Good review. I picked one up during the AliExpress sale for $100 US and I love it. Excellent quality and specs. You can’t go wrong. I love the contrasting lume and the short lug to lug length. Indexes and bezel markers all line up perfectly unlike Seiko.
The 6105 is one of the watches that I wore in Vietnam. It was refreshing to hear you say that you liked the watch because of the film, Apocalypse Now. I hate the fanboys who go on about Vietnam, military service, etc. What do they know? They bought it because of Captain Willard. Martin Sheen actually wore the 1979 model. I wonder if the boys with toys knew that the war had already ended ))) 😉
Thank you for watching and that's incredible! The full review is coming soon, keep an eye out! Haha that is exactly it with Regards to the Vietnam War Era!
I just received this watch from an eBay seller because of this review and I am very pleased. Came with same case, wrapped in plastic with hangtag in baggie , but no warranty card. Thanks so much, I appreciate the look at it before I pulled the trigger.
Steeldive are made in the same factory as Heimdallr, Merkur, and a few other brands. I have three Heimdallr Sharkey watches as well as a few Seikos. I apologise to anyone who cares about so called heritage, but the Chinese homages are technically better watches.
@@itsKibbleTalksWatches What makes you say the actual build quality is better without even taking the watch apart to see if there is evidence of poor handling inside? Never judge a book by its cover.
Good video, I got the same watch a few weeks ago but with a rubber strap and I was very impressed with the build quality and the bang for buck you get. In fact it's my fav watch in my collection.
Great review. This came up in my feed and is the first review of yours I've seen; enjoy your easy going, matter-of-fact style. I also have an interest in Seiko Turtles and divers in general.Keep up the good work. Subscribed.
Thank you very much! I've been making videos for many years but had a long hiatus from videos to start my business and get it up off the ground. Now I'm back so I hope you enjoy and thank you for the support!
Liked this watch so much, I went and bought the Hulk Homage too! At current Rolex price levels, I no longer wear my Submariner 16613 everyday (leave it in the safe and take it out for more special occasions) or take it on overseas travel. This STEELDIVE has become my daily driver! With the proven SII NH35, this watch is of good quality quality, excellent features, and amazing value.
I've just bought one and are waiting for Delivery. Bought it at just under £100 after talking to the UK supplier. He was extremely helpful and hope the watch matches up to the Service.
Enjoying the watch so far! I suspect it will be a positive review, I'm interested to get this compared to the normal Turtle and then maybe later a King Turtle! Who will win ;)
Bought this same watch and am stunned by the quality for the price. The lume is brilliant and lasts longer than most others. I ordered it on a rubber divers strap which is good. The logo and branding I think is honest too since they are not pretending to fake Seiko. When the order was delayed by Covid I received a polite email from the company. It took many weeks to arrive but that is perfectly fine I think. Steel drive seems to be building a good reputation.
I bought a heimdallr one for the same price but it had an aluminium bezel insert which is what I wanted so it would look more like the original. I then bought an aftermarket 6105 Seiko dial off of eBay and installed it. My crown is unsigned so it looks better. It looks ALMOST like the real thing except for the crown guards. If you notice on these Chinese 6105 clones, the top crown guard is a bit longer than the Seiko. It's not bad though, mine looks alot like the real thing. It justifies not paying thousands of dollars.
Over the years, Seiko have made their millions from this design and others.. Somewhere along the line, they are involved in these copies/homages, and continue to profit from it..Don't misunderstand me, I love Seiko watches, but sometimes the stainless steel bracelets are too short for my large wrists. I now usually go for Invicta or Aragon watches that use the Seiko NH35/36 movement, but have ample bracelet length unlike some Seiko's.... Both of these brands offer solid watches. I have now just made my first Steeldive purchase, based on yours and other reviews. I don't think that I am going to be disappointed .....Great review by the way
Thanks for the review. I love Turtles too and am looking to add the Steeldive to my watch box. The one thing that I appreciate particularly is that the crown lines up perfectly with 4 o’clock, unlike any of Seikos own watches (which irritates me immensely).
Bought one a few weeks ago, and very impressed with the quality........ so impressed in fact, I also purchased their Tuna homage which is stunning for the money paid. Just shows that the Chinese can make great watches if they try. I have an Aquatico Seastar in bronze ....... Another Chinese micro-brand worth a look !! Great video, keep it up.
I ordered this from Ali Express a little over a month ago on the silicone strap for around $110 US. I haven't received it yet (which is probably why it came so cheap) but appreciate the review. Enjoy!
You'll enjoy it once it arrives. I suspect the price isn't because of time for delivery and time for delivery will very much be due to the global situation that's out of everyones control unfortunelty. Keep well and safe
I am looking to pick this one up over the holidays but will probably get it on the rubber strap - clasp isn't signed anyway so I can always get a decent aftermarket bracelet if I want one and not feel like I am missing out on anything.
I guess the question that I have is will another bracelet properly fit this. It would be a little over the top but I wonder if a strapcode bracelet would fit and look decent?
Perhaps I have been living under a rock and you have done 10 or more You Tube video’s recently? But welcome back James, and a great unboxing video too. Look out Jody with content like this! 😃
I had a 6105 when I served in Vietnam. If memory serves, the retail price was $95. We got them in the PX for half that price. Anyway, you should check out Bombfig and Heimdallr. They also make homages and I believe these are all coming from the same manufacturer.

The end-link finishing is very bad, the pushpins are sized at 1,5mm for the end-links but the first link on the bracelet is 1,8mm leaving a lot of play. The rest of the bracelet is okay, and the clasp can be replaced with a milled one for around 5 to 10 euro. I like my watches on bracelets. If this bracelet was better I would have definitely kept it. I mentioned in the video it can be had elsewhere, I wanted it sooner than what AE could provide and wanted to support the UK seller too during this difficult time for most businesses... Not always about getting the cheapest deals sometimes haha
My real Seiko turtle was made in China! With a Seiko movement. My fake turtle is also made in China with a Seiko Movement. So what makes one magically better than the other? Because on my Steeldive the bezel is actually aligned? Or the fact that the Steeldive has a ceramic bezel, and a sapphire crystal and my (real) Seiko Turtle does not.

You just made me buy this from Ali. It's my last watch (#44) promise.
Its better than the Seiko
Can‘t help. A watch way too big and looking a bit strange. You know this oversized frame. For me a no go. Just said.
Thank you for watching Thomas! Good to know what you enjoy :) If we all liked the same thing this would be very boring haha
You paid £50 too much...going for 100 on AE
I mentioned in the video it can be had elsewhere, I wanted it sooner than what AE could provide and wanted to support the UK seller too during this difficult time for most businesses... Not always about getting the cheapest deals sometimes haha
Steeldive offers good quality - but i don´t like the ugly Logo on the dial
LOGO = Oxygen bottles, fins and mask ;)
$150 you got ripped off
Is not a Seiko ! 👎👎
Yes....its a crap homage.
Would rather save up and get a real Seiko Prospex willard x (even second hand) then this Chinese rubbish.
It is basically a 1 to 1 copy of the Seiko. I just hate giving China any $ these days.
Then don't. I would advice people to save up for a Prospex Willard X...
@@algorithm007ify Not everybody has that kind of money.
@@DanaTheInsane Neither, try to avoid China made period.
