to switch out with.
the sizingof the insert is 38od by 32id which is the same as the original 6105 inserts. You can get after market ones which will fit just make sure of the size.
Maybe you should see page 1 and page 2 of this post: www.watchuseek.com/threads/stop-spending-for-nh36-day-wheels.5229020/page-2 to see how you can get a day complication on any Seiko (7002 and "Steel-dice" 6105). I've done it for myself and a few others!
Heimdallr watches ,what a heap of junk . I've had dust under the crystal and damage where some idiot didn't know how to put a stainless steel bracelet on properly and scuffed up the front of the lugs. How can they send a watch out like this.Never again .

The reissue does not in my mind deserve the price that Seiko have on this. The Heimdallr is a great alternative.
Very cool history to this watch. Thank you for your service.
Not sure what Seiko was thinking with that price. Nothing but gouging. I'm planning on this one myself.
How does it compare with your old watch?

I've had mine for two months and I love it. Keeps great time with the Seiko movement and I love that vintage look.
I bought a black Heimdallr “Captain Willard” last week. I am VERY impressed with this watch.

I bought it with the stainless bracelet. Very nice, solid peice. Gets more use than my actual Seiko's. And i have a couple of really nice Seikos!
I'm the same, i'm a Seiko nut but these just seems to be a upgrade at a cheaper price with the same look :)
Solid endlinks?

I would definitely buy and wear this proudly! The only reason I’m not buying this right now is because I just bought a turtle homage long islander!
Thank you for a great video...I look forward to seeing the mod when you are done :)

You wouldn't regret your choice. But i have to agree the Seiko reissue was just stupid money, even though it was a nice watch.

Hi Mate, great review!
Just ordered one and will probably do a few mods, do Seiko turtle pars fit the Heimdallr Turtle?
It's Dawson these can be modified?
Definitely going to try one out , thanks !
Captain Willard homage copy, very cool. I have the Limited Edition version with a different face and hands.

I must not buy any more watches, resist. Great review and quality watch.
You and me both! However failing very badly at the moment 😅
@@GrimwoodWatchModding same here 😂

I own the same watch in green, and it's brilliant. The only watch that I believe is better value for money is Parnis diver
if you buy this watch in China, which is where they're from, they go for around 80 pounds.
But if you live somewhere else there's no option to do this. Or is there some way to get it shipped while still paying a lower price?
vintage.frames yes there is, on alibaba you buy straight from the factory, and DHL shipping is available
@@josemartinjuarezvargas8523 This would seem a much better option than the one taken here, as the price paid was way too high.
@@josemartinjuarezvargas8523 Hmmm, strange. I thought alibaba only works with wholesale.
Can I get a link where you got it?
Could you do a detailed comparison video of this watch to the Seiko SKX ? Thanks!
I'm suscribed!!!
Good video. Think I might get one
Did the bezel ever loosen up ?
Hi. Good review. Was hoping you would of tried it on though. Otherwise thanks, man!
That is one thing i did forget to do. However this watch will soon be modded and back together so will be doing a wrist shot then to make up :)
Ho ho it's a nice thing
You forgot to show us the lume! How's the lume?
I know, i recorded it as well just missed off the final edit. It is good, not far off Seiko lume if i'm honest.
@@GrimwoodWatchModding That's the answer I was hoping for! Just ordered mine. THanks!
Mate, that title hits too close to home now
Is the bezel ceramic? What about the pepsi one?
The insert is not Cermic, just standard type insert for them all.

What dial did you put in? And did you do a video?

Chinese
Stainless steel?

Is the water resistance on these good?
I have tested this up to 60 meters and was solid up to that. Can't test any higher at present however.

To your knowledge is anyone making a mini turtle homage?
Not that i know of however no doubt it is getting looked into. I know Heimdallr like to keep releasing new watches regular. :)
Try looking at the Long Island Watch co I think they may offer one

How Much Sec. At the Day + - ?
